Best Vacation Ever
Best Vacation Ever
We stayed 10/19/13 to 10/26/13 The cabin was everything we hoped for & then some. Ate lobster every night at the cabin. Everything was there that we needed. Great location. Scenery was beautiful to the lake & trees. Easy access to Portland, Freeport & Boothbay. They were all just a short distance away. Would love to do this again next year for 2 weeks. Hope Ken will have us

We had two weeks of perfect weather, good swimming and boating. There are two similar camps at this area; the one we stayed in had no whirlpool tub. The cabin was clean inside. It was apparently caterpillar season in the trees overhanging the deck, so we had to clean the "poop deck" anytime we wanted to sit/eat on the deck overlooking the water. [Fortunately we had only one rain shower while there; the wet droppings do not easily remove from the deck chair cushions] The cabin was well equipped, although the kitchen items were rather randomly located - a bit of searching and reorganizing solved this. The approach to the lake is VERY steep - not good for anyone who cannot go up/down steep inclines with roots, rocks, etc. Also not good for young children - the swimming area is also not good for young children or anyone who is a non- or beginning- swimmer. There is a public swimming area about 5-10 driving minutes from the cabin that is very gradual and sandy.

Owner response: David, Thanks for the nice review of our cottage. we do keep the cottage and deck as clean as possible but it is has been rather challenging with the large oaks overhang the deck. They do provide shade in the summer but it also increase the amount of caterpillars and debris falling from the trees. We have decided to remove the offending trees to give our renters a more peaceful experience. We have keep the approach to the waterfront natural since there are "lady slipper" orchards on the trail but we are installing a few stairs to make the walk to the dock easier. I hope to see you in the future! Ken & Becca
the cabin was so beautiful and secluded; it had all the amendities. We loved it! We are planning to go again in a couple of years and I would recommend it to family and friends. The nearest town wasn't too far and whale watching trips (Boothbay Harbor) were 30 minutes away; which living in a big city, wasn't a big deal for us. There were several things to do within 10-15 minutes of the cabin. We just love nature and it had it all!.

Owner response: We are happy you enjoyed your stay at Biscay Lake. It is a very special private location that most folks really love and enjoy returning from year to year. The lakefront is great for kayaking and the water quality is terrific for swimming or fishing. We do like to have or guest explore the area since it does offer nice hiking trails and ocean beaches nearby. Please let us know when your coming back and we will arrange for a lobster dinner to be sent to the cottage. warmest regards,
