The second floor is the main living area with cathedral ceilings and large 17-foot peaked windows with views of White Heat, Shockwave and Obsession trails of the famous Sunday River Ski Resort. The main level has 1 bedroom with thick wall-to-wall carpeting and a porcelain-tiled bathroom with shower; a spacious living room (2 large sleeper sofas, satellite TV, DVD, 5-speaker Sony home theater system), remote-controlled gas fire place with large fieldstone hearth; a dining room with a 10-person dining room table with an elegant twig style dark bronze chandelier; radiant-heated maple & porcelain-tiled floors; gourmet kitchen with stainless steel appliances, including gas cook stove and gourmet cooking tools, microwave, fridge, dishwasher, and laundry area; and a large deck with a brand new top-of-the-line 6-person Artesian Spa Hot Tub. Year Purchased: 2007
The Double Diamond Lodge was a design concept that myself and an architect/ski-friend developed from our rental experiences while skiing all over the US and Canada. This home was entirely custom built from the ground up with a skier and/or snowboarder in mind; it’s comfortable, has great views, the layout makes it easy to entertain guests, and the DDL just plain makes you feel really good while kicking back after a long day on the slopes…the hot tub certainly helps too. The Double Diamond Lodge is truly something special and one of a kind.
Why the Owner Chose Newry
I’m really happy with the location of my home largely for the nice neighborhood and fantastic views of my favorite mountain peak at Sunday River; White Cap. It’s really nice soaking up the afternoon sun out on the deck during the late winter and early spring time; simply taking in all the natural scenery around Powder Ridge and across the Sunday River valley has become a favorite pastime.
