Happy Memories

Four generations ages 2 to 80 stayed at Berry'd Treasure the first week of April 2011. This area offers much for those who love nature and love time spent on the beach. We made wonderful memories in this beautiful home with gorgeous views all around it. Our two and four year old grandsons crabbed for the first time, found their first shark's tooth, and even saw an eagle eat a dinner of fish in a near by tree. The home is well equipped, very clean, and well maintained. Elizabeth has been very helpful in answering any questions that we had. We have been to Edisto for the last 4 years for our spring break, and we always check out the availability of Berry'd Treasure. We are thankful that we have been able to spend time in the Berry's vacation home. We feel sure others would enjoy it as much as we do.

Thank you so much for opening your beautiful home to us this week! The location is superb! We loved everything about this place; the peace and quiet, the empty and pristine beaches, the friendly locals, the ocean breezes on the front porch and all the wildlife! The kids loved kayaking in the creek and riding the waves in the ocean. The kids enjoyed a trip to the Serpentarium. We loved Edisto and hope to return many times! Best wishes!

What can I say? The week passed way too fast. We want to thank you for allowing us to spend this past week in your beautiful home. On my daily walks along the beach I collected many lovely shells and pottery pieces. When we are back in Texas and I look at these shells, I will remember our week at Edisto Beach.

Things we loved about this week: The magnificent setting, the lovely house, the moon shining on the marsh, the wildlife – yes!, no tourists, peace, sunsets from the back deck. We leave relaxed with deep appreciation of life. Thank you!

Thank you for such a marvelous stay in your home. The home was comfortable and cozy – just like home. The surrounding and nature setting was pure heaven. We spent our days on the quiet beach and our evenings riding the bikes the neighborhood. We couldn’t have picked a better place to vacation as a family, and it is now our most favorite place. We hope to be back next year!

We have fallen in love with this area for the second time (last time was 15 years ago). The marshes are beautiful and so full of life. It was so nice to see our family together, and your house made it possible. The best to your family from our family.

What a beautiful and peaceful place to stay! Our family has enjoyed the beaches, bating, and crabbing. Sitting on your screen porch and listening to the birds singing. This week is what we needed! Thank you for such a pleasant Eden-like place.

We enjoyed our relaxing family vacation. The location could not have been better. We saw a dolphin on our last morning. We enjoyed fishing and crabbing. We have bags of shells to help us remember our wonderful vacation. We look forward to future visits.

Thank you so much for allowing us to stay in your lovely house! The location was perfect, the weather was perfect, and the views around here are amazing! My friends and I loved being here and I cannot imagine a better place to ring in the New Year. Highlights of our week were seeing dolphins out the back door in the morning, finding buried “treasure” (amazing old coins on the beach, taking amazing pictures, and just enjoying time away from reality in your beautiful vacation spot. Thanks so much for sharing it with us!

We arrived after dark on Sunday evening and woke up Monday morning in paradise. It is so peaceful and quiet here and the views are spectacular. We enjoyed watching the birds and changing tides. Your home is both beautiful and comfortable and definitely well stocked. Thank you so much for sharing this treasure with us

This is the special kind of place that, if you are lucky, you come across in your life. Thank you so much for allowing us to share it with you. A special “Thank You” for allowing us to rent the jon boat. We really enjoyed cruising along, looking at the wildlife, and “escorting” the dolphins back up the creek. When you come and visit a new place, and all is “as advertised”, then you go home happy. When you come to a place like this, that just blows “as advertised” totally away, you go home with a great sense of fulfillment! Many thanks!

Tranquil Island Paradise

We have just returned home from our third visit to this beautiful island home. Once again our family enjoyed wonderful days of fossil hunting on the beach with evenings spent preparing meals in the well stocked kitchen, working puzzles, sitting by the fireplace, and watching our Tarheels take the national championship on satellite TV. We truly love this sanctuary where the birds awaken us to coffee on the deck, and we watch the moon rise over the marsh and ocean from the comfortable screened front porch. The house is in immaculate condition and would easily accomodate two families of four, with a master bedroom, bath, and twin room on each side of the house. The kitchen, great room, porch and deck allow plenty of room for games, puzzles, lounging, and TV. One thing to note is that all living space is upstairs, as the house is necessarily built on pilings. Guests with mobility issues should be aware that step climbing (bringing luggage, groceries, etc. into the house) is a requirement. Our family spent the majority of our time relaxing at the house, birdwatching on the decks, collecting fossils on the beach, and walking/ biking the dirt roads of the island. We love to cook and come prepared to do so, bringing all of our provisions as the island grocery is quite crowded with limited offerings. Note*** King's Market on the way into Edisto has wonderful fresh fruit, produce, cheeses, eggs, tomato and onion pie- we never miss stopping and stocking up. For meals out we enjoy Po Pigs BBQ, voted America's best barbeque by national food critics. Unfortuantely it is open only on Thursday-Saturday nights, so we missed it this time around. Other enjoyable meals were had at McConkey's Jungle Shack (fish tacos to die for!) and Whaley's bar- very much a BAR, but with fresh local caught seafood and folks lined up out the door for a seat. We've heard that the old Edisto Post Office Restaurant will soom be reopening, and that will be a nice dining addition to the extremely casual places I've mentioned above. We are nature lovers, and the Edisto Serpentarium is one of the best reptile exhibits we have seen in the country. It is open seasonally from late spring through early fall, and while pricey it is definitely worth the time and expense for anyone interested in reptiles. Take bug spray, as the mosquitos like it, too. We recommend this home to anyone searching for peace and quiet in a natural setting. It is truly a refuge- you'll never want to leave!.

This is a beautiful home in a beautiful setting. The house is lovely, spacious and contains all amenities. The outside deck and screened porch provide two options for gorgeous views. The tidal creek is wonderful for swimming and boating at high tide (always wear shoes, oyster shells are sharp!) as well as crabbing (which provided hours of fun for the young and old). The hot tub (outside/screened) was wonderful after a bracing swim in the ocean (our stay was in April). The beach (wear shoes), accessed via a scenic walk or bike ride, is secluded. The kids boogie boarded with dolphins one day! We were so glad we selected this rental rather than a true "beach house" in Edisto Beach. There was so much more for the kids to do when we weren't beaching it, or the weather wasn't great (although mostly it was nice weather) and the setting was so beautiful. A must is to buy shrimp from one of the local seafood shops, boil it in Old Bay, then chow down out on the deck at sundown (or if you have a boat and the tide is high, have a sunset ride). I would rent this house again!

What an incredible and restful time away! Your home is lovely and the setting is superb! We found more shells and fossils than on any other beach! The weather was perfect and God blessed us with peace and restoring rest. Your thoughtfulness in stocking the house was definitely appreciated!

From our guest book in June 2008: "We had 2 wonderful weeks, and your house is very comfortable. I can't think of anything we needed that we did not have in the house or in the kitchen. (I enjoyed reading the cookbooks.) We also enjoyed the outside shower. It reminded us of the great showers that were at an old beach house that we loved. We were lucky enough to see 2 dolphins feeding in the creek one night about dusk and I don't know who was more excited - the adults or the children! We kept hoping the dolphins would return but they never did. Of course we loved the birds! My daughter-in-law and grandaughter were thrilled with shells and artifacts they found on the beach. Thanks!

We were visited on two different tides by dolphins feeding in the creek -- very exciting! We also enjoyed lots of different birds, including a bald eagle.
