Groundfloor: from the livingroom (TV, dvd, stereo, ) , with corner fireplace and large window doors to the terrace an archway opens into the fully eqipped kitchen (4flame gas stove, oven, dishwasher, fridge/freezew combination, toaster, American & Italian coffee maker etc. etc. ) with additional dining space. also here a direct access to the terrace, that stretches along the complete housefront. Straight on the spacious bedroom no. 1 (2 singles, 1 sofa bed) with ensuite bathroom.
Upstairs in the airy living tower a 2nd bedroom (double, queen size, double sofa bed), again with ensuite shower/toilet,+ ceiling fan. All bedroom windows have mosquito screens

The lovely cottage 'Casa Capannina', a small semiattached quarrystone villa, is set slightly aside with its back to the other 3 buildings of Poderi Val Verde, which guarantees much privacy.
It was constructed with quarystones by the farmers when clearing woodlands and macchia slopes to prepare land for vineyards and olivegroves .Stones that traditionally were use for building houses or terrassed-walls. Its original use was as stable for cows . Prove of this gives the typical long house structure, its low ceilings and separate position.
This cottage, completely restored in 2009, when we also added additional living space (the 'tower') is the perfect location for honeymooners, 2 couples or a small family looking for privacy and peace - and is the perfect starting point for sightseeing since most important sights can be easily reached within an hours drive.
Especially here is the 'rule' - enjoy the sunset in complete silence from your terrace with its shady pavillon, garden furniture, sunbeds as well as a bbq. Gaze onto onto the extended gardens, the romantic creek and the surrounding maddows and vast macchia covered hills of this private property of more then 76 ha.
Start your hiking and biking directly form your doorsteps on well marked trails. Or simply take a stroll on our meditation trail along the small creek with its waterfalls, walk up to the waterlily pond or through the valley to the nearby town of Castellina in Chianti .
Or take a dip in the large community swimming pool that you share with very few other guests (5,5x11x1,50m and 2x3m splashpool entrance platform for the smallest, ). during cooler months of april and oct you may use the owner's covered (unheated) pool on request
The extended leisure areas and wellcared gardens of more then 2 ha , equipped with garden furniture, the childrens playground with soccer field, ping-pong table, sandbox with fairhouse and swing, .are the pride of the German owner and her staff. Cascades of flowers, rose bushes, citrus fruits as well as the surrounding meadows with many rare types of orchids and wild herbs create the unforgettable image of a lost paradise..
Animated is this small paradise by various cats, 2 freeroaming wellbehaved dogs (1 male, 1 lively female), a pictoresque small herd of cameroon sheep, chicken, geese, ducks, pigeons and more. Stunning the variaty of birds and butterflies as well as fireflies. And with a bit of patience one may also see wild boars, deer and roe deer, foxes, badgers and porcupines as well as the rare Tuscan eagle that breeds in our valley.
The housing complex is surrounded by grass, gravel - as well as terracotta paved walks and stairs which join the different levels with their romantic porches and apartments. Several natural quarry stone terraces with solitary trees like cypresses, acacia, pine and oak trees are leading to the small creek where the real wild nature begins.
Admire the increditable variaty if wild flowers and walk along small trails that we cut right through the maddows - amazing the spectacle of fireflies in late May and June, the rare songs of the our numerous nightingales and the concert of hundreds of birds in the morning and evening. Because of its privacy and our efforts this is still a rare paradise - and only minutes from the next town center !!!
When planing your trip take in consideration that due to our perfect location, most important sights can be easily reached within 1 hours drive. Also please dont forget to leave some space for one of the many concerts, horseback riding or some evening with newfound friends or maybe a halfday cookery course with local dishes. Extremes like biking on the new trail up at the Apennin mountains or island hoping on the Tuscan coast are also possible.

“Great location!” Reviewed June 12, 2011 2 people found this review helpful A large group of family and friends rented the main villa and cottage for a week. The owners Urlike and her gorgeous son Fabion were the perfect hosts! They were very anxious to offer advice on daily trips and local events. The rooms were clean and the villa was spacious, had all the amenaties and perfect to be with with family and friends. (I highly recommend if you rent the villa and want to be away from the group to get the downstairs room, your own terrace, side living area with kitchen, very cute). The property was adorable, centered in it's own valley, surrounded by flowers, farm and wildlife(although I could have done without the rooster). One of my highlights was being able to hold a one day old sheep and seeing a porcupine that Fabion killed with his bow and arrow (with assistance from Todo one of the family dogs...it might be road kill to some, but an adventure for a Florida girl). I could not have imagined a better location!! You must check out the small towns and vineyards nearby, they were by far my favorite, above the touristy areas like Florence and Siena (which were only 30-45 minutes away). Rada, San Gimingano, Castel Brolio and their own town of Castellini are MUSTS! (For the ladies out there, do not pass up the leather purses in San Gimigano for hopes of better prices in a large city, it will not happen and I regret waiting!). I was staying on the property at the same time as the previous reviewers(they would not talk to any of the guests)...please do not let their view taint you . I will only agree that the beds were not the best regarding comfort, a little lumpy, but after day 2 we were so tired from all of our adventures that you were out as soon as your head hit the pillow. Yes it is not a frilly or fancy it is like a home. For me, you make romance anywhere you are and I would much rather enjoy experiencing the locals, they way they live and the area, than be secluded, isn't that what traveling is all about? One other piece of advice for those that do not like to follow the tourist buses and mobs. On the drive up from Rome go up the coast to the villa and stop by the island of Monte Argentario, then when you go back to Rome you have to stop by Oriveto! “Beautiful Place equaled by a great location, we will be back!” Reviewed July 5, 2011 3 people found this review helpful My wife and I along with our friends enjoyed a beautiful week at Poderi Val Verde. It was a wonderful "Tuscan" experience. We do not hand out compliments such as this lightly. We have been traveling several times a year in Europe for the last 11 years. We also own a newspaper and we are travel writers as well. Poderi Val Verde and its owners make for a terrific Tuscan vacation. Our accomodations were excellent, especially for the price. We were traveling with another couple and our house was very comfortable including two baths, two bedroom, a very nice, well stocked kitchen and a good sitting room. Most of our evenings and early mornings were spent on the patio enjoying the wine and foods of the region. Our days were filled with traveling around Chianti at will, carefree and surrounded by great food and friendly people. This is a perfect location to base your visit to the area. Ulrike gave us many good tips of places to see, avoiding traffic and lots of other advice. She reminded us of a favorite aunt or cousin. All four of us had an instant bond with Ulrike and found her charming. Her fig jam, fresh eggs and olive oil graced our table each day and were all outstanding. I am not sure what some of the folks with negative comments were expecting but our group felt that Ponderi Val Verde and its owners were fairly represented on their web site and were exactly what we were looking for in an Italian vacation. The quiet and beauty of the country side at Ponderi Val Verde are habit forming and we cannot wait to go back. However, be sure and book the welcome dinner. It is so very good but it gives you the chance to meet other guests, ask questions about the area and start your stay off right. You will probably run into some of the other guests in town. Take some time to enjoy Castellina in Chianti. And, do not miss Siena and San Gimignano as well. We will be recommending Ulrike and our new Italian home away from home to our readers. come down and relax” Reviewed September 30, 2011 1 person found this review helpful 2001 we found this lovely place in the tuscany. We also found nature, silence, friends and recreation. Since 2001 we nearly spend every year our holiday at this beautiful place. The holiday starts on saturday with a dinner together with Ulrike (the owner of this place) and the other guests. It´s a perfect possibility to get in contact with different people. Poderi val verdi is also a perfect basis for discovering the Tuscany. Florenz, Sienna, San Gimignano (less than 1 our), Volterra, Lucca: close enough for a daytrip - and Ulrike can give a great support where to go, where to eat, what to see. But: you can also just stay at poderi val verde: relaxing, swimming, have an espresso with grappa, relaxing, swimming, have a glas of red vine with procutto and cheese, relax, swimming - day pass by very quick. Even our 2 boys (meanwhile 18 and 21) still love to come with us to Ulrike. "The best Holidays for ever" Hätten wir im Vorfeld gewusst dass, die Wohnung so gut ausgestattet war hätten wir sehr viel zu Hause lassen z.B hätten wir uns unsere lange reise per auto sparen können da, wir sogar eine eigene Waschmaschine und Handtücher zur verfügung gestellt bekamen.Die Bettwäsche und die Handtücher wurden nach einer woche gewechselt. Als wir die 13 stündige Fahrt hinter uns hatten, kochte Ulrike uns ein Willkommensessen ,das dazu diente die anderen Urlauber am ersten und nicht erst am letzten Tag kennenzulernen - so haben wir gleich an ersten abend gefunden.Ulrike kochte auf italjenische art so bezauberte sie uns mit leichter italjenischter sommerküche. Der Pool wurde täglich sauber gemacht. Die Wohnung war wunderschön. Die Küche ausgestattet mit 4 Gasplatten und einen Backofen.Wir bekamen Gewürze und salz zur verfügung gestellt.Wir hatten 2 Schlafzimmer und 2 Bäder und 2 sofa und 1 ausklappsofa.und 2 sessel .Die Betten waren bequem.Wir bekamen 5 liegen auf der Tarasse zur verfügung gestellt.Wir konnten drinnen sowie essen um den draußen-Tisch war ein Zelt das man wenn man wollten mit moskito-netz verschliesen konnte. Die anlage war toll. Wir hatten einen riesigen pool und ein Fußballfeld sowie ein Volleyballfeld und für die kleineren von uns einensandkasten und ein plastik Haus. Die Umgebung war toll wir lagen in der mitte von siana,florenze und san gimmiano und waren in der nähen von castelina. Am meisten mochte ich die Hunde und die Katzen und den pool und die vielen netten Leute. "Find a romantic place in the heart of Tuscany - near to Siena an" We just returned from one of our most pleasant vacations we had in the past years. Surrounded by the most famous wine cellars of the Chianti Classico, we stayed in a romantic Cottage on the resort of "Poderi Val Verde". The very nice owner Ulrike already spoiled us on our day of arrival with a light and delicious Italian menu. As a result we had the opportunity to meet new friends already on the very first evening and to give our children a good start in their vacations. We booked two further dinners with Ulrike as well as her excellent cooking class. Especially the children had a lot of fun, learning the fundamentals of italian cuisine. The cottage was superbly equipped. The two bathrooms were just as luxury as our 20-metre wide terrace. Shower and bath towels spoiled us as much as e.g. hair dryer or iron. The swimming pool was located in a lovely spot and was enjoyed by everybody - children and adults. We can recommend this wonderful resort to families as well couples or singles. It gives you a pleasant time to relax and is an ideal starting point for your excursions through the vineyards and historic sites of Tuscany.Did you find this review helpful? "Beyond all expectations" Our stay in Podere Val Verde was as close to perfect as you are going to get. We booked Casa Cappannina for 4 adults and my 2 year old boy, the accomodation was lovely, clean spacious and all the amenities you need for a stay in the Tuscan hills. We really had a home from home for our weeks holiday and it was sad to leave on ourt last day. The location is idyllic, set in a beautiful valley surrounded by nature. The grounds are well kept with a nice pool and small play area for children. Staying in Podere we were just a short 10 miniute drive from Castellina in Chianti, a beautiful little town with a supermarket, butchers, bakers, nice restaurants and an abundance of great wine to sample on your stay (plus the best Gelato you will ever taste at antica Delizia) You are also centrally located for easy access to both Florence and Siena. Our host Ulrike was lovely and laid on a fantastic welcome meal on our arrival which was full of great quality igredients from the immediate vicinity, it was a great start to our Holiday. Simply put, Podere Val Verde is a fantastic place for a holiday that will suit you perfectly whether you are looking for a bit of rustic relaxation or a base for a bit of adventure in the Tuscan HillsDid you find this review helpful? Der alte Bauernhof liegt in einem kleinen Tal ungefähr in der Mitte zwischen Florenz und Siena. Beides ca. 30 bis 40 Minuten entfernt. Auch San Giminiano, Volterra und viele andere wunderschöne kleine Orte sind mit dem Auto gut zu erreichen. Wir waren im kleinsten Appartement, el Rifugio. Die Ausstattung war zweckmäßig und sauber. Vor allem die Küchenausstattung umfangreich, es gab kleine Startpackete mit Kaffee, Zucker etc. Aus dem Kräutergarten konnten wir uns jeder Zeit bediehnen. Am meisten beeindruckt hat uns aber die riesengroße Terasse mit 2 Liegen, Tisch und Stühlen. Den ganzen Tag Sonne und Schatten, wie man es möchte. Der Pool , auch mit vielen Liegen ausgestattet liegt unterhalb der entgegengesetzten Seite des Hauses, so dass man fatst nichts davon hört. Die Anlage wird sehr engagiert, freundlich und hilfsbereit von Ulrike Eder geführt. Das Willkommensessen köstlich und eine gute Gelegenheit die anderen Gäste kennen zu lernen. wir waren im August 2011 in der Toskana und haben einen sehr schönen Urlaub in der Poderi Val Verde erlebt. Wir hatten die Ferienwohnung Il Rifugio gebucht. Die Wohnung ist sehr gemütlich eingerichtet und hat eine tolle, große Terasse auf der man bei einer guten Flasche Rotwein, die ruhigen Abende geniessen kann. Die Anlage ist liebevoll gepflegt. Es gibt einen sehr schönen Pool und jeden Tag tolle Tipps und Infos von der Inhaberin. Nicht versäumen sollte man Ihr Willkommensessen. Die Poderi Val Verde ist eine tolle Unterkunft, sie liegt ideal für Ausflüge nach Florenz, Siena und San Gimingnano und u.E. in einem der schönsten Teile der Toskana. We found this property to be an excellent location for taking day trips to nearby hill top cities. It is located only about 1 mile from Castellina in Chianti, where there are excellent restaurants, grocery and wine shops. We had a perfect week in Chianti with cool temperatures, fewer tourists, and no rain. The temperatures were such that we did not utilize their in ground pool. I would recommend purchasing their breakfast services. It is a great time to meet other guests and discuss where others have gone the previous day for sightseeing, etc. Ulrike (a German) maintains a very tidy facility and unlike some facilities in Italy, everything works well! We also enjoyed Ulrike's culinary expertise. She is an excellent chef!Recommended for: Sightseeing, age 55+.

Why the Owner Chose Castellina in Chianti:
Was infected with the 'Tusan virus' after my first visit (like so many others) some 30 years ago and after various vacations decided to finally settle in the heart of Tuscany - the Chianti Classico' area. Here I found everything I ever longed for - nature, peace, clean air, good food and fantastic wines and culture of the highest level. After some years I decided to share my experiences (also cooking) with guest from all over the world and opened a rental activity.
