The Anna Florence rental apartment delights the visitor with comfortable, elegant furnishings and amenities. A rare find in Florence is the delightful terrace off the living room. The terrace overlooks the tile rooftops and cupola of the Santo Spirito church. Planted window boxes hang from the wrought iron railing, adding a touch of greenery.

Take a walk through the Anna apartment by viewing the video. See link above.

You will be hard-pressed to find a more romantic Florence apartment. The Anna Florence vacation apartment is located on Via di Santo Spirito just a few blocks from the Ponte Vecchio on the gentrified Oltrarno side of the river. It’s a romantic, beautifully decorated apartment that will make for a special stay in Florence. Via di Santo Spirito is a charming street lined with elegant antique shops, artisan workshops and boutiques in an ideal location for exploring Florence. The Uffizi Gallery & Duomo are just across the river, the Pitti Palace is five minutes away. Or take a leisurely stroll through the nearby Boboli Gardens, which were once the private, palatial gardens of the Medici family during the Renaissance.

Location
Two blocks from the apartment Piazza Santo Spirito welcomes you with cafes and restaurants along the piazza. Several fresh produce stands are open in the piazza in the morning where you can buy provisions for lunch or dinner. Enjoy rummaging through the houseware vendors' stalls and spot the local signore shopping for kitchen utensils, dishtowels, bedroom slippers, tablecloths and an interesting assortment of household bric-a-brac. You’ll start to feel like a local! Midday the stalls close up and the noon-time crowd emerges to enjoy lunch at one of the local restaurants in the piazza and and along the streets of the neighborhood. Presiding over the piazza is the Santo Spirito church, designed by Brunelleschi and completed in the late 1400’s. Next door to the church is the Cenacolo di Santo Spirito, a small museum that was once the refectory of the Santo Spirito church. The quiet side streets that crisscross the neighborhood are a welcome refuge from the busy streets just across the river and are lined with fine old Medieval buildings and small artisan workshops that craft beautiful Florentine furniture. A personal favorite is the bespoke men’s shoe shop located diagonally across from the church where you can see custom shoe forms lining the wall. Peer through the window to observe a craftsmen hand sew shoes for his elite clientele, usually with an apprentice or two peering over his shoulder. Clients of this store come back year after year for elegant custom shoes. Only a few minutes walk away is the church of Santa Maria del Carmine, famous for the Brancacci Chapel where you can see Renaissance masterpiece, The Life of St. Peter frescoes. If you are up for a bit of exercise, head out for an invigorating walk up to the Forte di Belvedere or Piazzale Michelangelo to take in gorgeous views of the city of Florence. In addition to the historic sites, the neighborhood has a wealth of good restaurants, food shops and a favorite bakery just down the street.

Exterior
The Anna apartment is in a 15th century apartment building located on a street lined with many artisan workshops.

Interior
The butter-yellow fresco style walls of the apartment give a soft hue and provide a warm backdrop for the elegant style of the apartment, complemented by high ceilings with exposed beams. Great care has been taken in the thoughtful remodeling to make excellent use of the space, capped by decor that is tasteful, comfortable and elegant.

The living room sofa is flanked by a comfortable wing-backed chair and an ottoman. Good reading lights, custom cabinetry and charming decorative touches add to the comfort and appeal. The antique dining table has seating for four, in the event you want to invite friends over for a meal. Step up to the small but efficient kitchen, which is up a half-level and overlooks the living room. It is fully furnished with pots, pans, dishes and is decorated with hand-painted Italian ceramic tiles and a marble countertop.

At the opposite end of the living room is the sleeping alcove, partially hidden behind soft, sheer linen drapes that hang from behind the arch that leads to the alcove. While this is a studio apartment, the layout still provides some measure of privacy and space given the separation between the living areas.

The tiled bathroom has been fully updated and has a large step-in shower with glass doors, sink and toilet.

A special characteristic of this apartment is the feeling of light and space due to the high ceilings which contribute to the overall volume of the apartment. Add to that the easily accessible outdoor space on the terrace, the draped sleeping alcove and the step-up kitchen, and this doesn’t feel like an ordinary studio apartment. What a romantic getaway for a very special vacation in Florence. The apartment building does not have an elevator and is located on the 5th floor (4th floor European) so guests have an opportunity to work off pasta and gelato indulgences. Guests are advised to plan their luggage accordingly since it is a hike to get heavy suitcases up the steps, and, because it is a studio apartment, there is very limited storage space for large luggage. Once at the top though, you’ll be rewarded for your efforts with splendid views, a quiet and beautiful apartment for a memorable Florence stay.

The apartment was very charming

The apartment was very charming and very well decorated. We loved the area, close enough to walk to everything, but in a quiet residential street with small shops. The only drawback was the noise from the neighbors who argued everyday from about 5 pm until 11 pm. It appeared that their entrance was in the next building because there was no apartment on the same floor which had a door to that side of the building. I was surprised that such an old building would not have thicker walls. I did find this quite disturbing because there was no way to address this. I realize that this is city living as I have a city apartment in Chicago and occasionally hear my neighbors, but this was every day. Dear Mary - I'm sorry to hear about arguing neighbors. Of the many reviews we've received this is the first mention of that issue. I hope, for everyone's sake, the mysterious neighbors start getting along better! Lisa at Italy Perfect

The Anna apartment was nothing short of stunning. The quite location was a nice escape from the busy Florence streets and listening to the bells ring outside the balcony each evening was enchanting. Lots of great markets near by and although the kitchen was small it had everything needed to prepare wonderful meals. Amazing jazz CD collection and wonderful assortment of books. Felt like home. Francesca, our greeter, was so sweet and very helpful with any question we had. We can't wait to come back and return to the Anna. As well, any future trips to Italy will be booked through Italy Perfect without hesitation. I would highly recommend the Anna and Italy Perfect to my friends.

We left a cold and snowy Canberra Australia for a hopefully relaxed few weeks in a European summer. A week in Florence was the longest planned break in the one location and included a wedding anniversary. We were not been disappointed: Warm weather, great location and a perfect retreat to be able to explore many aspects of Florence and a quick 37 minute trip to Bologna to visit the Ducati factory: A journey through Italian Art, Architecture and design, the renaissance to modern technology within 100kms. Each street in Florence invited further exploration. There was always something new to see and investigate and not only in the streets not yet travelled but also the ones we used each day. The apartment was perfect, so tastefully designed and set up. We had all we required except a masseuse at the end of the day to attend to feet. The 66 steps were great training for climbing the various heights of Florence and working off the gelato intake calories. Thank you Francesca for a warm and informative introduction to Anna’s apartment and thanks to Lisa and Italy Perfect for a well detailed and well organised stay in Florence. We can happily recommend both the apartment and Italy perfect.

Anna was just what we were looking for! This adorable apartment was wonderful! It was just what I wanted- authentic Italian apartment. It was comfortable and all we needed while visiting Florence. It had everything we needed in a neat little package! I loved the location- somewhat away from the "touristy" area, but really was pretty close when we were walking. The view of Santo Spirito church steeple from the porch was amazing! I would definitely recommend this apartment; and this rental company, to my friends (I already have!). They were so helpful in making the arrangements, and the greeter, Francesca, was punctual and thoroughly explained all we needed to know about the apartment. She arranged for a taxi to pick us up on our departure morning, so we wouldn't have to struggle to do it! I hope to use this company again when traveling in Europe. You will love Florence if you love art, beautiful architecture, walking & exploring, and gelato!!

Anna's apartment deserves the highest praise that anyone might expect or even dream of having while in Florence. It was actually difficult to leave it. The photos don't capture the romance of its location and the exquisiteness of its design. I found myself waking up at different hours of the evening just to capture the changing light surrounding the church steeples. After a beautiful day of exploring Florence and its many museums, craftshops, antique galleries, etc my husband and I looked forward to Anna's quiet apartment. She provided every detail of a lovely home: books, music, photos, paintings, well-stocked kitchen, hand painted tiles, cozy living room with high ceilings, immaculate bathroom and a romantic bedroom. Whatever question one may have while traveling in Italy, Anna provided historical books as well as guide texts. It was such a lovely spot to spend a holiday or vacation and actually difficult to leave her library! She introduced me to Mary McCarthy's Stones of Italy. I am looking forward to returning. And, yes, I would recommend Italy Perfect to all my friends.

My wife and I were totally impressed with our Italy Perfect experience from start to finish. Booking the apartment in Florence was efficient with prompt communication back and forth. The information package they sent was very useful and complete. The Anna apartment was excellent and the location was great: it was close enough to the attractions to be convenient but in a quiet neighbourhood. There was a great little Bar right across the street where we could get our morning cafe when we didn't make our own in the apartment. There were also 2 good restaurants on our block that we enjoyed. Just around the corner was a market and there were other stores within a couple blocks where we could get food. The greeter was very helpful in showing us the apartment and even went with me in the car to show me a nearby parking garage. Our stay at Anna was a great introduction to Italy and I would definitely use Italy Perfect again

Six days in this lovely apartment were magical in beautiful Firenze. The Anna apartment is beautifully decorated and designed, and well appointed for eating in, entertaining or just relaxing in the cozy living area or balcony. Views from the balcony added to the ambiance with night and day views of the duomo and campanile of S. Spirito and tile rooftops. The 66 steps from the building entrance were not so daunting once you knew what was at the top end of them! Location is about as good as it gets, unless you want to be in the middle of tourist traffic and noise. We loved wandering residential streets, shoppings in local markets and grabbing an espresso and pastry in one of the many nearby cafes. While somewhat off the beaten path, nothing is a long walk in Florence, and we felt more like locals than tourists in this area, where one might have to speak some Italian to get by more than on the other side of the Arno River. There are numerous ristorante and trattoria on Via S. Spirito or nearby streets, many not so tourist driven. Quattro Leoni and Camillo are two of our favorite local ristorante, both in Oltrarno region. We found no need to venture to the other side of the Arno for dinner and enjoyed exploring streets for lesser known places. If you are interested in artisan shops for mosaics, leather, fabric, lighting, paper goods, etc., they abound in Oltrarno, but nothing is inexpensive. It is a wonderful area to window shop! Traveling in late November/early December has its advantages as there are few tourists. We entered all museums, shops, cafes, etc. without waiting or dealing with crowds. Weather was in the 50s, but more cloudy than not; however, we felt quite lucky to have found a clear 6-day window in Firenze during the rainy season. We rented this apartment and a car, and rented a cell phone, all through Italy Perfect. We felt completely prepared for our adventure and were well versed on what the apartment offered and all other areas of Flirenze thanks to our friendly and efficient greeter. I recommend Italy Perfect highly, as they made this part of our European adventure a seamless and relaxing experience. We look forward to booking again, hopefully the Anna apartment for longer!

The Anna apartment was amazing and suited our needs perfectly. We loved the location as it was close to everything but with a nice residential/neighborhood feel that we really enjoyed. The space itself was lovely and comfortable, with a beautiful view of Santo Spirito. There is a great selection of books of all kinds, guidebooks included, written in English. You would be fine if you left all books at home. We shopped at the markets and had breakfast at home each day — perfect way to start our exploring and site-seeing. We did not have any issues with the apartment, though you should expect typical residential noises as you are in a unit amongst many. The neighborhood was wonderful — so many good restaurants, interesting shops, and small streets to explore. We particularly liked the restaurant Casalinga (and Quattro Leoni is a treat). Francesca, our greeter, was friendly and thorough, and gave us many good suggestions. We loved "Anna" and would go back.

When we found the Anna apartment on Italy Perfect... We immediately started planning our trip to Italy! Anna lived up to all of our expectations... and then some! Great location, great view... we wished we could have stayed longer! Our greeter, Francesca was charming and very helpful. Embrace the stairs... it helps with the gelato consumption... LOL!!! Definitely use the binder in the apartment, it is filled with great recommendations from previous guests! The most amazing thing happened while enjoying the view from our balcony on our last night... He said "Marry Me" and she said "Yes!"

We stayed here for our honeymoon and we wanted somewhere that was quiet and romantic but close to all the sites of Florence. This apartment was perfect. It is incredibly romantic, has everything you would ever need and an amazing view of Santo Spirito. Located in that neighbourhood, south of the arno, it is a short walk over Ponte Vecchio to anything you might want to do on the north side of the city, but removed from all the hustle and bustle of tourists. There are also great restaurants in the area. In relation to other reviews shared. The steps are not bad at all! Also, mosquitoes were not a problem with repellant incense. We also, cannot say enough about the service provided both locally and from the States through Italy Perfect. We would definitely stay here again and highly recommend this for any couple wanting to visit Florence!
