Bay Woods Cottage - Waterfront New London Bay/P.E.I Nat'l Park
Year Purchased: 1994
Why the Owner Chose Cavendish
We fell in love with beautiful Prince Edward Island on a family vacation in 1994, bought our cottage, and have been back every year since!
The Unique Benefits at this Cottage
We love the peace and quiet of the bayfront woodland setting - complete escape and relaxation - yet close to all of the North Shore attractions.
The main beach access point has showers, lockers & changing facilities. There are lifeguards on duty and surf conditions posted, as well as a nice nature trail.
An 8 km or 5.5 km trail through maritime forest, marshland, dunes and farmland. From the Homestead Trail head, you can continue out to the Cavendish Sand Dunes beach access point.
Includes a variety of shopping & restaurants including a pizza restaurant, a sandwich shop, and Cow’s Ice Cream store.
A mini amusement park. Rides include a small roller coaster, ferris wheel, bumper boats, Can Am race cars, many other carnival rides, and a miniature golf course.
An 18 hole championship golf course, complete with a state-of-the-art practice facility.
This is a storybook village based on the "Anne of Green Gables" book including family shows, wagon rides, pony rides, oyster shucking, spoons lessons, pig races, and entertainment for young and old.
This 18 hole course is known for its incredible scenery, as well as the Anne of Green Gables House, situated adjacent to the property.
This 18 hole course is laid out over undulating lands with water hazards placed on 9 holes along the course.
Fresh lobster and PEI catch can be purchased wharfside directly from the fishermen.
Deep sea fishing trips leave directly from Stanley Bridge wharf.
A great place for local shellfish on the deck overlooking New London Bay.
Cape Tryon Lighthouse is located high on the cliffs above the Gulf of St. Lawrence where cormorants nest and is a great location to watch sunsets.
Charming historic lighthouse and beach across from the Cavendish Sand Dunes. Two old cemeteries are nearby also – a pioneer cemetery and one from the “Yankee Gale” shipwreck.

Bay Woods Cottage is a relaxing retreat for anyone. It is VERY clean, safe and well-maintained. Having 2 children under 3 safe and clean are musts! The kitchen has everything you need to cook lobsters, casseroles, etc.. There is an outdoor grill for gorgeous summer nights over looking the bay. The location is absolutely ideal. You are centrally located to everything. We enjoyed bike riding, sandy beaches, drives around the island, amazing ceilidhs (local music performances), L.M. Montgomery site seeing and a lot of Cows Ice Cream. This home has everything you could need and if it is not there then Carolyn is happy to try to get it! We loved relaxing in the living room and on the deck in the evenings after the children went to bed. The washer and dryer were great for our family. Something else to know.....there were no mosquitos!!! It was absolutely heaven! We brought insect repellant and never needed it. We were all very happy and bite- free the entire time we were there! This was an absolutely wonderful vacation and we have decided we would return again in a few years to this very spot. Shipwrights restaurant was our favorite spot, but it is a bit pricey, but you can pick up their bread and yummy cookies to go. It is located in a house and they do the cooking right there in the kitchen and gather all the organic produce in their own garden on the premises! We also ate Cows Ice Cream almost daily since it was voted number one in the world by some magazine. The Wowie Cowie is....wowie.

We took our family vacation on PEI this summer and could not have found a better place to spend a week! The cottage is beautiful, clean and comfortable with a gorgeous view of the water and the Cavendish sand dunes. The listing actually doesn't do it justice. It is better than you see in the pictures. The property is quiet and secluded, while still close to anything that you will need, including Cavendish beach and is also centrally located on the island so you can get anywhere you want. The owners do a fantastic job of providing tourist information for you once you arrive. We would strongly recommend this property to anyone. Watch for the fox popping his head out of the bushes. The kids loved it!
