  With our 5 kids (from 6 to 15 year old), we spent the most wonderful vacation last summer. The house is just perfect: well decorated, clean, quiet location, and less than 5 minutes walk to the beach. It comes fully furnished, including beach towels, chairs, toys, and bicycles! The kids loved the house and the location. It is an easy drive to downtown San Diego (20 minutes). We had a warm welcome from the owner. We really felt like home. Just the perfect vacation!

  My family has been staying at Rosemont Cottage for the previous 6 years and can only give it the highest of recommendations. My husband and I take our children and their families with us every year. My grandchildren, ages 8 and 6, begin talking about next year as soon as we arrive home. One of my earliest and fondest memories is rocking my youngest granddaughter to sleep while looking out the upstairs window at the ocean! The owner does have very strict guidelines and expectations for the cottage as she considers it her home. Because of this, the cottage looks exactly as it did 6 years ago when we first arrived....freshly painted, decorator-level furnishings, and beautiful gardens and lawn. It comes fully furnished, including beach towels, chairs, and toys! Because of the heated outside shower, we have never found the 1 1/2 baths an issue. We have always had full use of the common area in the back, barbecuing most every night, and enjoy catching up and meeting the year round residents. The kids play every morning in the front yard as my husband reads the paper. I have recommended the property to many of my friends, being sure they know it is not your typical beach rental. The owner has always been quick to respond to any problems or concerns we've had. And she has always been professional in dealing with any problems we have created. While some may not appreciate having such structure (I admit we were a little surprised the first year or two), I realize that is why we always feel assured our beach cottage experience will be exactly what we want! Everyone has their own set of expectations for what they want in a rental property. For us, Rosemont Cottage works! We are already looking forward to our visit next summer.

  The house is very clean and nicely decorated. However, the upstairs bedrooms have no fans and the a/c just isn't able to cool those areas. It is very hot and uncomfortable. We had to purchase fans ourselves. The stairs are extremely narrow. One member of our family fell and broke his toe on these stairs - definitely not good for children. One shower in the house - not good for 6 adults. Backyard cannot be used by children and the front yard is wet until midday. The back area shares with 2 cottages so there are always people walking through. There is absolutely NO PRIVACY. Laundry usage is restricted to certain days/times. The maid HAD to clean on her day even though we requested no maid service due to having a toddler in the home. The manager stated that it HAD to be done then. I thought since we were paying we could have had some consideration. We went away for a few days and when we came back our bottled water had been taken and our personal property moved to the storage area. I'm sure the maid assumed we were gone! Two members of our party smoked off of the property and the manager again came to the house to tell us it was a no smoking property. We explained that the smoking was done off property but she said she couldn't have it because it would come into the house.Trying to control what your renters do off the property was just too much! We felt that someone was always watching, waiting and telling if we moved the wrong way! We are VRBO owners also (4 properties) and know how to care for properties. We were very clean, quiet and neat but all of our party felt very uncomfortable and felt that we were always being spied upon. Also, the wi-fi wasn't good. It continually would cut in and out. The walk to the beach is quite hilly and the beach area is very craggy and difficult to maneuver with beach gear. We definitely would not stay here again due to these concerns.
