This private family home is designed to make your vacation a give you m88ximum time to relax an enjoy your vacation and create memories for a lifetime! This is not a typical rental, but our second home. It has been recently completely remodeled and updated with a new kitchen, floors, and paint throughout (inside and out). It is located on Duck Lake peninsula near the Interlochen Arts Academy. It has 100 foot of private beach frontage, and a private dock for your toys.
Life on the peninsula is known to be very quiet, and has minimal auto traffic. It provides a 2 mile loop for "pedestrian traffic"--during which often becomes a social event! Duck Lake is approximately 2000 acres and has beautiful sandy shallows for (warm water) swimming, some nice weed beds (not near the swimming area!)for fishing bass, and some nice 90+ foot deep holes for trying to catch the big fish. It is also regularly stocked with fish by the Michigan Department of Natural Resources--for better sport fishing. It is an all sports lake that allows Jet skis, but due to our location of mostly private homes, boat traffic is low. Minimal boat and car traffic means RELAXING!
Play in the water, relax in the hammock or enclosed porch, watch the kids play on the swing, or in the separate sand box, take a walk to the association park to find the bigger swings or even play on the tennis court--are some of your vacation options. Kayaking, fishing, skiing, canoeing, are a couple more water options. In the evening, you can tell campfire stories as you enjoy the lakeside firepit. Roast some marshmallows, enjoy the stars!
Do all this and remember the next day you can choose to visit one of the area's 27 golf courses, or many wineries, 5 minutes from the Interlochen Center for the Arts, 25 minutes from the Sleeping Bear National Lakeshore recreation area, a 20 minute drive from Crystal Mountain ski resort, or tubing down Platt river to Lake Michigan, snowmobiling on some of Michigan's groomed trails, the list is endless! The location is perfect. It is just far enough out of Traverse City to forget about life, but close enough to participate in the festivals or Mall--if it rains!
Finally, the home has experienced a complete recent makeover. A new kitchen with lots of new appliances, ceramic and marble were added. Everything is light, user friendly, and open. It is very modern with a touch of rustic. Laundry facilities are present. The main house's 4 bedrooms, two living rooms, dining room and eating area are complemented by an extra attached Studio apartment. This is being thrown in for the 2009 season to provide our guest with a load of extra space to spread out--NO EXTRA CHARGE! It also gives you an extra fridge, kitchenette, and sleeping area. I listed this as a 5th bedroom, but it is much more and puts this place as one of the largest, most comfortable, and best deals in the area for a single family home.
