Look at sparkling sunrises over Haleakala, at over 10,000 feet. Feel the privacy of watching the quiet boat traffic going on excursions, fishing trips and whale watching while you are unobserved at breakfast on you third floor lanai. Watch the sun play off the islands of Molokini and Kahoolave and the West Maui Mountain through the day till the moon sparkles off the waters in front of you in the evening and the south shoreline of Kehei, Wailea and Makena twinkles with lights.
This is a magical place that we call a second home is in a quiet 4 floor condo building. You will find it furnished with kitchen amenities, books (including many Maui guides), beach gear - all the things you'd want for staying weeks at a time in this enchanting location. As it is centrally located on the island, you are 15 minutes from the airport and the large grocery stores of Kahului and Kehei. (There is a well stocked convenience grocery in the next building.) You are well situated for daily excursions to the South Shore, Lahaina, the road to Hana or Upcountry. We enjoy the convenience of a mini-market downstairs in the adjacent condo building, an award winning seafood restaurant nearby in the other direction and a five minute walk over to Harbor Village for more restaurants and snack food venues. We get delicious and affordable meals at the Maalaea Grill, bring home take-out from Mexican Fiesta, try blended smoothies at the juice bar and enjoy the harbor scene during a meal at the new harbor side Beach Bums Bar and Grill - and that's not all our choices for food!
Besides the shops with a variety of clothing, souvenirs and sundries (including a branch of Maui Dive Shop where you can rent snorkel equipment), the Harbor Village is home to The Ocean Center, a world class aquarium. Nearby you also have a miniature golf course and the convenience of a gas station. At the end of the short street on which the condo is located, you'll find a beach park that is the beginning of three miles of beach reserve, where we enjoy sunrise strolls, beach combing and bird watching.
We think you'll find our home-away-from-home relaxing and inviting and you'll enjoy the quality we added. You'll want to spend days there on the lanai, enjoying the birds in the monkey pod tree or palm trees just off the lanai and the boats sailing in and out of the small harbor. Or the solar heated pool will entice you with its view right off to the spectacular tropical ocean. When you want to call home and connect with your family or friends, long distance is free to all USA States and Canada. And when you are ready to venture out, you'll see that this is a great choice for a home base on your vacation in Paradise.

Why the Owner Chose Maalaea
We love the sense of paradise we get when we are at our condo. Maalaea is away from the hustle and bustle of very touristy areas, yet just steps away from the romantic peacefulness of our palm trees and ocean splendor there are a variety of restaurants, shops and even a small grocery store. When we were looking to buy a condo we had stayed both in the south and the west on other trips to Maui. When we saw the island feel of this little corner of Maui and a whale breached right before our eyes a few minutes after entering this condo, we were more than charmed. We were convinced this was perfect for a tropical island dream.
The Unique Benefits at this Condominium
One of the things we enjoy so much is the fact of our corner condo having an extra large lanai that wraps around and gives us such a sense of openness. It feels very private being on the third floor with trees near us and the water of the Bay so close we could throw a coconut into it! The walls of window in the condo have floor to ceiling curtains that give a spacious feeling, not the narrow-box closeness of some condos. Besides these pleasures of the condo itself, we enjoy walking over to Harbor Village for the restaurants, some shopping, or to book a cruise or a whale watch. The Maui Ocean Center there is a world class aquarium, so we get at least a week membership. Having a gas station less than a minute drive away and miles of beach (a Nature Reserve that won't be built up) stretching the other direction are part of the benefits of our location.

Walk or jog along 5 miles of beach. Watch the birds of Kealia Nature Reserve or the whales (in season Dec - April). Kayaking, outrigger canoeing and wind surfing are all possible here.

We are Jim and Cynthia, from Reno, Nevada. Jim is a University Professor and Cynthia a retired first grade teacher. This picture shows us doing a favorite hike on Maui where we love all the opportunity for diverse outdoor activities. We get to be in our condo several times a year which allows us to make improvements on a regular basis (and, of course, have a Great Vacation!). We have a good property manager whose office is near the condo to take care of cleaning and upkeep on a regular basis. Maui is our favorite of the islands for its beaches, snorkeling, arts community and fabulous scenery. We love to travel and hope you enjoy one of our favorite places for a vacation.
