Our special vacation home on Edisto combines the best of having a dock on a quiet tidal creek plus ocean views and a short walk or bike ride to the beach. From our front porch, enjoy beautiful views of the ocean across the marsh -- and the creek, marsh and great sunsets from our back deck. Stately oaks overhang the creek, and our dock is just steps away from our door. Eddingsville Beach is one of the most quiet and pristine beaches ever! It is a get-away for relaxation at its best, whatever the season.
The house is designed with comfort and family times in mind. A large screened porch extends across the front of the house. With ceiling fans, teak dining table, comfortable rattan sofa and wooden rocking chairs, the porch provides a wonderful spot to relax with a cup of coffee in the morning or cocktails in the evening.
The large great room, with vaulted ceiling, heart pine floors, wood-burning fireplace and sectional sofa, has a look of casual elegance. TV with Dish Network satellite and a DVD player provide entertainment. The unique glass-top dining table, which seats 8, sits on the base of a huge grapevine and overlooks the porch.
Two master bedrooms, one on either side of the house, have king beds and doors that open to the screened porch, providing comfort and privacy for two couples. The third bedroom has two single beds, and the fourth has two bunk beds (double bed and double futon on the bottom and single beds on top). The house has two bathrooms, with walk-in showers, located on each side of the house in between two bedrooms. There also is an enclosed outdoor shower with dressing area – great for showering after a day at the beach.
The kitchen is fully stocked with everything you need to enjoy cooking, including low country cookbooks, wine glasses, china, lots of pots and pans, blender -- even a Belgian waffle maker. A breakfast bar with four barstools joins the kitchen with the great room.
In the backyard overlooking the creek and marsh, we have a wooden double swing and a hammock under the oaks for reading (or napping!). The back deck has a picnic table and comfortable Tropitone chairs, with the creek and marsh beyond. Enjoy the sights and sounds of the creek and marsh, watch the amazing sunsets, and just relax! Wildlife is abundant – fish, crab and shrimp in the creek, squirrels scampering through the trees, herons in the marsh, pelicans flying overhead, dolphins occasionally swimming up the creek, and Painted Buntings feeding at our bird feeders. For bird enthusiasts, it’s truly paradise!
You can get to the beach, about a third of a mile away, down the Jeremy Cay causeway through this quiet gated community. Access to the beach and Jeremy Cay is through the pedestrian gate. (Sorry, the covenants of our Jeremy Cay membership do not allow us to permit renters to have golf cart access; the covenants reserve this only for owners). Two adult beach bikes are included with the house rental; others can be rented locally, as can jon boats or kayaks, which allow beach access via the creek. If you have your own small boat, there is a landing located on Frampton Creek to put in, and you can dock it at our dock. Please note that property owners along the creek request that no jet skis be used in the creek.
The beach is very secluded and quiet, and many times when we walk out, we’re the only people on the beach. Eddingsville Beach is great for searching for shells, shark’s teeth, fossils and even pottery from the plantation summer homes that occupied the beach in the 1800's, until they were demolished by the hurricane of 1893. (We have several books about the history – and the ghosts – of Edisto Island and Eddingsville Beach for the history buffs in your group.)
Edisto Beach is five miles from the house; there you can pick up groceries at the Piggly Wiggly, enjoy several great seafood restaurants or Buck’s Pizza, play golf and tennis, or visit the Edisto Beach State Park. Charleston is an hour away for shopping, history and terrific restaurants of all kinds. In Charleston, there is a wide variety of things to do, like horse-drawn carriage rides through the historic city, the South Carolina Aquarium, Fort Sumter, the Charleston RiverDogs baseball team, etc. Savannah, Georgia, is about an hour and a half away.
This is a great vacation spot for you if you are looking for relaxing days on the beach and quiet evenings eating great food and having quality “family time.” We have books to enjoy, cards and games to play, puzzles to put together, and movies to watch, and wireless internet for your laptop. We hope that you will come and experience the peace, quiet and comfort that come with this special home. We know it won’t take long for you to unwind – and that it will be hard to leave – because that’s the lure of Edisto for us all.

Why the Owner Chose Edisto Beach
We fell in love with this area of Edisto because of the view of the ocean from the front and the tidal creek at our back door. It's a wonderful combination -- and provides the "best of both worlds."

Jim and Elizabeth Berry, and their children, Tripp and Cathryn, live in Summerville, SC. We love Edisto and have been visiting there since we were kids. Our home on Edisto Island, Berry'd Treasure, is a wonderful spot for quiet family vacations.

Four generations ages 2 to 80 stayed at Berry'd Treasure the first week of April 2011. This area offers much for those who love nature and love time spent on the beach. We made wonderful memories in this beautiful home with gorgeous views all around it. Our two and four year old grandsons crabbed for the first time, found their first shark's tooth, and even saw an eagle eat a dinner of fish in a near by tree. The home is well equipped, very clean, and well maintained. Elizabeth has been very helpful in answering any questions that we had. We have been to Edisto for the last 4 years for our spring break, and we always check out the availability of Berry'd Treasure. We are thankful that we have been able to spend time in the Berry's vacation home. We feel sure others would enjoy it as much as we do.

Thank you so much for opening your beautiful home to us this week! The location is superb! We loved everything about this place; the peace and quiet, the empty and pristine beaches, the friendly locals, the ocean breezes on the front porch and all the wildlife! The kids loved kayaking in the creek and riding the waves in the ocean. The kids enjoyed a trip to the Serpentarium. We loved Edisto and hope to return many times! Best wishes!

What can I say? The week passed way too fast. We want to thank you for allowing us to spend this past week in your beautiful home. On my daily walks along the beach I collected many lovely shells and pottery pieces. When we are back in Texas and I look at these shells, I will remember our week at Edisto Beach.

Thank you for such a marvelous stay in your home. The home was comfortable and cozy – just like home. The surrounding and nature setting was pure heaven. We spent our days on the quiet beach and our evenings riding the bikes the neighborhood. We couldn’t have picked a better place to vacation as a family, and it is now our most favorite place. We hope to be back next year!

We have fallen in love with this area for the second time (last time was 15 years ago). The marshes are beautiful and so full of life. It was so nice to see our family together, and your house made it possible. The best to your family from our family.
