Beautiful Luberon Village House with Pool - Really Beautiful!

The house is right in the middle of one of the most famous villages in Provence - Roussillon. Famed for its oche cliffs and soil, it provides one of the most stunning backdrops to any rental house. While the house is only yards from cafes and restaurants, it offers total privacy and is beautifully quiet. There is free parking a hundred yards from the house and another car park just a few yards from the house which is perfect for dropping off.
The house is also a great place to stay in winter: log fires, beautiful walks in the winter sunshine, few tourists and so is very quiet and peaceful. A fabulous Christmas vacation idea!
The three terraces offer a mixture of direct sun and partial shade and there are tables and chairs for outside eating on all three. The pool (closed during winter) is four and a half by three metres with no shallow end, but there is a ledge to stand on one end and a ladder at the other end.
The village has several cafes and restaurants ranging from simple meals to some very good cooking indeed. Russell Crowe in fact had a party in one of them, Le Simonde, while filming 'A Good Year' a couple of years ago. Nearly all the restaurants have lovely views. There is a market in the village on Thursday mornings which has all the Provencal goodies you would expect!
The village also has a good supermarket, Casino, which has pretty much everything one might need. There is also a butcher and a lovely bakery.
Beyond the village there is the local town of Apt which has a fabulous market on Saturday mornings and there is a farmers' market in Coustellet on Sunday mornings. Other local villages worth visiting include Gordes, Bonnieux, Lacoste, Lourmarin and Menerbes. Further away to the east is Avignon, well worth a day trip and only 40 minutes away. To the north there is the mighty Mont Ventoux - one of the highest mountains in Provence, viewable from the village. The drive through Haut-Provence to get there is spectacular. To the south there is the Grand Luberon - well worth a day trip. Aix-en-Provence is the other side of the Luberon and should not be missed.

This house is perfect - and Clifford and Alice were so helpful. All directions, instructions, etc were written out and clear. We (my husband, daughter and 2 grandchildren ages 16 and 17 ½) spent a week in August here. The house must be one of the few in a village that has a pool. And no house across the street so we had a beautiful view of the ochre hills. The house has all the amenities we needed and was such a peaceful environment. We could spend our morning roaming around, then the afternoon in the pool and then go for dinner to some great restaurants. We could walk to a patisserie (every morning), a wine shop, a boucherie (great roast chicken and sides), and several bistros. The bistro across the street knew immediately where we were staying and would take our order and then insist on delivering it to our table in the house. One evening another bistro said they had little “to go” but once they found out where we were staying, they said we could order anything and just bring back the plates. Roussillon is situated so that we could go any direction and find small villages to roam.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, romantic getaway, age 55+.

We were a group of six that just returned from the most memorable, wonderful stay at this treasure of a house. The description of this place is spot on, Clifford and Alice have created a beautiful home and a treasure of a place to stay. They were seamless to work with from the original contact, the chance to connect by Skype before our arrival and the follow up call upon our arrival. Our original plan was to use the house as our base in Provence and make day trips to the many provincial towns we wanted to visit. The location is perfect as we traveled to Aix, Avignon and St. Remy, we loved the house and village so much we abandoned plans for further day trips and ended up spending those days around the village and enjoying everything about Roussillon and this house.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, romantic getaway, age 55+, girls getaway.

I can't say enough good things about this very centrally-located, charming village house in the middle of one of the most beautiful Provencal villages in all of France! We've been lucky enough to have stayed at this property several times over the years, and have enjoyed ourselves immensely each time. The house itself is large, well-decorated, right in the village center, and extemely charming. There are many great restaurants and bakeries, both steps away and a bit further afield, should you desire. The owners are delightful as well, and do everything they can to ensure that your holiday in Provence is perfect. We'll be returning again this year! Highly recommend!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, romantic getaway, age 55+.

3 generations of our family were lucky enough to stay in this dream house for a week in September. The location is perfect - right in the heart of breathtaking Roussillon. Our 10 & 12 year old girls could step out the front door to get a crepe across the street or walk down the road for a croissant. We enjoyed seven blissful evenings on the top terrace drinking wine and eating olives and cheese from village farmers markets. The pool was inviting and warm - the kids played in it every night. The property itself is gorgeous - spotlessly clean, charmingly decorated, with a kitchen that has anything you could possibly need to prepare a delicious meal. Mr Rosen kindly and quickly answered every email we sent, his advice and directions were spot on, and he was gracious enough to phone us on the evening of our arrival to make sure all was as we expected. I would whole-heartedly recommend this property to anyone who is looking to sample a taste of village life in Provence. The entire experience exceeded our expectations, and we will remember it as the trip of a lifetime.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with young children, adventure seekers.

Our stay--we were 5 adults-in the first week of May was delightful in all aspects. Weather was sunny and in the 70s F everyday. The house is wonderfully situated--just a few hundred feet from the gated residents' parking and the adjacent general parking area, where the Thursday market sets up. (The market is small enough not to be overwhelming and large enough to have ample choice.) Just another 100 feet or so away is the patisserie, for great breakfast croissants and a good selection of sandwiches for picnics. There's pizza right across the street and several restaurants are close by. Best of all is the house itself. The living room is large, with a wonderful fireplace for chilly evenings, the eat-in kitchen is comfortable, and the bedrooms are fine--especially the spacious master suite. The outside terraces make the house really special. We had lunch on the highest one, looking out over the village and the incredible ochre hills beyond. We had dinners on the more intimate lower terrace, just off the living room. The small pool--on yet another level--wasn't open in early May (we didn't need it), but its siting is amazing as well. And the owners could not have been more helpful, with almost instantaneous email and phone connections and a detailed guestbook with all kind of helpful information about the house and the region. Georgette and Loulou, as the owners' designated "go-to" locals, were terrific, ready to help with any question. Roussillon itself is magical--and especially inviting for those lucky enough to be able to stay right in the village. And don't miss the Ochre Walk: imagine a moonwalk with utterly fantastic shapes at every turn and colors ranging from light yellows to deep rose--as well as towering pines! Plus Roussillon is well situated, allowing access to almost any of the Petit Luberon perched villages in less than a half hour. We are definitely returning!!Did you find this review helpful? We had a wonderful week at the end of September/early October. The plan was to do some local walking, and the weather was perfect for it – not too hot, just warm and pleasant. Roussillon is a beautiful village, and the house has stunning views. It is very well equipped and beautifully furnished. We had the best of everything with the temperatures in that we breakfasted outdoors every morning, walked in brilliant sunshine during the day, with an evening routine of an aperitif at one of the local bars near La Mairie, followed by either a local meal out or supper sat in front of the big open wood fire – great for falling asleep in front of! The holiday was everything we wanted it to be in a super location. We will certainly return.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

We had a wonderful vacation in Roussillon that was made more enjoyable by our beautiful accomodations and the hospitality of the Rosens. The house was well-equipped with everything needed for making meals. Reserved parking 50 feet from the house was very convenient. We will stay here again the next time we visit Provence.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

My family and I would like to thank you for a fantastic holiday in your lovely home! The girls enjoyed the beautiful pool and swam virtually everyday. My husband and I enjoyed the gorgeous house, well stocked kitchen and numerous restful places to relax with a glass of wine and a book. We tried practically every restaurant in town and were never disappointed. The surrounding areas of Provence were wonderful to explore, but we could not wait to get home to your house most days. We took cooking classes, while our daughters had riding lessons. We loved the pizza place across the street and the fact that we could send our 8 year old out with a plate to fetch it. As I mentioned in the guest book, we were so thrilled with the decor of the house, we took pictures of every room and are trying to recreate it here in Virginia. Thank you again, everything was perfect and we hope to return very soon.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0
