The 3 Bears Cabin- an Adirondack Adventure
- Minimum stay:2 nights
- Internet:Yes
- Pets allowed:Yes
- Wheel chair accessible:No
Located ten minutes from the skiing at Whiteface Mt. and twenty-five minutes to the tourist attractions of Lake Placid, The 3 Bears Cabin, is a tranquil getaway location that is surrounded by as much excitement as you would wish to explore.
The 3 Bears Cabin is set in the solitude of the pine trees, yet is easily accessible, and a destination for family and friends. The Cabin is constructed using traditional post and beam craftsmanship where particular attention was paid to maintaining an airtight and draft free environment. The all-wood interior will surround you with a warm and comfortable feeling that can only be experienced in a home that is constructed in the post and beam fashion.
The main floor features cathedral-ceilings, and an open kitchen floor plan allows guests to interact while cooking and dining.
When it is time to retire for the evening, The 3 Bears Cabin will accommodate 6 guests and well trained dogs.
The cabin features two downstairs bedrooms, each with massive cedar mortise and tenon, queen-sized beds. The beds were crafted in the rustic tradition but the subtle pillow-top mattress will certainly soothe your tired muscles and ensure a restful night's sleep.
If one is looking to accommodate additional guests there is a comfortable queen-sized futon, with extra thick mattress, situated in front of the glass-fronted wood stove. Though the guests who choose to sleep on the futon will not have a traditional bed, they will however, have the experience of falling asleep in front of the fireplace while gazing up into the beautiful post and beam rafters.
The 3 Bears Cabin also has a full bath on each floor where one can take a hot shower and prepare for the adventures right at your doorstep.

We stayed at 3 Bears Cabin for three nights to ski at Whiteface for two days. The entire weekend was very relaxing and enjoyable, esp. the way it seemed to revolve around bears (Bruin Lane, bear crossing on the mountain, ate at Dancing Bears...). The house was very inviting and warm. However, it would be even better if there were additional blankets for the four of us, and def. not enough for six. The steps to the bedrooms were a bit daunting at first, but nice and solid so negotiating them became second-hand. Exterior pictures of the house do not really do it justice, and too many of them. Would love to see it in the summer with all the foliage and deck furniture..... While we enjoyed seeing the various (friendly) dogs visit, ours wasn't too happy about it, but, she'll get over it. Really didnt care for Dancing Bears for dinner as they messed up our order, but the Hungry Trout was great! Would def. eat there again if in the area. Yes, I would recommend 3 Bears to a friend. In fact, as the travel time to the mountain was less than 20 min, we would stay there if we were to ski Whiteface again.Recommended for: Age 55+, pet owners, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

3 Bears was everything we needed for a ski weekend away. Great location to Lake Placid and Whiteface, it was quiet and relaxing and very comfortable. I would encourage more indoor photos because the place is lovely. Instructions on the wood stove were dead on....and helpful to not having the boys overstock it and heat us out of the place. We tried to do the bob sleding one day at the Olympic site but they were holding practices (which were great to watch) so I would call in advance next time. Whiteface was great for advanced and beginners and the weather certainly cooperated. A highlight for us was to be greeted by a neighbours sweet and wellbehaved dog everytime we went out or came back for the day. Since we all left our dogs at home, this was a welcome addition to the weekend. One last suggestion. Follow the directions on how to arrive if coming from Canada. We plugged the address into our GPS and had a lovely roundabout trip through the mountains. Had the weather been worse, this could have been more difficult (downed trees, no cell service, steepish hills and not a lot of cabins in use for miles). The home route was much quicker! We are hoping to make this a regular ski season trip and would easily return to the cabin.Recommended for: Pet owners, romantic getaway, girls getaway.

We just spent a great weekend at 3 Bears Cabin. Everything went super smooth. Cabin was clean, peaceful and well appointed. Both queen beds were comfy. Plenty of wood and towels. About ten minutes to Whiteface and 30 to the town of Lake Placid. Only thing that would have made it perfect was if the bbq was available for use in the winter.Recommended for: Age 55+, pet owners, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

We stayed at the 3 Bears Cabin in January 2013. We were very please with the accommodations. We were very comfortable and not far to ski. The neighbours dogs did come for a visit. They are very friendly. The only thing that we were missing was a hair dryer. Very nice, very clean, recently renovated. I would highly recommend it.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, pet owners, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, girls getaway, sightseeing.

We were very pleased to find the cabin just as it appeared in the photos. Very clean. It was about a 15-20 minute drive to Whiteface. I rented this cabin because it was pet friendly. TO PET FRIENDLY! Neighbors have three HUGE dogs who chase your car into the driveway and show up whenever you do. Needless to say, my two poodles were held hostage in the house most of the time. The neighbor dosen't bother to call them . Highly recommend to people who are not afraid of dogs or do not have any.Recommended for: Age 55+, romantic getaway, families with teenagers.

If you are looking for a conveniently located home with upscale cabin decor and luxury bedding, this is your place. We rented 2 houses while my husband was doing the Lake Placid Ironman and this is the one that was the winner!! The owner was very accommodating and easy to work with...the home has very easy access and departure with a key pad instead of keys to be picked up and left in strategic places and most of all the beds were so very comfortable. It is good for 4 people and not larger groups ..but really a wonderful and inviting place to spend some time. We are already thinking of change of season rental at this wonderful place.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

I Stayed at The 3 Bears Cabin with a few friends for a weekend this Winter. It was a wonderful experience. The cabin is warm and cozy and everything is new and in great condition. Our dog enjoyed the wrap around porch and everyone sat by the beautiful wood burning stove each snowy night. During the day we skied at Whiteface mountain which was only a few minutes from the cabin. We will definitely stay at 3 Bears Cabin again.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/1

I visited over Thanksgiving of 2007 with my family. This is a very lovely, cozy, clean and warm camp. In fact, the beautiful Vermont casting stove is a bit too large for the cabin for heating purposes, so don't put more than one stick of firewood in the wood stove or you'll be very hot. The 3 Bears cabin is located in a development, but this doesn't take away from feeling like you're getting away, as the area is totally wooded. In fact,if you go for a walk you will see that all the other cabins are small and cute. I would highly recomment this cabin.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

I stayed at 3 bears cabin this past fall of 2006. My family and I had a great time. The cabin is everything it is advertised to be. It was clean and comftorable, and the grounds are well kept. The cabin is easy to get to, and the location makes it easy to get to all of the areas activities. I have stayed at a few other places up that way. This one I will be returning to..Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0
