Walk to the Beach, Surf & Downtown Biarritz
Why the Owner Chose Biarritz
We were first attracted to Biarritz by the surfing, but we settled there because of the charm of the Pays Basque.
The Unique Benefits at this Condo
We love to check the surf throughout the day from the Côte des Basques and enjoy the breath taking views of Spain. We also like to get coffee in the morning or sangria at sunset from the outdoor café & tapas bar on the Côte des Basques. We enjoy eating at the great Basque restaurant, the Cidrerie Hernani, down the street - a local favorite! Our bakery is Le Fournil du Rocher, two blocks away.
Protected beach ideal for swimming, just 10 minutes walk from our apartment.
Good surf spot, right down town, 10 minutes walk from our place. That's where are all the shops, restaurants, night life, tourist Information, etc
Daily Covered Farmer Market: great choice of local fruits & vegetables, meat & cheeses, bread and pastry, etc With a great, busy, friendly atmosphere...
A very small & quaint fishing port with just a couple restaurants, one of them serving simple, delicious local sea food: calamari kebabs, grilled sardine and the typical stuffed peppers.

I stayed at this property with three of my friends for a surf trip in November. First off, Biarritz is an ideal location for a Basque Coast surf trip. Anglet and Hossegor/Seignosse generally have the best surf in the area, but Biarritz is a much more lively and interesting place to stay and Anglet and Hossegor are only a short drive away. I have travelled to many places in the world to surf and I would return here to surf over any other place. As for this apartment in particular, I thought it was an ideal property for the price. The apartment was very clean and is in a very good location -- close to the "old port" area of Biarritz to go out but far enough away that it is quiet at night. Plus, the best boulangerie in Biarritz is around the corner (corner of Ave. Carnot and Rue Gambetta). The apartment was clean, the owners were very nice and easy to reach, and the property manager was able to meet us late on a Saturday night to give us the keys and help us move in. The only drawback with the apartment is that it is on the bottom floor so there is a lack of sunlight. However, we spent most of the daylight hours outside so this did not bother us.

As a family of four on a budget trip to France and Spain, this was the perfect accommodation for a week in a Basque beach town! From the train station, it was about 10 minutes on the bus and 5 minutes walk to the apartment. Simple, clean, and with all the necessaries, we enjoyed our stay completely. Within a few minutes, we could walk to the beach, the farmer's market, the local bakeries, pharmacy, whatever we needed. We were visiting in June, and had sunny days, cloudy days, and a day of warm, tropical rain. We enjoyed the nightly beach party of the week-long Ocean Festival and went swimming or surfing every day. Our home-cooked meals were made with produce from the farmer's market. (Look for strawberries!) We ran out of time to sample all the regional wines and cheeses, which all go down very well with a baguette from a local bakery. Another highlight was enjoying the dance performances and eating tapas on the street during the Summer Solstice Music Festival. The park next to the apartment hosts the Thursday evening jai alai games. Biarritz was very good to us, and this apartment was a great home base for our walks around town. No car rental required! This tidy apartment has all the basics for a family stay. The photos give a good representation of what you'll grow fond of while visiting.

Good deal !!!

Biarritz is a wonderful city in a great location for enjoying this corner of France. We stayed in this apartment for a week in September with another couple who had never been to France. None of us are surfers, but we loved the town and the area. Everything we needed was within walking distance, and the apartment is very comfortable for four adults. We loved being able to walk down to the ocean even if we weren’t surfing and it was a bit cool for swimming. Shoppers beware because the shops and boutiques in Biarritz are to die for! Though we are Francophones, we did not know this region well, and Biarritz is a perfect base camp for exploration. We even did an easy day trip to Bilbao to see the Guggenheim Museum. Another day we explored the villages in the Pyrenees, including Espelette where I saw the origin of my favorite spice, and decided that we must return to hike. Sebastian, St. Jean de Luz, Bayonne are all very close and all interesting visits. Biarritz, itself, is a beautiful town with a fascinating history. Though we cooked most of our meals at home, Emmanuelle and John gave us some great recommendations for restaurants. As you would expect, wonderful fish! This is an affordable, comfortable apartment that we hope to visit again.

We have stayed in this house several times and keep going back. It is so well located, nicely appointed and comfortable. It's not big like American houses, but has everything we needed: two nice bedrooms one with beds for three to sleep, a well designed all be it small kitchen, a nice bathroom with shower and washing machine, and a comfortable living room/dining room. It's so close to the beaches (in five minutes we were on the beach renting surfboards), the downtown (great downtown with shops, cafe's and an incredible promenade) , all the restaurants (seafood is plentiful) and a farmer's market that is open every day of the week. It doesn't have an outdoor patio or deck, but we didn't mind this after spending all day at the beach or outdoors walking around. Plus, there's a park right next door where we could have easily taken our food and had a picnic. Because it so close to the heart of everything, it's not easy to park in the summer. So, we pulled up in front of the house, unloaded, and then went to park the car further away. We found we didn't need the car all week since everything including groceries was within walking distance. It's not a luxury kind of place but rather a cute, comfortable, well-designed rental apartment in a totally great part of France. Location, Location, Location and a comfortable apartment. Super combination for a great price tool

We rented this condo for a week in July 2010. My husband and I and my two children (17 and 14). Just the right size for a family of 4. We cooked most of our meals at the condo. Food is all you need to prepare a good meal. Super location. You are a walk away from the beaches and the main areas of interest. (Museum of chocolate, the beaches, rocher de la vierge, the market, shopping, etc) What you see from the pictures is what you get (simple and clean). Great restaurant two steps away (Hernani). Close by, you can visit Pau, Espelette, St-Jean-de-Luz, and Spain (San Sebastian). If you have a car, you can also visit Arcachon and the dune du Pila an hour away; it is very impressive and worth the drive. We had a great time in Biarritz. We would go back anytime. The owners are very courteous and informative. We highly recommend this condo.

This accommodation is in a great location in Biarritz. Close to the great surfing beaches and right beside wonderful bakeries, shops, great markets and a variety of restaurants. We also had the free shuttle bus to the pleasure beaches. Having wi-fi was very handy and we realy enjoyed our time there. There is a park and playground next door and we saw some great games of traditional pelota played by local teams. A car is not really needed as parking is limited but if you are prepared to walk a few streets away it can be found. I would recommend it to anyone who wants to really enjoy what is best about Biarritz.

I was able to rent this home last year and could not have made a better choice! The home is very comfortable and has everything I needed. Though I am from the U.S. and am use to a little larger quarters this worked beautifully! I felt very European! The location is also perfect. A pleasant walk to two different beaches, cafes, shopping. There is a very cool cafe right on the bluff a short 10 minute walk away. All the locals go there for a glass of wine or beer and pinxtos during sunset. Very fun and beautiful! I highly recommend this place for a charming stay in beautiful Biarritz!

We stayed here for a week in August with our two tennage daughters - the apartment is great value compared to the cost of staying in hotels - and is in a great location. There are local shops/ restaurants/ boulangeries within 5 minutes walk or another few minutes will bring you to the lovely market and the centre of Biarritz. Likewise the beaches - the long surfing cote des basques is just a block away or the grand plage is about 10 minutes walk. Biarritz is a lovely, lively and vibrant city - it has amazing restaurants, interesting shops, beautiful beaches, dramatic coastline, culture, beautiful buildings and quaint corners _ something for everyone!
