Our kids/grandkids from Michigan and us from Florida couldn't have found a better retreat to call home for a week. Your home was wonderful, scenery breathtaking and the welcome basket such a thoughtful touch. We tubed in Helen, visited Ana Ruby Falls, rented a pontoon boat on Lake Chatuge and enjoyed lazing the day away in the creek. Thank you for helping to make special memories for our family. Hope to visit again when the beautiful mountains are ablaze in color.

This cabin is gorgeous and it fit the entire family!!! Parents, kids and grandkids. We stayed a week, which went by so fast. We enjoyed whitewater rafting (4yrs old and up), tubing in Helen (includes a water slide), Hayesville festival, sliding rock, Looking glass falls and many parks nearby. All the amenities included! We grilled burgers on the outdoor grill and had breakfast at the table on the deck over looking stream down below. Fire pit next to stream for smore's and nightime relaxation. The grandkids all enjoyed the trip and even made friends with the two neighbor dogs. The game room was an extra bonus. The kids could stay up late playing pool, checkers or to watch some tv without disturbing others. Lake Chatuge is around the corner and very scenic with mountains in the background- boys got up early to catch some fish. Then you have the nantahala national forest five minutes down the road with beautiful scenic pull overs. The only thing I think we could have done better was stay longer! The last day we were still finding beautiful fun things to do. Which brings me to Fire Creek Road- definitely visit this park. Grills, stream to float down on tubes and a hidden waterfall - all for free. Thanks for letting us enjoy this paradise!!

We just returned from a spring break vacation week at Fisherman's Retreat, and can't say enough about what a wonderful experience it was. Our son, who is eleven, was absolutely in his element. With a GREAT fishing stream literally steps from the back door to the pool table, dart board and gaming system to choose from, he was happy and occupied the entire time. Our two dogs seemed equally pleased, and enjoyed the wood burning stove tremendously. The owners seemed to have thought of everything one might need, right down to the rechargeable battery powered "lanterns" that helped light our way when a big thunderstorm struck on our third night in and knocked out the power for a few hours (we LOVED it). The kitchen was well appointed and had every conceivable pot, pan and utensil ready to cook up a country breakfast or tasty brown trout (caught right at the bottom of the path to the creek), and having a washer and dryer in the basement made it easy as ever to pack everyone up for a week's stay...just pack light and do a quick load of wash half way through! :) Lots to do in the nearby communities and some incredible scenery. We especially enjoyed horseback riding at "Chunky Gal Stables", with the barn no more than about four miles from the house. We HIGHLY recommend Fisherman's Retreat for your visit to the North Carolina mountains!
Owner response:It is truly heart warming and a blessing that we were able to provide the opportunity for your family to have such a memorable time during your stay at Fisherman's Retreat. We look forward to having you back for future memories to be made. Thanks so much.

My husband and I stayed at the Fisherman's Retreat and had a wonderful time. Our first stay was October 2009 and the color was absolutely beautiful. We have booked for May and October 2010. We can't wait to go back. The house is very comfortable, feels like being at home. The kitchen is roomy and has a wonderful oven. When we arrived there was a basket of goodies on the kitchen for us. I love the porch and the sound of the creek flowing below. Our little Bischon dog just loved running the fenced in area chasing the falling leaves. The game room is very nice. Having laundry facilities is a big help, that way we did not have to bring home all dirty clothes. We enjoyed the area near by and found a couple good places to eat. This year my sister and her husband are going with us, I know he will be trying to catch some trout. We might even see a bear fishing too. Can't wait to go back this May and again in the fall.

This house made me feel in awe. I spent Christmas there and it's been the best ever. The view of the mountains is breath taking and the fishing was great never wanted to leave the creek this big bear found plenty of trout. Thought about panning for gold. Can't wait till I book again it is a home away from home and makes you feel like royalty. I would recommend you take the chance to visit and it will make you feel like you were snuggling in your home away from home. Great to have family gatherings this home gave me the feeling of love. Lots of great memories and things to do. Relax and Unwind. These are the best times of my life.

My family spent a wonderful Thanksgiving at the beautiful Fisherman's Retreat. While we didn't fish, it was definitely a retreat. The game room was great, billiards and darts. The fire pit by the river was a big hit. Even the dog had a great time. We will surely be coming back to this cabin again.

Thank you for sharing your wonderful cabin with us, it was extremely cozy and comfortable! We particularly enjoyed your sauna bath house and the whole family had a great time with the pool table and darts. We spend a day on Lake Chatuge and rented a pontoon boat, the whole family enjoyed it. Our son caught a 3 lb bass and the same son caught a brown trout in your creek. We did get to experience rain on a tin roof, which I have always wanted to do, it was awesome! We would like to come back and stay longer next time!

Wow! What a warm and welcoming home! We were a bit skeptical at first searching online for a vacation home in the mountains...but what a pleasant surprise! Your home truly became "our" home this past week. It was hard to leave the cabin to venture out because there were so many things to do here. The kids loved the basement; the pool table & plasma TV were a real hit! We enjoyed nightly campfires and walking up the creek and fishing. Thank you for making us feel like this was home away from home. We thoroughly enjoyed it & wouldn't hesitate in coming again someday!
