What a beautiful surprise it was for my husband and I when we pulled into the long driveway filled with palm trees and arrived to the cottage. It was beyond what we expected! The lush garden surrounding us was unbelievable. Lisa and David have created such a special place for renters, on their beautiful farm. You have literally everything you need. From cooking to even being able to do your own laundry. And what a great idea with the bath and shower outside. Also many different books about the history of Kauai and the hiking trails with maps and all specials things you can do on the Island depending on which time of the year you are visiting. If you are looking for seclusion, peace and serenity, this is the place to be. You do wake up early with the roosters walking around everywhere but we loved it. There are so many things to do on Kauai that you do want to wake up early.:-) You will be a part of the locals on the north shore, so make sure you ask about all the hidden spots and best sights. Don't forget to try the local bakery in Kilauea for fresh coffee in the morning. Along with the lighthouse bistro at night for great local food and live music. I would recommend this place to anybody looking for peace...It's heaven! Mahalo again Lisa & David. We will be back sooner than we thought!!! Warmest Aloha- Isa & Shawn

We spend 8 days at the cottage for our December honeymoon and loved every moment. It is quiet, secluded and comfortable. The owners have created a special retreat for travelers wishing to avoid the crowds at typical resorts and condo properties. The kitchen is great for light cooking and the cottage is a wonderful place to hang out and listen to the winter rain and wind. We loved sleeping with the sounds of the garden. Also within in easy distance of Kilauea, Anini Beach, and Hanelei, the cottage is in a perfect location to explore the North Shore of Kauai. I hope we'll be back, sooner rather than later!
Owner response:Dear Andrea, Thank you for your lovely review. I'm always happy when I know that our guests have really enjoyed their stay. The Hideaway is a great spot for those seeking an affordable, private, peaceful place that is within easy access to everything they might need. Honeymooners love it and we have dozens of repeat guests who return year after year to their home away from home. We hope you become one of them! Warmest Aloha, Lisa

We were looking for a quiet get a way. Not a big hotel resort experience. The pix, the description the price were all perfect. But there's always a chance those pix are 10 years old or don't reflect mildew smells or other unexpected surprises. Not the case here!! This is the perfect hide a way experience! From the minute we turned onto the property the magic began. Lovely. PRIVATE! Cared for with kindness and a general good vibe that is evident throughout! We had never been to Kauai so we had places to go and things to see, but it was tempting to just stay home and enjoy the luxurious peace of this place! Hope to return again! Very grateful for how these lodgings added to our trip!!
Owner response:Dear Johnny and Angel, I am always so pleased when our guests truly appreciate all of the love and time and care that go into creating such a clean, simple, homey cottage that has everything they will need for a comfortable, relaxing stay. There is so much to see and do on our Island, but it's also nice to know that the Hideaway is waiting for you at anytime. Many of our guests say that it is hard to leave and get out to do things because they enjoy the privacy of the cottage and its beautiful surroundings so much. We look forward to hosting you again and hope you have an opportunity to stay longer on your next visit. Mahalo Nui, Lisa

A great spot--feels very secluded and private yet really isn't far away from things at all. Perfect if you want to relax and linger a little in the mornings or just hang out in the evenings. Surrounded by palms, birdsong and geckos you definitely feel like you are experiencing Kauai and don't need to rush out to see it. In fact, a couple rainy mornings we found it difficult to motivate to leave! Feels very spacious inside --the pictures don't show the peaked ceilings--great for listening to those nighttime and early morning tropical rains! And the cross breezes keep it a comfortable temperature. The outdoor shower and tub are a fantastic feature--one shower outside under the stars or daytime sun and you definitely know you're on vacation! We also appreciated all the little tucked away details like the hidden TV and ipod dock so if you want to watch TV or listen to music you can, but it's not in your face if you don't. The only thing that would make it better for me would be a more complete kitchen but it's perfectly functional for small simple meals which is probably all most people want to prepare on vacation. And there is a grill outside for all that delicious fresh fish! Overall, so happy we found this place, it really made our trip all the more special!
Owner response:Thank you for your lovely review! I'm happy to know that our Garden Hideaway added to the specialness of your Kauai vacation. It is a very light, airy and spacious cottage. It's a perfect spot for those looking for seclusion and privacy with close access to just about everything, whether shopping and dining or quiet beaches and rivers. As you noted, the kitchen is best for those who are wanting to do light cooking, rather than gourmet meals. We do have basic cookware as well as little extras like a coffee grinder, blender, steam basket and salad spinner. Our washer/dryer combo also comes in very handy. The TV in the cabinet pulls and swivels so you can watch it from bed or from the living area. Our guests' comfort and enjoyment is our utmost concern. We want you to feel at home at the Garden Hideaway.

Immersed in a tropical paradise, this private cottage is both secluded and wildly accompanied by the arresting views of a bordering palm tree nursery, mountain fauna and 360 nature. Wake up to the smell of moist soil and to a live concert of Kaua'i's raw and compelling natural soundtrack.

It is the perfect place to relax for a couple. You get a house for you alone in the middle of a magnificent garden with outside shower and bath tub. A beautiful interior with attention to detail in Hawaiian style and delicious organic fruits. From there you can easily reach all the amazing beaches of the northeastern part of the island.

Sebastopol, California Sep 18, 2009 We only stayed a week in this peaceful and very private cottage, complete with a lush fragant garden and all the conveniences, but the memories keep coming back. The setting couldn't have been better - it is situated in the midst of tropical gardens, just a short drive from several great North Shore beaches and hiking trails. Every morning we were greeted by a beautiful sunrise scene from the bedroom window and in the evening we dined looking out the courtyard window at the private garden. The king size bed was very comfortable, the kitchen had everything (including a washer/dryer), and there is a great the outdoor shower and tub (we loved showering in the starry night). The cottage has shelves of books about the area, and also wonderful selection of CDs for all musical tastes. Lisa and David were the perfect hosts, thoughtful and knowledgeable about Kauai, they offered great suggestions for activities and places to visit. We hope to come back and stay there again and again!

We had read about theHideaway and all it had to offer and we were definitely not disappointed, After our busy days exploring all the wonders of the island it was so nice to come home to out bungalow. It truely had everythingwe could need for uor leisurely time there. Of course, the outdoor bath and shower was fabulous, really loved the setting, the gardens, the birds singing- just a fantastic place. We can't wait to do it again!

"This has been just what the doctor ordered- a non-stress getaway. You have all of the comforts of home- even a T.V. for my Yoga tape. The decor is simple and elegant with a touch of Bali. One can space out on the lovely view from the windows of ironwood branches and palm fronds swaying in the breeze. And how fun to shower outdoors and then sit in the interior garden. How magical to wake up to the sound of so many birds singing and at night to see so many stars. I have forgotten the stress of work- Thank you, it has been wonderful.

"Wow! The Hideaway is even bigger than I imagined from the images on the web. Everything is perfect! The privacy and the setting made it hard for us to go to the beach. Just the right music, videos, and even cookware. I could live here forever!"

"As a couple of architects escaping our travails, it is a joy to stay here where everything is perfect. We thank you for the thought and care that you obviously bestowed on this romantic place. The design, the materials and colors, the craftmanship - here is love and peace. We will remember this, and take a little of it with us when we go."
