We spent a long holiday weekend enjoying the light and views in Cameron's home. The exchange was an easy process and Cameron was most accommodating. The house was equipped with everything one could possibly need for a weekend getaway.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

If you're looking for a relaxing weekend getaway, and have a relatively large group, then I would highly recommend renting this house! The location is ideal - it's private and secluded, but necessities aren't too far away. We had to run to the grocery store at one point, and it was only a 10-minute drive. Aside from that, we didn't leave the house - there was no need! We spent the weekend by the fireplace and taking advantage of the fully-equipped kitchen for large group meals. A lot of time was also spent exploring the house and admiring the unique decor. There was more than enough room for us to all spread out and read, play board games, nap, etc. A few of us even got in touch with our inner-child (we are a group of 24-32-yr-olds!) when we went sledding and built a snowman in the yard! Cameron, the owner, was wonderfully hospitable and very easy to work with in the rental process. I would not hesitate to keep this house in mind for future weekend getaways!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

Perfect escape to the Catskills

We split the mountaintop retreat between two families of 4, and could not have been happier. The location is remote, but superb- views of the Catskills off the deck with all the peace and quiet one would want. Likewise, the house itself is wonderful. Plenty of space, allowing the 4 children in our group plenty of places to roam. The kitchen is well stocked with everything, from pots and pans to blenders, bowls, plates and utensils (well, except for any kind of non-stick pan to make pancakes!). Everything was in perfect working order, clean tidy and well kept. We look forward to a return stay- maybe next time in the spring or summer to see the mountains with some green on them!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, pet owners, families with teenagers, girls getaway, sightseeing.

i rented this house with 10 friends from NYC and it was awesome! i have rented many houses in the catskills for a winter weekend away and most of them disappoint and aren't true to the description and photos. this one is! in fact, writing this makes me weary because i don't want too many to learn about this magical getaway. cameron, the owner, was awesome and attentive...responsive to emails and even us calling on the weekend to figure out how to find the football game on a sunday. there's plenty of space to sleep comfortably and large great room and open kitchen if you like to cook and chill by the fire with friends/family. about 20 mins from bellyaire skiing so easy for the crew of us that did that for the day. it's also secluded so we were really in the middle of the mountains (gorgeous sunsets from the deck) and not bothered by neighbors, etc. none of us wanted to leave. the house is super comfortable and emits an immediate 'i'm at home' feeling. and it was very clean. added bonus: a ton of artifacts and knick-knacks that lead to tons of interesting conversation topics! we all plan to return again soon!Did you find this review helpful? “The Catskill Vibe” This house, set in the Andes and Delhi area of the Catskills, is a very quiet, private, secluded retreat, with views of the rolling Catskill Mountains and hugged by luscious trees that sway in the evening breezes. This spacious “log cabin” style house is set on a bluff, with a large deck that invites you to look and relax, and relish solitude, away from any noise and confusion. A “spiritual” relaxation permeates the décor and ambience of the home. The loft ceiling of the living room gives the inside area a wonderful expanse. And the only thing that is more expansive than the living room is the generosity and responsiveness of its owner. In addition, because this house is also the residence of the owner, you will find the house much better equipped and completely furnished unlike some of the more sterile, “cookie-cutter” rentals in the Catskills area.. The kitchen is marvelous, dining area splendid, loft bedroom with a/c was extremely comfortable, top of the line WIFI, extra-ordinary large DVD collection and the working fireplace is absolutely splendid. If you want a true taste of historic Catskills, consider renting this “Mountaintop Log Home Retreat.”;Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

IT WAS AMAZING!!! The home far exceeded any expectations I might have had. The first thing that struck us (we got there at night so the view and the size of the place was masked in lamplight) was just how warm and personal the spaces were. We were impressed and grateful for all of the tiny amenities that were scattered about the house; too minute and special to include in any online-descriptions. If I'm not mistaken, there is a theme of "unity among faiths" which pervades the entire house: in the art, the decorations, and the figurines. I thought that was really cool, and a great way to show that all guest should feel welcome. Anyway, sorry for rambling, I just really really appreciated this and thought it was pretty stellar. When we woke up, we really saw the power of this home. The view, the downstairs deck, the workout stuff, the doghouse, the garage, the lawn, the adirondack chairs, the view, the VIEW, the lake (we went swimming; I'm a surfer myself; that was my first "small-lake" experience swimming!) and the trees. The books, the DVDs, the places to read scattered around the house, the fireplaces, the beams, the enormous amounts of "easter-eggs" in the cabinets in the kitchen, the instruments in the entrance room, the entire separate home downstairs!, the loft.... I am floored. I plan on staying here as often as possible.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/1

As you can guess from the title, this home was absolutely wonderful. The owner Cameron, could not have been more helpful. The home itself was very well maintained and very comfortable. I would definitely recommend this home to anyone looking to rent. There was a nice little surprise under the deck; a hammock and a bench swing. This further added to the relaxing and "get away from it all" feel that the home perfectly captures. The lake was also quite wonderful and anyone staying here should definitely stop in for a swim.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

Eight of us stayed here over MLK weekend and had a wonderful time. The cabin is beautiful, well-kept, and has a kitchen with everything you could want. Although it was colder than we had hoped, and so didn't get to get out and enjoy the surroundings, we had a great time staying in. Highly recommended!Recommended for: Pet owners, families with teenagers, families with young children.

There were five couples in the house for our stay over a long New Years weekend. We had such a blast. The house and the surroundings were gorgeous covered in beautiful white snow. The house fit 10 comfortably, the separate area downstairs was a nice feature. All the amenities you could want were there in the house. We skiied twice in the five days we were up there, there were two convenient mountains to ski at and coming back to the hottub was a treat. The peace and quiet that's hard to find in Long Island was in abundance on the property. It was a great way to bring in the New Year and would highly recommend the house to others.Recommended for: Age 55+, pet owners, girls getaway.

About the owner: As you can tell from the odds and ends, books and paintings, I am very spiritual. I am an Anglo Catholic and honor all faith traditions, particularly Buddhism, Native American shamanism, as well as Amazonian spiritual traditions, its Pajes and the medicines of the forest. My career has been devoted to the nonprofit sector in communications, fundraising and innovation. The past 15 years I have been a consulting working up and down the East Coast and in Brazil, so this home acts as a retreat and haven for me when not on assignment. I also recently founded Delicious Evolution, an food movement which is dedicated to raising consciousness around nature, culture, food, health and harmony.
Why the Owner Chose Andes:
I'm originally from an Iowa farm and spent a couple of family vacations in Northern Minnesota in a friend's old log cabin built by the CCC in the '30's and fell in love with the forest and log homes. I then carried the dream of having a home some day in the woods until I found this beautiful retreat and home. I walked in and new I was home. The owner, Charlie Simonson, an 85 year old man who had put his heart and soul in to building the home in 1988. He wanted to sell it to someone who would love it as much as he did and it was a spiritual transaction, I felt very blessed. I had been traveling and literally only had three boxes of personal items, and as he was moving in to a smaller house, he conveyed the home to me along with everything I needed to move and enjoy the home. In appreciation, as he was building a smaller retirement home, let him stay on in the house for six months and we event spent a Thanksgiving together at the house before he moved out prior to Christmas 2000.
The Unique Benefits at this Lodge:
Peace, quiet, trees, elevation, comfort, relaxation, green, silence, stars, sun, moon, and forest sounds and creatures.
