The Retreat is a luxury property created to be a sabbatical away from the world as we know it. It is a gated 2.4 acre community straddling its own mountain with a main lodge, and 3 guest thatched little stone houses...each with its own personality. These stone houses host double beds with fine linens of pure cotton. Artistically created baths blend with the supreme nature of the land, with stucco walls surrounding them and beautiful flowering vines hanging overhead. It is an enchanted place.. perfect for writers, photographers, artists, thinkers.
Each little stone house has its own private patio with a cane gate, hammock, table and chairs...water and electricity.
The individual thatched villas, are a short walk to the main lodge that hosts a full kitchen, fireplace, salon, multiple verandas and hammocks.
The views from the property are...spectacular. The extreme beauty of this Mayan world, of this sacred lake, of the powerful and famous volcanoes...surround you and embrace you daily, as you view the active volcanoes in Antigua from your own veranda.
We host weekly clients from around the world, who come for silence, in RETREAT, to reflect, and excavate whatever jewels they hold within themselves. It is a very special place, as you can see at website listed below. We also offer nightly weekend " getaways" as a unqiue " bed and breakfast".
All this, yet we are only a 5 minute walk from our gated entrance to the authentic village below which offers taxis to nearby villages, restaurants, and public boat docks.. and interent access.
A full time gardener lives on the property, he is also the caretaker, the handyman and gatekeeper. He is the caretaker of the adopted 3 village dogs of the Retreat, as we also have built a spaying clinic adjoining this property to help with our over-population of dogs. So far, we have spayed 400 dogs over the last 4 years. So our own wonderful adopted "girls" live happily with us.
Maria, is the daily maid, and she takes care of the houses, and maintains the kitchens, and carries a dignity that is beyond words. Her pride and love of the houses is witnessed in her daily routine.
We offer this unique property to those whose desire is to spend a piece of time, with respect, away from the outside world. Individual thatched villas are available weekly.
