This cedar shingled cottage was originally a one-bedroom fishing getaway built in the 1940s. In 1968 the owners added another bedroom, a screened-in porch, and deck to the first floor and built a second story with two extra bedrooms, an additional living room, full bathroom, bar, and deck. The house has a historic "beach cottage" feel on the first floor (with modern amenities) and is more modern on the second floor. A brass/wood/iron spiral staircase separates the two floors.
The screened-in porch has a couch, table and chair and is great for coffee, afternoon naps, and birdwatching. The property is very private with mature trees, wild vines and vegetation surrounding the backyard. Property has flowerbeds and the backyard has an outdoor shower, herb garden, and Kettler ping pong table. Although the house is on the oceanblock, the bay is only one block away and is a peaceful place to sit and watch the sunset.
The "Old Barney" Lighthouse and nature walk, Mustache Bill's Diner, The Islander General Store, and antique stores are only a 10 minute walk away. White's Market (with butcher shop) Cassidy's Seafood Shop, and Frank's Produce can provide all the provisions you need and are a quick walk. Barnegat Light is for nature lovers ... if you want more excitement, Beach Haven is a short drive away.

Why the Owner Chose Barnegat Light
My husband's family has been vacationing in Barnegat Light for over thirty years and there is no place we'd rather be in the summer. We both love the quiet, small-town feel of the village, and the gorgeous natural beauty of the beaches/dunes. We fell in love with our house because we wanted a true "beach cottage" and not a suburban home on the beach.
The Unique Benefits of this House
The property has tons of character and is very private. The house is situated so that most activity is in the backyard/decks and there are mature trees and wild vines surrounding our house. We love to cook, grill, and garden. It's not a fancy house but it is extremely comfortable and charming.
