This very spacious house easily accomodated our family of six. Very comfortable living quarters - each bedroom had its own bath/shower. Each bedroom also has a direct view of the lake. The house's location on the lake is ideal - expansive view of the water, mountains and treelines as a backdrop, and the sun setting in the evening. The amenities were bountiful - Wifi, Direct TV, Pool Table, gas and coal grill, use of canoe, great platform dock for tying a boat, lying in the sun, and jumping off of for a swim in the lake. There are two hammocks for use as well. If you have a boat, the public launch is a few hundred feet away. The marina for renting a boat is also very close. One other fun amenity to note, a fire pit outside which we used for making Smores on two occasions. The walk from the lowest level of the house down to the water, and then the return trip back up does have some steep grades; however, my 70 year old mother in law managed quite well. Do note that it took us about 30 minutes to get off of the mountain back to Hwy 64 for the trip to the grocery store. So when you go the grocery make sure your list is complete. In addition to my mother in-law, my wife and I, age 48 and 49, respectively, were joined by our daughters, ages 20 and 17, and our 9 year old son. We all left with the unamimous feeling that this was one our best family vacations.

We were very excited about our vacation at Lake Nantahala but the house exceeded our expectations. The photos don't do it justice! We had two families there for a week and the house was perfect - our kids had plenty of their own space (a floor to themselves) and even their own kitchen! The view is breathtaking and our "coffee mornings" on the back deck were priceless. The journey to and from the dock is quite steep and probably not advisable for someone who is older or unstable, but it was really worth the trek because we spent a good bit of time on the dock, playing on the water and boating. The best part of our stay at this lovely home was the warmth and comfort we felt in being there. It felt as if friends had invited us to stay rather than feeling like it was a "rental." We would highly recommend making this the site of your family vacation or reunion. It was evident how much love and time has gone into creating this beautiful home.
