Just a 60 minute car/ferry ride north of Seattle. Glendale Beach Cabin is a clean, comfortable, well-appointed beach home that boasts a 180 degree view from a magical, pristine no-bank beach. The only way to be closer to the water is to be on a boat! Capturing majestic Mt. Baker to the north and the tip of Mt. Ranier to the south, this beautiful sand/gravel beach is your front yard. You can dig clams, fish, kayak or do some great beach combing right in front of the cabin and along the miles of virtually deserted beach that run north and south. View whales, sea lions, seals, salmon, bald eagles, herons, ducks, deer and many more animals that live around the beach... Or bike some scenic back roads. The gray whales just arrived at the beginning of March and you can usually see them lumber past the cabin once a day!
The cabin offers all that you would need for a relaxing stay on Whidbey. There are two baths, one with a shower, the other with a claw foot tub and candles for relaxing. The bedroom comes complete with an old fashioned iron bed with a plush down comforter and extra pillows. The kitchen is very functional and open towards the dining and living rooms. It is equipped with full size stove and refrigerator, microwave, griddle, toaster & a coffee maker with grinder. We also stock gourmet coffee beans and an array of teas. The dishes, knives, flatware and pots + pans are nice and there are wine glasses as well.
The living room has a very comfortable couch (which opens to a queen size hide-a-bed) a love seat and chair as well as a propane fireplace/stove that heats up the cabin quite nicely. You can watch the ferries and boats pass by for hours. There are games and books for all ages and a great window seat loaded with pillows for reading, napping or taking in the view. Between the house and the beach there is a very large deck with handmade furniture, a table with chairs, and many potted plants. To the side of the deck, there is a fire pit with dry wood and a charcoal barbeque. Beach fires are also permitted.
