Cottage is just as described in other reviews - clean, centrally located and well stocked.Weather was way less than perfect during our stay (tropical storm and all that!) but deck provided a nice place to read and relax with a glass of wine and watch the rain and wind effects. Recommend Chilipeppers for shrimp, Black Pelican for pizza, Capt Franks for Hot Dogs and best find of all was Kill Devil Grill - great meal! Found it odd there was not a separate container to collect recycling materials - we just dropped our recyclables off in the containers you can find at the public beach accesses on Beach Rd.

We rented for a week in July, and it was amazing. The AC works great--sometimes too good, and the deck made for a fantastic place to sit and enjoy early mornings or evenings. The bay wasn't that enjoyable for us, but we liked to go out and watch the sunset there. The close access to the beach made for an easy beach day. This house is located in the middle of everything, which made it easy to get from place to place. The beach umbrella that was in the shed, was very much appreciated, as were the 2 chairs. The house was in great condition and we had no problems. The one thing that was a nuisance were the kitchen chairs being a pain to get in and out. The outside shower was nice as well, as were the board games. Overall, this is an A+ rental & we will be renting again.

Our family (2 adults, an 8-year-old, and 2 elderly grandparents) stayed here in June 2010. We had a wonderful time. The home is very clean and well-maintained. The kitchen supplies provided (pots, pans, etc) were fairly comprehensive. The shower house and hose outside were very handy for cleaning off sand. The washer and dryer are both large- capacity, which we appreciated. All three bedrooms were good-sized with adequate storage/closet space. The best feature was definitely the beach supplies provided - bicycles, cart, chairs, umbrella, sand toys, boogie board, kayak - we used them all! The bicycles make the trip to the beach more accessible - about a 5-minute ride - as parking at the beach is hard to come by. You do have to cross a major road, but there is a pedestrian crossing. The neighborhood was very quiet. The grandparents particularly enjoyed sitting on the deck. The home is close to many restaurants and attractions but not within walking distance. Since we enjoyed biking/walking, we thought being a little removed from the beach made the home more quiet and peaceful. We would recommend this place to anyone seeking a clean, quiet, home-like setting.
Owner response:Sun Dreams is within walking distance to Henry's Restaurant, Chilipeppers Restaurant, Daniels Big Eye Seafood, and several others. Hayman Blvd (less than a minute away) provides an abundance of free oceanside parking to a seasonally life-guarded beach. They also have a rinse-off area. There are many beach accesses up and down the beach, but this one, and the one at Stop and Shop Deli, are two of the best as far as parking and amenities.

We stayed at the cottage in May 2010 with our 2.5 year old daughter and had a great time. The house is spacious, clean and brand new. We specifically enjoyed the great deck that has sun almost the entire day. We loved the proximity to the beach (5 minutes by car) and other Outer Banks attractions. The house comes with plenty of beach toys bicycles and an outdoor grill which is very convenient. The only downside we could think of the lack of a wifi internet connection.
Owner response:Clarification: It is a 5-8 minute walk to the Helga Street beach access and it is an under-a-minute drive to oceanside parking on Hayman Blvd. :)

Thank you for offering such a high quality house at an affordable price. We could not have asked for a cleaner, better stocked, or closer location to EVERYTHING than your house. The attention to detail for kitchen needs, down to beach needs was outstanding. We will gladly recommend your house! Thanks for everything, and helping us have a great vacation.

This was our first trip to the Outer Banks and it was really enjoyable thanks to the accommodations. The beach house was absolutely perfect and in brand new condition. There is nothing negative that can be said about this property. For anyone looking for a centrally located house this one is it. I'm definitely going to look for this one when I visit again. Thanks so much for the use of your house!

We had a wonderful time this past week of July 19th. thru the 26th. at the Sun Dreams cottage in Kill Devil Hills! We found the cottage to be clean and very comfortable, and very centrally located. For someone who had never been to the Outer Banks before we were surprised that it is so built up with malls, schools, etc. We had a very different idea of what the Outer Banks would be. We did find what we had imagined by travelling up the coast toward Corolla, and down to Ocracoke, but as it turned out my kids would have been bored to tears if we had been in a desolate area for the whole week so it turned out to be the perfect location! :)We throughly enjoyed all that Sun Dreams offered: the kayak, the lovely porch, the cart to take the cooler and beach chairs to the beach with, and each day we drove just a few miles and tried different stretches of beaches. We will tell all our friends about this lovely cottage and think anyone who rents it will have a great time in the OBX, just like we did!

Lori and Toby, The cottage was very clean and cozy, and we especially enjoyed the well stocked storage room - with anything you need for a fun beach vacation - beach umbrella, chairs, bikes, life jackets, sand toys, etc. It was also a great location right in the middle of OBX. We hope to return again sometime. Thanks.

Dear Lori and Toby: Just a quick note to say what a wonderful cottage you allowed us to stay in-MUCH BETTER than any four star hotel!! Everything was very clean and convenient when we moved in and your place is centrally located on the Outer Banks that we traveled both north and south easily during our week stay. We highly recommnend the Jolly Roger and Miller Restaurants for great cuisine! If we ever come back to OBX, we will be sure to check your beautiful cottage first to rent again. Thank you for your first-rate rental. The Medvec's Erie Pa

We wanted to let you know just how much we enjoyed last week in your Outer Banks cottage. The place was spotless when we arrived, and it was equipped with everything we needed to move in and get started. It is obvious that you planned the cottage and its contents very carefully, and that certainly shows in all the attention to detail. There was really nothing more we could have wanted. (My husband did think an iron and ironing board would have been a good addition, but since I do the ironing, I was happy to be without one. We were, after all, on vacation, and ironing does not fit in with my idea of vacation time! What is wrong with a few wrinkles in clothes? They hang out.) I found it very easy to keep the cottage clean. You provided us with a great home away from home at a very reasonable rate. You can be sure that if we have any occasion to return to the Outer Banks, we'll be checking you out first to see if your cottage is available! This was our first experience with VRBO, and it was such a good one for us. We had already booked another VRBO rental in Hawaii for next winter, so I feel we can now look forward to that with no trauma. Again, thanks for making our week such a wonderful experience.

Sun Dreams is very well maintained, clean and centrally located for OBX activities. I highly recommend Sun Dreams. Also for great food at low prices try Mako Mikes! OBX in November when most crowds are gone is a great time to visit OBX.

My friend and I arrived late in the evening to find that the house was absoultely SPOTLESS, comfortably furnished, and located in a quiet neighborhood. The kitchen was well-equipped, and the bedrooms/bathrooms were clean and comfortable. The beach was close by, and the house was centrally located to everything else we wanted to do. We loved the house and upon our return home, we recommended it to all our friends seeking a quiet place to stay in the Outer Banks.

We had a great time this week in your pretty little cottage. Our favorite part was the bicycles since our truck ended up in the shop for a couple of days. They proved invaluable since we rode them everywhere. And the kitchen is certainly well stocked.

We really enjoyed our stay at your beach house! It was perfect for our large family. Not only did we enjoy many hours on the beach, but we also visited all the sites like Ocracoke, the four lighthouses, the Wright Bros. Memorial, and Corolla Beach where the wild mustangs were. Your cottage was centrally locatd and made it very convenient to go to the places we wanted to see. The cottage was very well stocked with all we needed, especially the kitchen. This was a wonderful and relaxing vacationl.
