Todos Santos house description

A Storybook Style Estate

Let yourself relax in a palace on the beach. It is the hundreds of small details that makes this artist’s home so unique and interesting. Wherever you look there is a sensuous curve in a relaxing fleshy hue. Located just two hundred yards from the Pacific, ocean views stretch out in three directions and sunset beach walks are just a minute away. Casa Nova will accommodate six to ten people with its two bedrooms and large bunkhouse.

The great room hosts ocean views out every window and a fully furnished gourmet kitchen. This extra large space is designed for group activity. Granite countertops and a six burner commercial range make preparing a big dinner of fresh local fish and salad from the local market an easy enjoyable event. The island counter carved from local eucalyptus wood is perfect for sushi parties and socializing while many hands do the work. The kitchen stretches on to an extravagantly large mahogany dining room table (seats 12). At night a magnificent blown glass chandelier casts an even glow about the room. Two soft sofas lead to a massive stone fireplace in the corner. Firewood is provided for a small fire to warm the body, spirit, and conversation.

Master Suite
You will instantly feel like royalty as you enter the master suite. The master bedroom is spacious with plenty of room for spreading out. The ocean is visible in three directions from the king sized bed. This room features a walk-in closet, bathroom, and a masterfully built vaulted brick dome ceiling. Sliding glass pocket doors lead to a private sunset balcony over looking the vast Pacific Ocean. These features make this room a wonder to stay in.

Guest Room
From the Queen sized bed one can view the ocean through two arched windows. Opening onto the upper terrace the room is truly an out door, indoor space. Morning sunrises in this room are colorfully luscious and sunsets are beautiful too. With its sage green crown molding and Navajo style inlay design, it gives off a southwestern feel.

Bunk House
This building stands alone resembling a hobbit’s house with its double arched doors and canted walls. Twelve equal sides create a virtually round space 25 ft across. Ample windows splash light across the building’s one large room. Benches surround the room on eight sides. They are excellent for stashing your personal belongings out of the way during your stay. On three sides are counters one containing a sink. This room contains two queen-sized beds. It is an excellent space for kids. Surfboards can be slid into the rafters to keep them out of the light and harms way. Anyone given this space will be comfortable and content.

Bath House
Immerse yourself in our luxurious bathhouse. This building was designed with opulence in mind, helping you linger, taking care of all your personal needs. Modern lines are complemented with age-old flagstones. Fragrant Jasmine springs from between the stones to cover the trellis with its love-inducing aroma. The walls are polished smooth and sensual. Like a Roman bath, this building with its enclosed trellised courtyard accommodates many people at one time. With ample benches, counters and hooks, all will have room to spread out their personal belongings and stay awhile. In one corner of this grand high walled courtyard the sauna is found at the top of a short stair. Passing through a charming arched door you will find yourself in a clean, compact, yet spacious sauna room. The wood stove that heats the sauna is stoked from outside the sauna room but within the privacy of the courtyard. You will find plenty of wood stacked in the bin for your use.

We had a great time while at Casa Nova in Todos Santos. The house was well equipped and comfortable. It was only a short walk to the ocean and there are ocean views from the upper deck. We had only 2 disappointments regarding our stay. First, the layout of the house is unusual. The bedrooms are separate entrances from the main living area and if you were asleep in the 2nd bedroom and needed to use the bathroom in the middle of the night, you needed to go outside and down the stairs into the main living area or to the bath house to use the facilities. Second, there is a lot of street noise from ATV's going to the beach late in the evening. Other than those 2 concerns, we had an awesome time! We enjoyed playing cards on the upper deck, lying in the hammock, and fishing on the beach. And, the house was a welcome atmosphere at the end of a long day.

Owner response: Yes, both bedrooms are on the top floor via a hallway from the patio, please view photos. I observed this configuration in many Todo homes I toured. Also, speed bumps have been installed on the road outside the casa.

There were 4 of us staying at the house for a week (too short, went by so quickly!) The house is gorgeous, and throughout the week, we kept discovering all of the thoughtful little touches that made us feel so at home. There is an indescribable peacefulness in the air, a direct antidote to a hectic holiday season. Amazing views (especially from the rooftop deck). The house was immaculately clean, well-maintained. The main room was fantastic. One breezy, open space with a well-appointed kitchen, windows and doors that can be opened wide for lovely cross-ventilation. We didn't know that there would be Netflix, but it turned out to be a nice amenity to have. Heriberto, the onsite contact/property manager was a sweetheart, and given that one of his parents is Canadian, speaks English with no discernible accent, which was nice for the non-Spanish speakers in our group. This house is so special, I almost hate to publish my great review for fear of it becoming "discovered."

We made our first of what will probably be many trips to Todos Santos and spent the vacation at Casa Nova. We really enjoyed the home and the location. We have seven people in our party and spent hours in the spacious kitchen and on the porch that wraps around the house. Those of us addicted to our technology appreciated the WiFi. During our first night we were a little thrown off by needing to go outdoors and then go upstairs to get to the master bedroom, but after one night it seemed normal. The bathrooms were well equipped and there was plenty of hot water (although we learned to be patient waiting for the water to warm up for the first shower of the morning). The bunk house is a bit rustic, but comfortable and it provides three additional beds. We liked the sauna. The grounds are well landscaped. The location was great. It's short walk to the beach and there were tons of hummingbirds along the walk. It's a short drive to town (don't plan on trying to walk) so we had plenty of chances to explore the many great restaurants in town. There are several small mercados nearby so you can easily shop for a few groceries, beer and wine. There was also a fruit stand selling an amazing variety of organic produce. We bought three bags of oranges and used the juicer in the house to make fresh OJ for breakfast.

Owner response: Randy and Jude, glad you had a wonderful time at Casa Nova! We appreciate all the comments. Hope to see you again soon!!

What a wonderful time we had at Casa Nova over our Thanksgiving holiday. We met our daughter and her husband who drove down the coast of Baja on a month long surfing adventure. His parents also flew down. The house is very beautiful and inviting with plenty of room to spread out. The upstairs bedrooms are quite comfortable, as was the cabana. But most amazing of all was the bathhouse. Showering under jasmine blossoms was heavenly! Every day brought new adventures. We visited the beaches of Los Cerritos, Las Palmas, Punta Lobos (the fisherman's beach where we purchased fresh fish for Thanksgiving dinner) and took a day trip to La Paz and Espiritu Santo. The weather, pleasant and balmy, was a welcome respite from our cold northern CA prewinter temperatures. Thank you for sharing your house with us. We hope to return and are already planning our trip for next year!

Casa Nova was very clean upon our arrival, even all the grounds were meticulously swept. House is very nicely built and has many curves and architectural features. Roof top deck is huge, master bedroom vaulted brick ceiling is beautiful and has accent lighting. There is a nice deck off the master. The caretaker met us in Todos Santos and showed us to the house which was necessary as it is a little hard to find. Downsides are that the beach is too dangerous to swim at, and with no pool it means you have to drive to Los Cerritos to swim which is some distance. Todos Santos is a cute little town with a touristy edge. Some nice inns and hotels with a few wine bars and expensive non-mexican restaurants. It also has some good authentice mexican food. Second bedroom and outside casita are nice but don't have bathrooms so they use either the downstairs bathroom or the outside bathhouse for showers. Both are quite nice. I would recommend this for older family who wants to stay at the house and cook as the kitchen is excellent with good gas stove. If you are into swimming or partying its a bit out of town.

Beautiful get-away close to town. My favorite moment was coffee time on the beach early in the morning watching the waves crash on the shore. Favorite beaches were Playa Cerritos and Las Palmas, tucked away between two mountains. Took a day trip to La Paz to swim with the sea lions and Cabo to Lover's Beach and festive entertainment at the Mango Deck. Very enjoyable trip!

Casa Nova provided a wonderful setting for our Honeymoon/surf getaway! Although it could easily accommodate up to 8 or more people my new husband and I were very pleased to call this unique and artistic dwelling our home for 3 nights. The architecture is creative and reminded me of the Spanish architect Antoni Gaudi. Everything flowed and you feel as though thought and love were put into the design. Although there is no AC the doors and windows help create a natural air flow and the house stays quite cool. The bath house is an awesome touch. You can take a semi outdoor shower with vines and flowers making it very garden like. Be careful to check sinks and toilets for small creatures. Due to the indoor/outdoor setting it was not uncommon to find lizards hanging out. They are not dangerous just a bit surprising. Every amenity you could have desired from cooking utensils, beach chairs, umbrellas, hammocks, net flicks, fans etc. were readily available saving time and money for travelers. The beach was within a two minute walk from the house. Our property manager was an amazing host offering suggestions for local restaurants, beach breaks and was very responsive via email whenever we had a question. (Two thumbs up for Heriberto!) The ONLY downside was the construction taking place across the road that took place from 8am until 7pm daily. This is a very secluded location and you could hear the sawing across the road during the day. Although annoying this would not detour me from staying there again in a heartbeat. Truly a wonderful experience and we look forward to returning to this beautiful rental again in the future. Hooray Casa Nova!

Wow! This place was amazing. We had a group of 8 people, 3 couples and 2 singles. The house was comfortable in spite of our large group. The kitchen is well stocked, bathhouse is awesome, beds are comfy, and the location is amazing. Close enough to Todos Santos for convenient shopping and eating, but far enough for privacy. The house is a short walk from a beach that feels private (we never ran into anyone else there). Definitely need a rental car. We had a week long trip and visited some incredible beaches (Punta Las Palmas, San Pedrito) and got 2 kilos of the most delicious fresh caught Mahi Mahi for 120 pesos at Punta Lobos. The highlight of the trip (though it's hard to pick just one) was a snorkeling day trip we took on Isla Espiritu Santo, near La Paz (580 pesos a person for a 5 hour boat tour including lunch and snorkeling equipment). The house is about 25 minutes from Los Cerritos, a beach break good for surfers of all levels. Most of our week there the waves were steep, overhead, and fast breaking. Rentals of decent selection of boards is available right on the beach for $20 US a day, but the lady will cut you a deal for a multi-day rental. We'll be back!!!

This home was very nice and showed as discribed. It was well located with a 3 to 5 minute walk to the beach. I would stay there again. One important thing to check on is the status of construction on a home being built 20 feet from the property boundry line. There is very little construction going on in the area due to the economy but this is going on next door. Every week day morning at 7 AM sharp 10 to 12 construction workers showed up and started grinding and pounding away. We were not told about that when we rented the property so if you are going to be there in the next 3 months, I would check on the status of this construction.

Owner response: Thank you for your 4 Star Review !! Due to the nature of the current economy it is impossible for us to predict any construction in the area.

I had found Casa Nova, and thought it looked too good to be true! I sent in an inquiry, which was immediately responded to, and the planning of my girl's trip was underway! Upon arrival, my friends and I were blown away by the beauty and care that went into creating Casa Nova. We spent a wonderful 7 nights there, and it was extremely comfortable, spacious, and relaxing! The kitchen was wonderful, and we enjoyed many delicious meals on the deck. The property is very clean and well-kept. Additionally, the local property manager, Heriberto, is incredibly helpful and responsive. Each day we went into town, as well as spent a few days at nearby swimming beaches, Playa Las Palmas, and Playa Cerritos. You definitely will want a car if you're staying there. We also took a day trip to La Paz where we did a kayaking trip to beautiful desert island Espiritu Santo. I highly recommend it. Thank you for a wonderful stay at Casa Nova! I'd love to go back in the near future. It is a home away from home :)
