Our newly constructed house provides refined comfort in the ambiance of the original 19th Century Chateau.
Ground Floor: Kitchen: Fully equipped modern kitchen with top of the range appliances. Fridge-freezer, washer-dryer, dish-washer, hob, fan oven.Tempering this modernity are the Provencal hand painted dining table and chairs. Excellent quality cooking utensils, tableware, glassware and tablecloths are provided, for preparing the abundance of fresh produce available from local markets and gourmet shops.
Salon/Living room: Comfortable furnishings in soothing tones with traditional hand painted local furniture. For your entertainment: TV, CD’s or choose a book from the ‘biblioteque’.
Patio/Garden: Table/chairs to accommodate four people. B-B-Q Grill. French doors from the Salon lead to the verdant terrace (a room from nature!) Enjoy a coffee or a glass of wine under our olive tree and listen to the babble of water. Shaded by a retractable awning this charming terrace is the perfect place to read or write!.
Upstairs: Bedroom 1 – King-size bed with new superior density support mattresses. Facing the Alpilles, this charming room has hand painted bedside tables and generous wardrobe space.
Bedroom 2 – Small double bed with new superior density support mattress. Overlooking the garden this room has a hand painted desk and Provencal wardrobe. Suitable for two children or one adult.
Shower Room/WC – Spacious, fully tiled shower room with power shower, wash hand basin, WC and heated towel rails.
History: The ancient market town of St. Remy was first settled by those fleeing the nearby Roman city of Glanum as it was sacked by Germanic tribes c.270 AD. The Excavated remains of this gallo-roman city are now a major archeological attraction. Stroll along the narrow winding streets and shaded squares. Discover the ornate 17th and 18th century buildings now housing museums and art galleries. Here in St. Remy, while being cared for in the monastery at ‘St Paul de Mausole’ Vincent Van Gogh painted more than 150 canvasses, inspired by the fields of wheat, olive trees and wild flowers of the surrounding countryside
