Location: Bastrop, Prairies & Lakes, Texas, USA (Only 45 miles to Austin, 2 Hours from Houston or San Antonio)

Accommodations:  House, 2 Bedrooms + Library, 2 Baths (Sleeps 4-6)

Escape to the fresh air of the country and enjoy a cozy 1800 square foot cottage located on 95 acres of woods and prairie. Property is 0.8 miles off the frontage road, no neighbors, all 95 acres are yours for peace and quiet. Front 50 acres have cows, back 45 acres wooded with walkable trails and a fishable lake.

Located just off US 290, 4 miles from Paige, the property is minutes from the historic towns of Bastrop and Smithville.

Carefully re-furnished in spring 2006 the property includes; living-room, library, kitchen, utility room, two bedrooms and two bathrooms. Each bedroom has a double bed, the library has a comfortable sofa bed( only one adult or 2 kids) and master bedroom has a futon ideal for small children.

Great for shooting, hunting (we have plenty wild hogs on the other side of our creek), but you can always choose cycling (two adult bicycles are available) or you might prefer fishing in our lake (we have fishing lines available, and our corner shop at only 4 miles away sells plenty good bait). Of course you might only want to relax, and we do have some perfects spots for that on our porch on the swing.

At night do try our campfire in front of the cabin, with comfortable chairs, relax and melt some marshmallow. And of course we have picnics tables in the best spots of the property, so pack your lunch or dinner and eat out by the lake or under a tree, all tables come with a torch ready for a flame.

Several excellent restaurants, antique stores, a full-service hospital and large grocery stores can be found in Bastrop and Smithville. With Bastrop and Buescher State Parks just minutes away you have fishing, swimming, camping, or kayaking on your doorstep. Rocky Hill Ranch Mountain Bike Park, ColoVista Golf Club and Pine Forest Golf Club are also nearby.

Some of the best antiquing in Texas is located a short drive away in Round Top. We are also just a short 45 minute ride to beautiful Austin, Texas (University of Texas, State Capitol, Lake Travis, Famous Sixth Street).

  • What a wonderful place to spend the New Year holiday. My 3 preschool aged children had a wonderful time fishing, making smores, and just enjoying being outside. The cottage is very comfortable and home-like. We will definitely do this again.

  • My elderly father and I stayed in this wonderful cottage over the Thanksgiving weekend. The owners made our reservation experience smooth and trouble-free. We arrived in late afternoon but were able to easily find the cottage due to the great directions. The cottage was nice and cozy, but had plenty of room for my father, me, and my three dogs. My father is disabled but could get around inside the house easily. My dogs were in canine nirvana. They thought they had moved to the dog park! We'll definitely be going back!

  • My family had a wonderful time at the cottage. There is plenty to do, and we enjoyed the country living. With three school teachers in our group, we were ready for some R&R in peace and quiet! The cottage was roomy and the beds were so comfortable! The master bedroom is spacious and the Texas decor throughout was inspiring! Thank you for letting us bring our Labrador. She thoroughly enjoyed exploring the country and watching the cows! This cabin is a wonderful retreat away from city living.

  • This ranch house is just adorable and the beds were soooo comfortable! We enjoyed fishing, riding bikes, target practice, making a campfire, photographing wildflowers and playing games. Our dogs had a wonderful time running all over and exploring the landscape as well. Kind owners are a pleasure to work with. We will be back soon! Thank you!
