A Little Piece of Heaven on Earth

My husband and I celebrated our 26th Wedding Anniversary at this wonderful place. We wanted some place not too far from home, as I have trouble travelling due to health issues. The cabin fit our needs perfectly. We wanted peace and quiet and a view . We got that +++ it was total serenoty. There is plaenty to do for those who want to be on the go, but it is also perfect for those who just want to totally relax. The Cabin was immaculate and very comfortable. The view was gorgeous. We could have slept 6 people comfortably, even though it was just us at night time. We did have 5 people over for the day on the actual day of our Anniversary and it was totally comfortable and roomy. The Owners of the property, we can not say enough about, they have been totally helpful ,receptive and prompt. They are as nice in person as they were to deal with in e-mails. No question is to big or small, or stupid to ask them.The personal touches throughout the cabin were beautiful, and upon arrival we were very touched to find the thoughtful gift of 2 roses w/2 balloons, fruit basket ,sparkling bottle of cider and a "Thought Bubble" tag that said "Happy Anniversary" The weather and sunsets could not have been more perfect. The helpful thing that we would recommend for evenings if you are staying in, you may want to bring board games, card games,books and or DVD's whatever interests you during down time, Another important thing for us that it is totally animal friendly. We can honestly say, that this adventure was so perfect we did not want to leave! :) We would recommend this to everyone, even families that have smaller children,the water starts off really shallow, then progresses for the older people. We feel Blessed to have connected with the perfect place and such amazing people (owners) to deal with.

Tranquil Retreat!

My husband, Jeff, and I, and our Cairn Terrier, Binsey, had one of the most enjoyable and relaxing vacations while at Cal's. We didn't realize how taut our nerves were until the second day of our stay when we simply felt ourselves just "let go" -- the cottage is quiet, the bird life is simply amazing (loons, osprey, heron, bald eagles) and paddling around the lake in the canoe Rose and Randy provided gave us even more opportunities to see those birds and just explore (and nothing beats watching the sun set from the seat of a canoe!). We found ourselves gravitating to the table by the window wall early mornings to see the world wake up while having a leisurely breakfast. There is a grocery store nearby so getting provisions was a cinch, as well as an organic farm market for veggies. It's also easy to get over to the coast for a fresh lobster roll. Our only regret was when we had to leave! We would recommend this cottage to anyone who wants to get away from the hustle bustle of life to relax and recharge. We look forward to staying here again! I wanted a vacation but couldn't go far from home. This was the perfect spot. The cabin was clean, fresh and meticulously supplied. The view from the breakfast nook was my favorite. So many gorgeous sunsets and the crane on the floating dock was real entertainment each evening when he perched there to dive bomb for his supper. I was able to have family drop in on several days of our stay as well as overnight guests. It provided beds for six. The owners, Rose and Randy, eagerly aimed to please and they surely did. They take great pride in their camp and it shows in every way. I would highly recommend this little spot of paradise to anyone. We hated to see our time there come to an end. We shall be returning. We are a family of 4 who stayed for a week. We found the cabin quite clean and comfortable, the view over the lake was lovely and the kayaking and swimming exhilarating. The yard was small but nicely appointed with a bench next to the flower border, a picnic table and an outdoor grill. We felt the cottage was conveniently located for trips to the ocean as well as to the mountains in the west. Our hosts really went out of their way to make us feel comfortable and tried to get sightseeing information in line with our interests. Nice place, nice people, well worth the money.

My oldest daughter and I decided to take a couple of the granddaughters on a road trip to a place we'd never been before. Maine was our destination and Cal's Hideaway was our 'home' away from home. It was a wonderful experience in every way. Rose and Randy are thoughtful, delightful and meticulous 'guardians' of their property. Not only is it immaculate and inviting on the inside, but the views out the windows are breathtaking. We had an absolutely perfect time there, and were impressed not only with the Pease family and the cabin, but the lovely folks of Maine in general and the folks of Monmouth in particular. We hope to make this trip again next year, and would not hesitate to recommend it to anyone who is looking for the perfect family getaway. We could have very comfortably slept six people although there were only four of us. Thank you Rose and Randy! It was perfect.
