This is the house we've been looking for on our visits to magical Oaxaca, Mexico. At last, we've found it!
Imagine a tranquil, modern home in the historic center of Oaxaca. Three bedrooms, two and a half baths, fully equipped kitchen, spacious living/dining room, and more. The house is immaculate, and is kept that way by a full-time housekeeper, who will also meet you with the key and will make sure there is plenty of drinking water, hot water for showers, etc. The housekeeper will also cook breakfast and/or lunch for you, and will do your marketing---although you may want to save that adventure for yourself. We ask that you tip the housekeeper about $25-$50 USD per person per week, depending on the amount of work you require.
A balcony runs the length of the second floor bedrooms, overlooking the lush, private garden---a rare find in Oaxaca. Take your morning coffee while watching the hummingbirds, and fall asleep to the sound of church bells.
The pedestrian street with craft shops, restuarants, and museums, Macedonia Alcala, is a pleasant two-block, residential walk from the house. Oaxaca is called the "City of Colors" and is abloom with bright colors and sunlight. It is a city rich in culture, with plenty of museums, historic sites, crafts, and concerts. There is a vibrant modern art community, as well as the rich history of southern Mexico.
The house is furnished with new, simple, locally-made furniture, cotton sheets, good towels, and all other necessities.
The house is ideally suited for people who want peace and quiet. Our organization, Atlantic Writers' Workshop, uses it some weeks of the year for writing workshops - please inquire for rates for similar uses.
