This beautiful, hillside vacation villa is located in 'Pedregal,' an exclusive, secure gated community in Cabo San Lucas. Relax with a drink and your loved ones on the large rooftop patio while watching the sun set over the Pacific Ocean.
Our home is one of the best values in all of Cabo in terms of luxury experience for the price. While all of Pedregal is special, the location of our home offers the advantages of close proximity to town but is shielded from the sounds of the nightclubs when you are ready to sleep.
The home features 3 bedrooms, 3.5 baths, 3000 square feet of living space and 1800 square feet of outdoor terraces and yard. The second floor living area has ocean views. A full kitchen (completely remodeled in 2008) and BBQ give you the option to stay home for meals if you desire. For your dining variety, there are tables and chairs at all three outdoor patio areas.
The rooftop patio has a bar and expansive views of the ocean and neighboring areas of Pedregal. Separate levels of the home offer a private heated swimming pool and a secluded jacuzzi. One of the bedrooms and bath is detached from the main house in an adjacent 'casita.'
Nearby you will have access to miles of private beach, a children's play area, the new El Rincon Spa and the lighted Pedregal tennis courts. For superb shopping and night life, downtown Cabo is only 1 mile away.

As I am on the computer looking for a last minute holiday to Cabo I recalled I never reviewed my last stay at Villa Sonrisa. I would definitely be returning to this villa if it were not for my two teenage sons who have recently discovered all inclusives (more paticularily swim up pool bars). My wife and I attended a wedding in Cabo in January 2013 and instead of staying at the All inclusive where the resort was being held we opted for Villa Sonrisa and we were so glad we did. There was only my wife and I so needless to say we had a lot of room (I only opened the door to the Casita on the last day to see it). The pictures are very accurate and it makes for a beautiful and comfortable home base during your stay in Cabo. The views from the villa are beautiful especially from the roof top terrace. During our stay I did not notice many of the homes to have this comfort and we found it most enjoyable. Kathy was very easy to deal with and everything from the arrival at the airport (where we arranged a car with the help of Cathy, highly recommend) to the final day. Walking from the base of the hill to the villa is some serious cardio but we did it and enjoyed it everyday, you can also drive 3 minutes to the front gate park the car and be in the middle of all the action in Cabo. Simply, you can not go wrong booking this home very comfortable for everyone and a very nice home to entertain in. We had a wonderful stay in Villa Sonrisa. It was so clean and a great size for a family. The kitchen was beautiful and had everything needed. We were happily surprised with maid service throughout our stay. The neighborhood is gorgeous! We took lots of runs and walks and enjoyed looking at the houses. The location was convenient to Cabo and we felt very safe there. The pool in the villa was smaller than expected and very cold but the hot tub was great. Kathleen was a pleasure to work with and was very responsive and caring.Recommended for: Romantic getaway, families with teenagers.

I had an amazing stay at Villa Sonrisa. Before the stay, Kathy was very easy to work with and helpful. The house was very nice, especially the kitchen, which was recently redone. My group had three couples (one with a toddler), so the house worked perfectly for our needs. I was in the separate cabana house, which offered a bit of privacy and was just as comfortable as the rest of the house. I really enjoyed the rooftop as well--got up early every morning (thank you time difference!) to enjoy the beautiful sunrise on the roof. Satellite tv worked fine, as did the wifi. It was somewhat difficult to find the house when we first arrived, but one of the security guys was willing to lead us there and after that we had no trouble. The security guys were very friendly and gave us a sticker for the car that made coming and going very easy. The house is probably a mile from the heart of Cabo, but with all the hills in Pedregal, driving is likely a must. It was very easy to get in and out of Pedregal with a car and it was just a quick drive to anywhere in Cabo. The house is a 10 min walk from the beach (again a little hard to find the first time), which wasn't swimmable (only a few are in Cabo), but was beautiful and private. We never used the pool (freezing) or the hot tub (not sure if it had a heater, but we couldn't find it if it did so that was freezing too), but otherwise everything was great. I've rented through VRBO a few times now and this was the best experience I have had using it. We were only at the house for three nights before going to a resort and afterward we all agreed that we should have stayed at the house the entire week. Date of Stay: Jan 2011 (sorry for the late review)Recommended for: Families with young children, families with teenagers.

I loved how safe and exclusive the Pedregal community felt - especially with the gated entry and private beach. It was far enough from the downtown Cabo scene that we didn't hear the night time noise, but close enough to enjoy the restaurants and bars when we wanted. We had three couples stay in Villa Sonrisa and it still felt so spacious. The separate casita is very nice and I liked that we all had our own bathrooms. We stayed in to BBQ some nights (such a huge awesome kitchen) but also enjoyed Cabo's dining. Villa Sonrisa definitely had plenty of places to relax - between the outside pool (great for an afternoon dip) and the hot tub (perfect at the end of the day) and the comfy couches in the family room - it was 100% relaxing. The top deck offered gorgeous views and great tanning, too. I highly recommend Villa Sonrisa.Recommended for: Families with young children, age 55+, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, girls getaway, adventure seekers, sightseeing.

Thank you Kathleen for providing a wonderful and safe home for our family to visit. Our oldest celebrated his 13th bday in Cabo and loved having a little room all to himself! The pool was perfect for an afternoon of relaxing while I made dinner and the kids swam. Loved the kitchen and all the "homey" touches. Having the washer and dryer made life bearable and I was able to clean-up before we went home. We look forward to experiencing Cabo again next year-same place! Thanks again. We stayed at the Villa Sonrisa over the Christmas in December 2011. The house is a little bit cold on the lower level. The outdoor area where the jacuzzi is a bit damp and chilly in winter. We could not use the pool at all, it was freezing. The house is not suited for families with toddlers which we asked about prior to coming. There's a huge unsecured drop (6-8 feet) by the jacuzzi area where another property starts and Villa Sonrisa ends so you can't let the children roam around. There was a problem upstairs too. None of the screens to the outside had locks so our twins had no problem opening them and running straight towards the pool, upper deck, or towards the street (thankfully very quiet) where there was another issue with the front gate that did not close. The only time we could relax with the kids was either at the beach or when they napped downstairs with the patio door locked. The property has a nice kitchen and great views from the upper levels. It needs a bit updating in other areas but it was nice enough. Pedregal and its beach on the pacific side are beautiful. We had to take the car to get there with the kids and the beach stuff. If we were only with adults we could probably walk down there but it's a hike.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers.

We were a family group of seven adults and a two year and a half year old girl. Our one week vacation was fantastic, due to the livability of the Villa Sonrisa, and the activities available in Cabo San Lucas. The private Pedregal beach is beautiful, although swimming is not recommended due to the surf. Whale watching on the Sunderland sailing ship built in 1885 was great, and the yellowfin tuna caught far offshore provided food for two days. The kitchen and dining areas of the villa are excellent for a large group. We rented cars, something I would highly recommend. The Pedregal community is built on hillsides and the houses are architecturally amazing. We found the Villa Sonrisa to be as advertised, and of good value.Recommended for: Families with young children, age 55+, families with teenagers.

We stayed at Villa Sonrisa the last week in Nov'11 and we thoroughly enjoyed the property. The property is very nice and is well equipped. We cooked dinner three evenings and had everything we needed to prepare and serve a meal, make drinks/margaritas, and clean up. Villa Sonrisa was very comfortable. The pool is a little chilly this time of the year but following a dip in the pool with a dip in the hot tub was refreshing and relaxing. We brought our laptops and iPods and so the Wi-Fi and MP3 player w/iPod dock was invaluable and worked great. The Vonage phone was a big hit too as we were able to stay in touch with our families in the U.S. without additional costs. Villa Sonrisa has so many great amenities. The Cassita provides additional privacy, and the views, sunsets, and sunrises from the rooftop patio were awesome. The walk to the beach and downtown Cabo is some great exercise, especially walking back up the hills. The beach is not suitable for swimming but is still great for walks and basking in the sun. There are a few parking spots at the entrance to the beach. Note; The bright pink neon lights on the beach to the north are a private residence, and quite a hike.;)Recommended for: Families with young children, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, girls getaway, tourists without a car.

A group of 3 couples stayed at Villa Sonrisa for a long weekend in February. Overall, our stay was wonderful. The kitchen, outdoor and common areas are great for a group, and we had a wonderful time dining in and enjoying the outdoor amenities of the house. Although unadvertised, there is a wonderful beach within walking distance from the house - it is a great walk down (and then back up) to the house. The beach is not very swimmable, but it is quiet and beautiful. Also located nearby is the spa at the resort Capella. We strong encourage a day trip to the incredible resort. The experience is not to be missed. The restaurant and bar/lounge at Capella is wonderful as well. All in all a wonderful time! I recommend renting a car to see the sights in the area.Recommended for: Families with young children, age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway, tourists without a car, sightseeing.

About the owner: We (Richard & Kathy Bowles, and Jeff & Melinda Dieden) live in Lafayette, California where we enjoy the diversity, geography and weather of the San Francisco East Bay. We originally met at our children's school over 15 years ago, and now we travel, golf, attend Cal football games, and share other activities together.
Why the Owner Chose Pedregal:
After carefully exploring many areas and cities in Mexico, we decided that Cabo San Lucas was the best location for our vacation home. The private Pedregal gated community where our villa is located is the most scenic, safe and charming place in Cabo. We believe Cabo is the best overall vacation spot in Mexico for several reasons: the flights to Cabo from the US and Canada are relatively short (2 hours from LA, 3 hours from SF, 4 1/2 hours from Chicago, etc.), Cabo is clean and safe with a low crime rate, the weather is fantastic for most of the year, there are many outdoor activities to enjoy (great beaches, boating, sportfishing, golf, scuba and snorkel diving, off-road motorbike and AWD riding, and many more), the food is excellent and diverse, etc.
The Unique Benefits at this House:
Our villa has over 1800 sq. feet of outdoor space on 3 different levels, offering both sun and shade and lots of chaise lounges, tables and chairs. It is one of the few Pedregal villas with a rooftop patio, which offers many different views, including the ocean. We also have lower patios surrounding our heated pool on one level and the jacuzzi on the bedroom level.
We completed a kitchen remodel in 2008 with all new stainless steel appliances, wooden cabinetry and granite countertops. Villa Sonrisa is one of the best bargains in Pedregal, as there is ample sleeping and living space for the 3 bedrooms. Many guests comment that they appreciate the excellent location of Villa Sonrisa - just a few minutes from the town of Cabo, but shielded from the late-night noise of the nightclubs and bars. We know you will enjoy our home as much as we do.
