This charming house is nestled in the woods and has cathedral ceilings. The house is very light and very private, there are no other houses visible. The property is 1 mile from a beautiful, kid-friendly beach at Lambert's Cove. This home works well for two small families, with a spacious master bedroom and full bath on the first floor, and two bedrooms with a loft and a second full bath upstairs. The private yard on a quiet street makes it a terrific location for young children.
Features include a large, closed-in dining room, with fully equipped, pass-through kitchen, lovely front deck and lawn, outdoor enclosed shower, wood floors and ceiling fans in all rooms.

Owner Description
This is our mother's house. My sisters and I, along with our partners and children, have spent many summers and Thanksgivings here. It's a great house to make memories. The house is very comfortable and family-oriented, a wonderful place to relax and enjoy time together. My sisters and I live in different states now and jointly own and manage the home.

Don't stay here! Ants, Stains, Not Clean and they unfairly kept part of our deposit

The folks who own this house are clearly milking it for every penny, with no investment in the place. It's near Lambert's Cove beach, but that's about all I can say nice about the place or the owners. It appears that nothing has been updated in more than 20 years -- the furniture is old and worn, the toilets are stained, the kitchen utensils are mismatched, the walls are dirty. The sleeping loft was so nasty that people were afraid to go up there. They did leave a few 80's CDs for us to play; they probably bought the Huey Lewis and the News CD the same day they bought the furniture and the most recent can of paint. At move-in, we were greeted by ants, cobwebs and dirty floors. It took numerous phone calls to the owners to get the cleaning services to address the problems. And a month after we moved out we find out they were withholding money from our deposit to pay for the cleaners who came to fix the move-in problems! They also failed to mention that, despite advertising an outdoor gas grill, there was none. So I had to beg them to get one. Not exactly how you want to spend your annual vacation. And the front yard was so infested with ants (we counted 30 ant hills) that our kids couldn't go out there to play. It's also worth noting that Longview Road, which connects the house to the rest of the island, is long and with a lot of sharp turns. Not fun for many drivers, and not a road we felt comfortable walking or riding bikes along. Getting the deposit back was a headache, requiring multiple emails. And, as previously mentioned, they unilaterally decided to make us pay to have the house cleaned at move-in, even though the contract said we only had to pay at move-out. The house is co-owned by siblings who don't appear to communicate with each other, making communications with the bunch kindof weird and awkward. They should just sell the house, split the proceeds and let the new owner actually take good care of the house. This is our fifth year coming to Martha's Vineyard. We love it there and we love Lambert's Cove Beach. But you couldn't pay us to go back to this house. It is not a charming house at all.

Pros: The house is close to Lambert's Cove Beach. This is a great beach for kids with no surf, warm water, and soft sand. We had to drive there because our kids are young and it would have been too far for them to walk, though adults probably could. The house is large with more than enough space for our small family. It is also very private with no view of neighbors and has a good front yard for kids to play in. It has a well-stocked kitchen and nice deck for relaxing. Cons: Ants!! We were not told that the kitchen was full of ants. There were ant traps around so, clearly, the owners or caretakers are aware of the issue. We couldn't keep any food out....had to buy large plastic ziplock bags for all food. The grill was charcoal, although the website said gas. This is not a big deal...just plan for more time to cook dinner. Also, there was a ceiling fan in only one of the bedrooms and on hot nights they are really needed in all bedrooms. Finally, the owners were not prompt with the return of the security deposit, despite the language in the lease. It was returned after several emails.
