Lower Deck: The yacht has a spacious Master Suite aft with Queen bed and head with shower. The next suite forward is a Guest Stateroom with two twin beds and head with shower across the companionway. Four steps up from the sleeping deck is the lower saloon with full bar and ice maker, large dining table and sofa that opens into a double bed. Forward of the lower saloon is the fully equipped galley where the Chef creates outstanding Mexican dishes for your enjoyment. The Crew's Quarters with separate head and shower are located forward of the galley.

Main Deck: Four steps up from the lower saloon is the Main Deck with inside steering station and upper saloon also with a large dining and game table and chairs. The saloon also includes a sofa that converts into a double bed, overstuffed chairs, and a deck overlooking the lower aft utility deck. A large swim platform with a swim ladder makes for easy access to the yacht from the water. A spacious deck area on the bow of the Main Deck provides ample room for watching the pristine scenery. A large padded bench seat across the Main Deck and additional padded seating on the life jacket lockers provides very comfortable seating for our passengers to enjoy their cruise. A large sunbathing deck with lounging pads is located above and behind the bench seat on the roof of the lower saloon.

Bridge: The Bridge Deck offers panoramic viewing of the scenery and a bimini cover over the Bridge Steering Station.

Charter Area Options: Three general charter areas are available for multi-day live-aboard charters: Upper Region from Mulege to Loreto, Central Region from Loreto to south of Puerto Escondido including many islands within the Loreto Marine Park, the Southern Region from Puerto Escondido to La Paz. All the islands within each region are pristine, uninhabited and offer wonderful scenery, hiking, and photo opportunities.

Available Activities: Relax and experience the good life (at a VERY reasonable price) while our Mexican crew attends to your every need while also ensuring the safety of the yacht and everyone aboard. Try your luck at fishing off the stern of EL DON in a world-class fishing region. Our expert Mexican Chef will prepare your freshly caught fish for dinner. Swim in the crystal clear water, walk or sunbathe on the secluded beaches, sunbathe on deck, and generally relax and enjoy yourself on our classic luxury yacht. Kayaking, scuba diving and guided free-dive spear fishing can be arranged at a small extra cost.

Marine Mammals: Whale watching is very popular from mid-January through March. Porpoise frequently swim under and along-side the yacht as they play in the pressure wave off the bow. Sea Lions can be seen on their favorite rock outcroppings. The area is extremely rich in a wide variety of marine life that can be seen while snorkeling or scuba diving.

Visit Loreto: Visit the quaint Mexican fishing village of Loreto to shop for gifts, enjoy a delicious meal, or visit the first mission in California. Rental cars are available to explore the back roads of Baja, drive to the Mission in San Javier, or drive north along the coast to Mulege or across the peninsula to Magdalena Bay.

    • As they say south of the border, FANTASTICO! Our group of six, all in their 30’s, chartered EL DON for a three-day Sea of Cortez adventure. I don't think Ernest Hemingway himself could properly explain, via this comment, how much fun we had. We saw almost every kind or marine life, snorkeled and fished. The food was excellent, the crew was professional and pleasant, and the views were spectacular. Gary, the owner, did a great job of professionally meeting our requirements and expectations, from food to excursions. He gathered all the information that was vital and ensured all our needs were met. After the cruise, we relaxed at his lovely house for 4 days as we watched hummingbirds and doves chill on his back patio. Finally, just when you think things can't get better, Gary set us up with a day of off-shore fishing where we caught two marlins, one sail fish, and 8 dorado... this kind of a package deal can only be described as five-star. Words don't do it justice so make sure you check out our scrapblog of the trip. Please copy and paste the following URL into your browser’s address window and then press Enter from the scrapblog website: /viewer/vw_full.aspx?sbid=438653. Pictures are worth 8000 words. Thanks again and we are looking forward to doing it again. Kristopher Von Hohn

    • We took the long weekend cruise Gary notes in his VRBO narrative. Having cruised some of the best waters of the world on similar vessels, the El Don experience rates high for value. The scenery and marine wildlife is second to none. The vessel is well maintained. The captain, crew and chef are safe and professional. If you are looking for warm water adventure and relaxation for a reasonable price, El Don is for you.

    • Out time aboard the EL DON more than met our wildest expectations. We enjoyed exploring beautiful islands with lovely sandy beaches; the water was the beautiful green-blue color that we swam in at anytime. The wildlife is rich - we saw large schools of amazing dolphins which swam with the yacht, fin back whales with their babies a short distance away, interesting birds, tuna swimming under the boat, turtles, sea lions and much more. The staff were exceptional!!! It was our cruise and they were accomodating to every adventure. We caught a manta ray, enjoyed delicious food throughout the day prepared by our experienced chef and slept under the stars. We hope to board the EL DON again!!!
