Our Lake Home was built in 2000 and is like new. This is not a "rental" but our home away from home. We only intend on renting it out a few times per year. It's a three bedroom, two bathroom home and is perfect for four to six people. Eight people, including kids is our maximum.
The home is a totally custom-built house with the "up-north" feel. The boundary waters-like view through any lakeside window or from our large lakeside deck pretty much sells itself. The Westward view of sunsets over the level terrain through the large pine trees is unforgettable.
If you are looking for privacy this is it! We are on 12 heavily wooded acres with over 200 feet of shoreline. Our home is located on the rounded tip of a private point at the end of a 1/4 mile driveway with a paved area between the house and garage. We do share the point with only one other lake home that is not occupied often.
One of the McKenzie Lakes is what we are located on. It is a 1200 acre, clear water lake that is 71' deep and very sandy. The secchi-disc water clarity index is 7 to 12 feet. We often snorkel in the clear, sandy and warm lakeshore area for 300 to 500 feet in any direction. Our view is one of the best on the lake with big water views both West and South with an all sand lake bottom. The expansive swimming area is large, shallow, weed free and sandy.
Imagine fishing, swimming, kayaking, power-boating or just relaxing near the water before walking 75 feet back to the house and having lunch or dinner on the deck and watching Bald Eagles dive for fish (a Eagle's nest is 300 feet away). We even have an outdoor hot water shower to rinse off from lake activities. The Washburn County public landing is only 1/2 mile away. McKenzie Creek is 5 minute paddle across the bay and it connects northward to another McKenzie Lake. Two sit-on-top kayaks with paddles are included.
Inside the up-north feel is accentuated by large windows, a sunroom porch and clear finished pine wainscoting and ceiling beams. The main living area has stone and log gas fireplace along with a view of the lake through a double sliding glass door to the deck. The kitchen has custom hickory cabinets and a hickory floor. Our master suite has a stone faced gas fireplace, jacuzzi tub and private lakeside deck.
Our lake home is literally across the street from hundreds acres of Washburn County forest land with miles of snowmobile and ATV trails. If you get tired of Tubing/Canoeing/Kayaking on our lake, try the Namekagon River, a National Park, which is only 10 miles away (to Howell Landing). Voyager Village golf, tennis and restaurant are only 8 miles away. One of the best restaurants around, McKenzie Landing, is located on our lake two miles straight West across the lake. The Twin Cities are less than a two hour drive (110 Miles), Duluth is 75 miles, Hayward is 32 miles, Spooner is 14 miles, Cable is 50 miles, Webb Lake and Trego are each about 11 Miles away.

Our family couldn't have been happier with our stay. An absolutely stunning lake home on the best property on the lake. We have four kids ages 9 -13 and they loved the fishing, swimming, snorkeling, and kayaking. Great swimming area as it is very clear and shallow. The kids had fish swimming right up to them while snorkeling. Also really enjoyed the hammock, lake swing, and fire pit. The kids also loved the basketball hoop, ping pong table, games, and dvds. Have been staying at VRBO lake properties for years and this was definately the best! Everything exactly the way the owners describe it and great to work with. Five stars!
