This charming Lake cottage shares 100 feet of small pebble beach on Flathead Lake with the owner who lives next door. From the living room and outside patio is a spectacular view of the lake and mountains.
Easy one hour drive to Glacier National Park on mostly four lane US Highways 93 and 2. Located at the North West corner of Flathead Lake, this cottage is only minutes away from world class fishing and hunting. Eight golf courses are within an hours drive. Visitors can also enjoy a wide variety of water sports including boating, fishing, kayaking, sailing and jet skiing (Commercial charters and/or rentals are available in Somers, Lakeside and Bigfork. On Tuesday and Friday evenings you can sit back on the beach with a campfire and watch the local North Flathead Lake Yacht club races directly offshore.
The kitchen is equipped with the usual appliances except a dishwasher (My wife thinks that washing and drying dishes together is a great family activity). Cooking pots and pans; silverware, dishes and glassware are all included. There are several excellent restaurants nearby. Bonus amenities include a washer and dryer in the entry area. A TV with DVD is found in the living room.
The bathroom was remodeled in 2006 with tile floor, pedestal sink and combination tub/shower. The kitchen range and microwave and the clothes washer were replaced in 2005. The
refrigerator was replaced in 2008
Flathead Lake provides excellent fishing for Lake Trout, Bull Trout, West Slope cutthroat trout, whitefish and perch.

We really enjoyed our stay at the cottage. It is just that, small and cozy and right on the lake. The owners live right next door so they are there to help if needed. We would gladly stay there again. The town of Lakeside is only three miles away and there are a couple of good dining spots in that town: The Tamarack Brewery and The Docks (the only 2 we tried). Three miles in the other direction is Somers and Del's Bar with a nice bar atmosphere and grub. The weather was perfect, the days warm and the nights cool. Wonderful!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, romantic getaway, age 55+.

My wife, i and our kids, ages 10 and 5, had a really great time in this cottage. It's simple, but comfortable for families with kids and its location on the waterfront is nearly ideal. The small private beach is pebble, but perfectly swimmable. Owner Bruce treated us as if we were part of his family. He gave us a ride in his motorboat and let us use his son's canoe and kayaks. Needless to say kids loved it... * You can completely disregard concerns listed by the first review unless you have real physical disabilities.Recommended for: Sightseeing, families with young children.

This old quaint cottage is clean and well maintained - a real value! However, the entrance to the cottage is at the end of a fairly steep incline as is the lawn leading to the lake, which has no dock and very little usable beach space. The bathtub is installed on a platform about two feet off the floor, so getting in and out of the tub is difficult. The master bed is a very hard surface; we left after staying only one sleepless night. I am not a disabled person, but I am a 67 year old, who has had multiple orthopedic surgeries. I am not totally able bodied, as a result!Owner response: The entrance is 5 feet below the parking area, down a gently sloping path and 5 steps to the door. The Lake beach is about 8 feet below the front door, down 6 steps and across about 40 feet of lawn (About 10% grade). In the mountains of Montana, this is considered a gentle slope.

Owner info
Year Purchased: 1970
About the owner: Retired from ownership of a computer sales and service business in 2002.
Why the Owner Chose Somers:
We bought this property in 1970 while we were working in California. We were both raised in the Flathead, so this was to be our retirement home. We bought a business in Somers and moved 'home' in 1971, built a new house in '77 and raised our 2 children here.
The Unique Benefits at this Cottage:
We live here year round and love the lake. The cottage is located next door to the house we built in 1977. Great place to raise our kids as the lake provided year round entertainment and recreation. Sailing, fishing, boating, water skiing, tubing, swimming are some of the recreation our guests (and grandkids) enjoy. Full kitchen for money saving eating or eat-out at several near by restaurants. Easy drive to Glacier National Part for day trips. .
