Apartment was in a good quiet location. My wife and I stayed in the bedroom and our daughter slept on the fold out couch, Both were very comfortable. Grocery store was right across the street. Easy access to the Royal mile and Princess Street by bus or by walking. We walked into town every day (~20 minutes). If this is to far a bus stop is ~1 block away. The Royal Mile was fantastic. We visited the Castle and Holyrood Palace and everything in between. Camera Obscura and the underground haunted tour were very good. We also managed to climb to the top of Arthur's seat and Nelson's Monument for fantastic views of the city and the Firth of Fourth. Train station is in the middle of town making it easy for short day trips. We also rented a car and drove to Glamis Castle and St Andrews. The drive back from St Andrews was right along the water (beautiful). Drivers beware!!! It was difficult driving on the opposite side of the road and the other side of the car. The roundabouts can be confusing even with a GPS. Once out of the city it was much easier. The only criticism I have is the apartment is on the third floor making it a little tougher to carry up your luggage. Overall I would highly recommend this apartment and this city for a vacation.
Owner response:Thank you for your great comments.I am glad you all enjoyed our place and location. I know it may be tough to carry the cases up but I think you would agree it is well worth it for the view. Gill

We really enjoyed our stay at Gill's apartment. She is a love! The location is great as it is in a private non touristy part of the city. The bus stop is very close as is a wonderful grocery store. We walked to town and used the bus with no problems. Down the way are some pubs and take away stores as well. We enjoyed our hike of Arthur's Seat which is a 15 minute walk away from the apartment. The apartment is very clean and cozy. Gill even left us with some Scottish treats and we loved that there was instant coffee and tea available! Very thoughtful. One of the neighbors told us if we needed anything, to give him a hollar. The apartment is very quiet and the bed was comfortable. You could stay right downtown where it is loud and expensive or you could stay here where the price is right and the city is easily accessible. The only thing that could make this apartment even more lovely than it was would be private internet service. Thank you Gill!
Owner response:Thank you for your fantastic review. I'm glad you loved so many things about my apartment , I do try very hard to make it as enjoyable as possible. We should have full internet by the end of the year. We have just had new flooring fitted and the rooms freshly painted, we try to upgrade every year Hope to see you again soon.. Many Thanks Gill

Gill was wonderfl about meeting us at the apartment even though we were a bit delayed. She filled us in on everything we needed to know about the apartment and gave us great directions for reaching the airport to return our rental car. The apartment is fantastic. It is clean, comfortable, quitet, and wonderfully well equipped. The closeness to the city - easy walk or convenient bus routes - made getting around simple. A terrific added benefit is the shopping center across the road with a lovely supermarket. Thanks again, Gill. It couldn't have been better. We loved our stay in Edinburgh. We couldn't ask for a better place to explore Edinburgh. It started with the owner settling us in and explaining how best to get around. We had a car but did not use it during the 5 days we wer there. We either walked, or used the great bus service. It was nice to come back to the flat and relax after a full day of siteseeing. The first day we took one of the tour buses and drove around Edinburgh. This gave us a good idea as to which sites we wanted to visit and spend more time. Since the flat contained all the amenities we tended to prepare our suppers in the flat and then enjoy the great view from the window while eating. The bed was very comfortable so we always arose refreshed to tackle another day of sites. Edinburgh is a wonderful city to visit. We definitely want to come back, and when we do we will try to book this property. We highly recommend this apartment.
Owner response:I am glad you had such a great stay in my apartment, Yes the view from the lounge towards the city and "Arthurs Seat" Is fabulous, you can sit at the window eat dinner and watch the world go by. The apartment is great with a free private parking bay,but still very easy to get around town walking or by bus of which many stop outside the flat. I strive to make your stay as enjoyable as possible with great customer service. I do hope you come back again as it would be great to see you in the future. Gill

Owner response:Thank you for you great review. Our location is excellent as you can get around the city easily but still get a good nights sleep as the area is quiet. We hope to see you again in the future Gill

Both Gill and her apartment lived up to the glowing reviews. Gill was wonderful in meeting us at the apartment with the key, giving us a tour and clear directions as to how to get to all of the places we wanted to go. It was a short & scenic walk to town, and my friend and I (both female) had no problems walking it at many different times of the day and night. The apartment was spacious, very clean, quiet, and the bed incredibly comfortable. I would recommend this without reservation, and I hope to return soon!
Owner response:Thank you Mary. I'm Glad the apartment lived up to your expectations. I aim to make Guests stay as comfortable as possible.I look forward to meeting you again soon Gill

My husband and I had a very delightful 3 night stay just recently. We had some issues on our arrival from Australia with my luggage being lost and had to provide an address for which to send the luggage when located. Gill was very willing to allow us to use this address for this. Also, due to the inflexibility in delivery times of this luggage, we were able to check in early to the apartment to hopefully be around for the delivery. Gill herself was away but her friend Liz was very accommodating actually arriving a little earlier to the apartment then arranged (we too were early) and quickly letting us in. She checked on us that evening and was just overall very helpful. The stay was great, the apartment in a perfect location - easy walk to Holyroodhouse Palace (and a nearby starbucks....we're coffee addicts) and an incredibly easy bus ride into Princes Street (also only a 15 minute walk which we also did). The shops across the road were marvelous. All in all a great stay, somewhere I would highly recommend. Thanks Gill and Liz!
Owner response:Thank you for your Kind comments Megan. I always try to help my guests as much as possible and be as accommodating as I can to make your stay as smooth as possible.I am so glad you liked our apartment and would HIGHLY RECOMMEND to others. Many Thanks Gill

My teenage daughter and I stayed in this apartment in July 2009 when we were in Edinburgh for The Gathering 2009. We truly felt as if we were "at home." The apartment is clean, well outfitted, and Gill was great to work with. Her friend Liz even came to the rescue when I left my purse in a taxi! She picked us up and took us to the police station to retrieve my purse which was completely intact with all $ present and accounted for! Our entire experience was amazing, and we will definitely return in the future! Thanks Gill, and thanks especially to Liz!!
Owner response:Thank you Debbie for your kind comments I look forward to meeting you on your next visit to Edinburgh.

Wonderful apartment in a great location! The view of Arthur’s Seat from the window is amazing and the apartment itself is lovely. Across the street is a grocery store and the kitchen is well stocked with cooking supplies. The walk to Old Town took about 20 minutes. The apartment is a great base to explore Edinburgh. I hope to be back soon.
Owner response:Thanks for the great comments Andi We also hope to see you again in the future. Gill

The owner is very welcoming and helpful. She provided many useful touring suggestions and maps. The apartment is very well furnished and we thoroughly enjoyed the walk into town via routes mapped out for us by Gill. Clean, roomy, well appointed--a very good place to stay.

This apartment is perfectly appointed for travelers. The kitchen is well stocked with enough appliances and amenities to cook in. The living room has a gorgeous dormer window with perfect views of Arthur's Seat. The bedroom is so pretty and big enough for two people to unpack their luggage and still have plenty of room. The bathroom is actually large - quite a departure from other European bathrooms I've stayed in. You can't improve the location - it's perfectly situated. Walk to the center of town in 30 minutes - and the walk itself is lovely. To have a grocery store across the street is pretty handy, too. I would stay there again - and hope to - when visiting Edinburgh.
Owner response:Thanks for the great review Karen. We agree the location is perfect and the view from the bay window is also our favourite, especially in the sun.
