My husband and I were there for 9 nights in October and had a great time. You have a great locations and unit. It was a perfect location as our son only lives about a mile from there, so him and the grandkids were over often. Great location for exploring the area. Wonderful restaurants nearby including Poe's and Ragtime Taverns, Mellow Mushroom, Joe's Crab Shack, Salt Life, etc. Thanks for sharing your unit with us and we hope to return again next year.

Owner response: Thanks for your review and we're so glad you enjoyed your stay and got to visit with your family. October is a great time of year here--still warm, less humid and crowds. I still haven't tried Poe's but your comments are going to get me there!
The condo was wonderful, It looked just like the pictures. It was so peaceful and quiet, we really enjoyed our stay. My husband had never been to Florida or the Alantic Ocean so he lived out on the balcony most of the time. We also had a beautiful full moon during out stay. If we ever get to come back we definetely would stay there again. Thanks for the use of you condo.

What a wonderful place to stay-right on the beach-our own pool-and a very comfortable, light and bright condo. Having the end unit gives you lots of windows and therefore natural light, and the wrap-around balcony is awesome. We hated to leave the view, we even had a beautiful full moon while we were there. What more could you ask for! We hope to come back next year.

Great condo! The wrap around balcony and ocean view is awesome! The master suite is very roomy and comfortable. We loved the TVs in both bedrooms as well as the living room. The kitchen was well stocked with pots, pans, dishes, coffee pot, toaster and microwave. The view of the ocean from the living room was wonderful. Gail and Lynn are so wonderful and easy to work with. They go out of their way to ensure your stay is all you expect it to be.

Great Condo, wonderful view of the ocean
Great Condo, wonderful view of the ocean
This is our second stay at this condo, and it is a great condo at a great price. The condo was clean, and the pictures just dont adequately convey the view. Its a corner unit on the top floor, so you get a really excellent view of the ocean. The beach is right there with easy access. The location is perfect. You can walk to the pier and check out the shops and restaurants there. I like the new patio furniture. The taller chairs give a great view over the railing.

I loved it. I wanted to quiet place where I could look out over the water at night and I found it. The nighttime view when lightening strikes out over the Atlantic was just the spark I needed to get back into my own painting. When I left here I immediately stocked up on my canvasses and my juices began to flow as I drove out of town. Sad to see it go but anticipating my return again. It was the perfect condo and the owners accommodating my every meed made up for the lack of a doorman or anything that the higher places offer. This place is perfect.

A total disappointment
A total disappointment
My husband and I arrived at the condo on Saturday very much excited to enjoy a week at the "fully stocked and furnished...with all new windows, doors, railings, updated baths and bedding...(with) updated furnishings..." Condo. What we found was extremely disappointing. We have rented often through VRBO and this unit was by far the most tired, outdated and poorly kept we have ever been in. The popcorn ceiling in the kitchen is coming down, the medicine cabinets are rusted and no amount of tin foil linings are going to cover that up. The toilet paper holder in the master is rusted and barely hanging by a screw. The lighting in the kitchen gives a strobe effect. The updated furniture was where? The bathrooms were updated when? Cable wires hanging loose from nails, everywhere it seemed we looked. Mismatched tables and lamps in the master and not much else. The shower faucet in the bathroom was scaled and rusted green and one knob was missing its cover. I suppose everything was clean enough, but it was hard to be sure due to the extreme age of everything. Paint peeling, popcorn ceilings flaking, yellowing and stained, deteriorating patio chairs..we expected so much better. A beachfront rental, with sun and sand so close, should sparkle. This unit was tired and depressing. We found another rental down the beach, spent one night in this unit and were gone by 10:45 on Sunday morning. We knew we were out the money but we couldn't spend an entire week here.

Owner response: We have worked very hard to make our condo on the beach comfortable and inviting. We pride ourselves on keeping the unit clean and well stocked. We represent the unit as honestly as possible, and although our unit may not have the latest furnishings, we think it is tasteful and designed to make everyone feel right at home on the beach. We have many photos posted and additional photos on Facebook, so the guests should have known in advance what the unit looked like. We never were given an opportunity to correct or remedy anything. The guests left without any word and I assume they found something more in line with their tastes. Since purchasing the condo in 2006, we have replaced all of the furnishings, replaced the vanities in both bathrooms, replaced the interior and balcony doors, replaced the CH&A (2012), painted the entire unit twice (most recently Feb 2013), updated the kitchen utensils and cookware, replaced all the appliances and televisions, and reupholstered the PVC furniture on the balcony, to name just a few of what we consider as updates. We did take some of the reviewer's suggestions and made some changes. We changed out the medicine cabinets, which had some rust on the inside shelves, replaced the shower head in the master bathroom, replaced the previously updated (2007) brushed nickel toilet paper holder in the master bath--which we agree was a nightmare with the harsh oceanfront environment. We replaced our shower faucet handles, as there was a missing faceplate cover (quarter sized) over the screw that held the handle in place. The "loose cable wiring" was a result of the recent paint job (Feb 2013) and wasn't properly refastened by the painter in MBR--with some loose clips. To comment on the MBR furniture, we have a beautiful matching triple dresser, mirror, armoire, a wall attached headboard of a similar wood/rattan style. The bedside tables are not part of a "matched set," but clean and functional. There is a popcorn ceiling that has an area of missing popcorn along a kitchen ceiling area, measures approximately 2" x 18". We plan on redoing the popcorn ceilings with a knockdown finish when our budget and time allows. We have never received such a scathing review and can only postulate what the guests were thinking. We have taken their criticism to heart and will continue to strive in making positive changes to our beachfront condo.
Excellent rental; hope to use it again
Excellent rental; hope to use it again
Just returned from week-long stay for my checkup at Mayo. It is perfect, the location, the balcony is to die for. Peaceful, calming and relaxing. It was roomy and well maintained. Restaurants are just up the street, Beach Boulevard has 2 Publix stores, a Walmart Supercenter and Target right down the street and 20 minutes to St. Augustine and gyms and Mayo is 10 minutes away. Perfect for small families and couples who want their own bathroom. Walk to the pier, walk to eat Joe's Crab Shack, Carrabases Italian Restaurant or just walk to Walgreens. I have to come back in 6 months and I will definitely check here first.

About the owner: My sister, Gail, and we (Lynn & Jim) own the condo listing VRBO#115236, which is located on family friendly Jacksonville Beach, Florida. We grew up here and live here, which makes owning a vacation rental easy to manage. We wanted to be able to enjoy the beach ourselves, and share the 'salt life' with others. We found the perfect condo at Beachdrifter, what we feel is an ideal beach location on a quiet stretch of beach and walking distance to the pier, Seawalk Pavilion for concerts, and plenty of restaurants and nightlife...We hope you will find what others have by renting from us, a wonderful getaway from hectic living, and keep coming back to make memories..Give us a try, you will not be sorry!! Sincerely, Lynn McWhirter-Neeson, Gail McWhirter, and Jim Neeson.
Why the Owner Chose Jacksonville Beach:
We know there are lots of condos from you to choose from but we feel our unit offers 950 square feet with a desirable floor plan. The bedrooms and baths are split so ideal for 2 couples or families. Each bedroom has its own balcony and bath. We take pride in ensuring your stay is memorable and enjoyable!
The Unique Benefits at this Condo:
Our end unit is located by the stairs if you want to exit quickly and just down the corridor from the elevator. The building is small (23 units) and has many owner occupants which maintains a homelike feel for the property. We replaced our central air conditioning unit Sept 2012, have updated our furnishings in LR and DR (2013) and have flat screens TV's in both bedrooms and LR. We have Wifi access and a nice reading library for you to enjoy.
