  To start off, booking the stay was easy and pleasant. I booked directly with the owner and she was friendly and helpful. My wife and I have 4 children ranging from age 6 to 13. The condo easily accommodated all 6 of us, as there is a king bed in the master, a king bed in the 2nd bedroom (can be made into two twins), plus a generous sofa-bed in the family/living room. The pictures on the site are accurate, but you will need to stand on the balcony in person to truly appreciate the beauty of the harbor, the tranquil sounds of the lapping waves on the beach and the smell of the ocean. I could even see whales spouting in the distance. The hammock on the balcony was my favorite spot. Although there are whale watching boats which regularly depart from the harbor, I was surprised to find that they made very little noise, and were in fact a pretty sight to see. The kitchen is well stocked with utensils, plates, pots, pans, etc, which really helped, as we were on a budget and saved money by cooking many of our own meals. We were also pleased to find a nice assortment of beach gear, including snorkeling gear and boogie boards, stocked within the closets and underneath the beds. There are a dozen or so small local shops, stores and eateries nearby, within a 5 to 10 minute walk from the condo. My family and I did not visit any of these, as we had a rental car and drove around the island for sightseeing and to sample the various beaches on the west side of the island. We did visit two small beaches near the condo, both within easy walking distance, and found them to be pleasant enough, but we are very particular with the type of beaches we like (not too steep, lots of sand protruding into the ocean before any drop off, minimum of rocks, minimum of driftwood, long wide open areas, etc.) and found our preferred beach at Kalama Beach Park, which is 8 miles south of the condo. My family and I are also fans of fresh tropical fruit. After doing some research, we found a fruit stand which sells the best mangoes in Maui, and possibly Hawaii, called Yee's Orchard and Fruit stand, which is also about 8 miles away. Incidentally, the best shaved ice on Maui is sold by Ulu Lanis, a branch of which is also located around 8 miles from the condo. Overall, this location matched our needs perfectly, and I am glad we picked this location, among the many choices out there.

  Vacationed with 4 adults ages 40-68 and I was in charge of arrangements... Stress Free Booking could not be easier! Email the owner, Cynthia, she’ll work out the deposit, final payment etc... You’ll get instructions in the mail so that when you land on Maui, you know exactly where to go and how to get there. You do not have to meet someone for keys, which is a big plus! I’ve rented places before where you have to meet a person to get keys and it's a stressful situation when you're traveling. Upon arrival, you’ll park in your allocated spot (it’s in your papers), the building is very well maintained and the condo itself is super clean (pictures are right on with what you can expect) open the lanai door and an amazing breeze and spectacular views officially welcome you to Maui and your home away from home! Our party of 4 adults found the condo spacious, 2 bathrooms are wonderful, bedrooms are far away from each other & the layout allows for the perfect balance between togetherness and privacy. Also, since this is a corner condo, no one walks past your place…ever! It also overlooks the Tradewinds grocery store/deli (awesome sandwiches & local produce) so you can just look down to see if they are open. Throughout our stay we had access to beach chairs, beach umbrellas, roll mats, sun hats, flippers, snorkels, masks, coolers, winter clothes for sunrise at Haleakala (you will need these). Just lots of stuff we ended up using and didn’t have to buy. The place is also loaded with books and games, some movies etc… look under both beds for all the stuff! Kitchen has everything you need. There is a pool with bbq area and a mini beach right in front of the condo and in our down time, it was nice to stroll along the shoreline. Being right next to the Maalaea Harbor was much quieter than we expected (unlike Lahaina Harbor) and very convenient for our cruise activities – no designated driver needed as we could just walk home! Going anywhere else was just as easy as we found this location to be perfect! Big shopping (WalMart) is just a short drive away and a great place to stock the fridge. In my opinion, renting s private condo is the best way to vacation. The pride in ownership shows in every detail, the pages in the guest book are filled with past vacationers tips and fun moments...a hotel just doesn’t compare. I will always check this place first for all future trips to Maui. If you’re considering a condo and this place is available, do not hesitate!

  Owner response: I'm so glad your vacation was fabulous! I do all I can to make sure our guests are happy and stress-free. When we are at the condo, a couple of times during the year, we spend part of the vacation making little improvements to enhance our visitors' experience. Sometimes the improvements are big! We just put in a new refrigerator and added a light, with dimmer switch, to the lanai. We love how that makes a whole new room after dark for dinner or playing table games.   This condo was perfect for the 4 of us, me, my husband and our 2 grown children. It is well equipped with everything we needed. It is clean and well maintained and the owner Cynthia is the best. The packet of information she sent gave us all the information we needed and she even called when we arrived to ensure everything was as expected. It was centrally located so nothing was to far away, and several things (shopping, restaurants, snorkeling) are within walking distance. The little store right next door has everything you could need and the prices are very reasonable. The condo is located right next to Maaalea Harbor so if you sleep with the master bedroom window open as we did you will be woken up pretty early. It was not a problem for us but if you plan to sleep in, you will need to close the window. The beds are very comfortable, in fact we slept better there than we do at home. There is no air conditioning but we really didn't need it. The weather is perfect and there are nice breezes coming off the ocean. It does tend to get windy but that just helps to keep it cool and the way the condo sits, you can sit on the lanai and hear and see the wind but you don't get blasted by it The views are amazing and you can sit on the lanai and look out over the ocean for hours. I highly recommend the Aqua Adventure boat for snorkeling. It is a small boat and only takes 35 people out to Molokini so you get personal service and the crew is very nice. I also recommend Piilholo Ranch Zip line. The crew there was amazing and it is clear that they love their jobs. I can't wait to go back to Maui. They bring a coolness when it could otherwise be stuffy and are not a bother in the condo since the lanai faces opposite from the prevailing wind. All parts of the island can be windy, but since Maalaea has that reputation, people don't realize that you can have strong winds in most areas of Maui. We certainly have our share of calm days, too.   The listing was as described and the photos accurate. The decor was lovely, comfortable, clean and well-maintained. The owner was very helpful and called the day after arrival to make sure all was well. The condo had an unobstructed view of the water and harbor with a front row lanai seat for whale watching and boat activity. It was within walking distance to a world class aquarium, nice restaurants and shops and an easy 10 minute drive to Kahului to the airport with lots more restaurants and shopping. We went to Maui for the weather, a restful vacation and for me, personally, watercolor lessons with Kathleen Alexander whose luminous and exquisite work has been published in many magazines and represented in several Maui and mainland galleries. We would most certainly recommend this property rental to anyone.

  We just loved our stay here. The lanai was so large and the view was awesome. We enjoyed watching the whales every day. That was great! It's a good location for sightseeing the whole island as it is so centrally located. Would love to come back someday. Thanks so much.

  Great location with spectacular views and lots of whales! Being by the harbor can be a bit noisy in the mornings but you can also watch fish boats unload which is pretty neat! The condo has alot of extras for the beach. The beds are comfortable. The owner was a delight to deal with. Great place, great stay. Thanks Cynthia!

  My mum, sister and I spent 10 wonderful days together here. It was amazing. It seemed the whales gave us a personal show which we viewed from the lanai everday. The lanai is the highlight of this unit. We never ate a meal inside. Who needed to go out to a fancy beachside restaurant, we ate beachside every night. It was fabulous. I stayed an additional two weeks afterwards when my hubby joined me. We too had an amazing time. We all can't wait to go back. Thanks Cynthia and Jim for sharing your little piece of heaven with us.

  We thoroughly enjoyed our stay! What a fabulous view! We sat and watched whales and boats for hours. Other wonderful activities included the drive to Hana with a few hikes along the way. The Pipiwai Trail to Waimokuu Falls through the bamboo forest was beautiful. We drove up Haleakala and checked out the clouds with a stop at Surfing Goat Dairy.Went to the art show and shopped in Lahina. Hiked the beach and boardwalk trail through the wildlife sanctuary right by the condo. Had some passionfruit gelato in Pa’ia at OnoGelato. Yum! Walked to Beach Bums for dinner a couple times. Spent a day at Po’olennalenna Beach and two days at Polo Beach (lots of parking even at Christmas). Took a trek to Nakalee Blowhole during high surf warnings! Wow! We sure didn’t miss the blizzard going on at home in Boston! Thanks for sharing your little piece of paradise with us!
