  We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Australia. After our cruise we stayed 5 nights in this apartment in Sydney. It is exactly as pictured and the owners are extremely helpful and hospitable. Its as pictured, complete with the birds at breakfast and the possum at night. All furnishings are of high quality and are either new or refurbished antiques.. I especially enjoyed having a washer in the apartment, as I cannot tolerate dirty laundry. The owners have pretty much thought of everything and all you will need is food. The owners do tours of Sydney and even have a boat, however because of the short stay we did our own thing by taking the train each day into the city which is an easy walk from the apartment.. The apartment is in Normanhurst an upper-class suburb in Sydneys north with lots of vegation and flowers and the ride into the city is a little over 30min. You arrive at one othe Central stations with connections everywhere. We bought tickets for unlimited use of the trains, ferries and buses which were very reasinable. All in all, our stay in the apartment was one of the high points of our trip, as we were able to meet real Australians and actually live in the real Australia. As far as money is concerned, we paid a deposit by credit card and the remainder, also by credit card when we left the apartment.

  It was true. This tree house has everything in a park with a pool and only 5 min from the train. From here you can easllly access the whole city. Thank you for a wonderful introduction to Sydney - keep doing what your doing, it was great. Come for a cruise with us on the StLawrence in May or September

  Here we are all the way from Alberta, Canada and what a perfdect place to begin our adventure on your beautiful continent. We have rented a number of apartments on VRBO but this exceeds any that we have stayed in before. There is nothing that we wanted for. Your tree house is perfectly outfitted and we wish that we could stay longer. Jan & Ron you are amazing hosts, so welcoming, a wealth of information and I feel like that we have known you forever. If you plan a trip to to Alberta to visit our beautiful Rockie Mountains, please look us up. Thank you for a wonderful stay Bev and Bob

  We were here for a week and what a great place to stay.Everything is as described.Very clean,lots of room for 2,modern appliances.Sit out on the deck and enjoy the sounds of the birds.The view of the conservation area is great.The birds do come for a feeding which Ron & Jan supply the food for you to feed. You really feel like you are outside the city,quiet at night and even through out the day.The train is only a few minutes walk and what a great deal $60.00 for a weeks pass on the trains,bus,ferries. Ron and Jan are great hosts.

  What a fantastic experience we had here! I purposely chose this location because it was somewhat out of the city. That turned out to be a fantastic choice. We were able to see the fireworks on Sydney Harbour for New Year's Eve, and then leave the massive crowds and relax in our own private apartment. The Normanhurst train station is about a 5 minute walk, and then it's just a 30-minute or so ride into the city. We really enjoyed the tranquility of the apartment. It is nicely equipped with everything you need for a comfortable stay, and very clean and modern inside. The owners, Ron and Jan, were incredibly hospitable and friendly. They were a great help with accommodation and area information. They are the type of people that you feel like you've known your whole life. They invited us down to the pool area for beers on our first night, and it was a great way to get introduced to a local's Australia. Speaking of the pool, what a great way to unwind after a day of exploring the city! And to not share it with other tourists and their children is practically priceless. The apartment is quiet and surrounded by wildlife. During our stay we saw possums, peacocks, lorikeets, water dragons, and more. The property backs up to a national park, which adds to its tranquility. I would recommend this apartment to anyone who is willing to sacrifice being in the city for a serene, almost wilderness-like setting. Add to the fact that the owners are great people and you have a once-in-a-lifetime holiday experience. Thanks so much for our stay, Ron and Jan, and making us feel truly welcome. I'm going to recommend your apartment to everyone we know!

  I travel to Australia about 3 times a year on business and this was the first time my husband was able to travel with me. We took a week of vacation together and were so glad we chose to stay here! Everything is just wonderful starting with the hosts--Ron and Jan are very accommodating and helpful. They will do everything they can to make your visit special. The airport pickup/drop off with the tour is well worth the money. We had explored Sydney proper already so Ron gave us a great tour of natural Australia which was lovely and the stop at the grocery on the way to the flat had us well equipped for our week. We took the train everywhere during that week and found it convenient and easy to use for both travel into Sydney and the suburbs. The Normanhurst Station is a comfortable walk from the flat and a good station as a starting point for just about any locale in Sydney. The flat is beautiful as are the grounds. It is wonderful to feed the lorikeets each morning and just a relaxing place after a hectic week before. We're surely hoping we can arrange another holiday where we can spend some wonderful time at this great location. We're already recommending it to people we know are headed to Australia!

  A late review but a place and folks we would never forget. Heading for Sydney last March we found Ron & Jan’s lovely place on VRBO and took a chance. The rate did exceed our budget but were we rewarded? You bet. The ultimate case of “you get what you pay for’ and in this case we discovered ‘an absolute gem’ owned by two of the nicest folks south of the equator. The place is as exactly as described: fully independent, perfectly livable, most comfortable and surprisingly quaint - not quite a tree house but the deck makes you think you are living in the trees. The pictures do not fully represent the environment. How can you picture a morning wake up to demanding chirps from the lorikeets wanting their ‘porridge breakfast’ and then in the late evening receiving a possum visit. Sydney is a fantastic tourist place made that much easier by a short 10 minute walk away to the Normanhurst train station from which there is excellent service to centre town as well as connections to where ever you would like to venture. The weekly pass came within budget and covers trains, trams, buses, ferries getting us to beaches, shopping and numerous sightseeing venues. In addition, Jan drove us to a local theme park so the distaff side could ‘pet a Koala’ now there’s an experience. Not to be left out, Ron gave us a grand ‘walk-about’ through the encroaching forested lands just out back of their place. We did benefit from knowing other Sydney area folks, met on a European River Cruise, who filled in our holiday adventures to the northern beaches and the Blue Mountains whereas Ron & Jan gave us a couple of days off the rental. We could not have found a better place to stay nor more perfect hosts, and to you folks, a terrific thank you from us Western Canucks.

  Our cousin recommended that we look for accommodations on VRBO, and we hit the jackpot when we found this tree house in Normanhurst. The apartment is fabulous. New, modern, immaculate, an equipped kitchen, and such a nice place to be, that some days we chose to stay home. The neighborhood was quiet and peaceful. We were close to Macquarie University where our daughter is studying abroad, and it was an easy train ride from MU to the apartment. We were a short walk to the train station to go into the city, which we did many times. We did not need to rent a car, because of the excellent transit system in the Sydney area. There was a shopping center 4 minutes away by train, where we could buy groceries, as needed. We were entertained by the lorikeets that came to the apartment deck, the kookaburras, the king parrot, that made an appearance on our last day, and the possums that made a nightly appearance for bananas or grapes. But, best of all, was meeting Ron and Jan, who made our stay even more special by showing us the Hawkesbury River area and their own oasis on the river. We saw places that most tourists do not visit. Ron and Jan were very knowledgable about activities and attractions in the Sydney area. It was an amazing trip, and we will always have fond memories of our time in Sydney.

  My husband and I stayed at this lovely apt. for 6 weeks-the last 3 weeks of Feb. and the first 3 of March 2012. The apt. is attractive, comfortable and immaculately kept. Ron and Jan, our hosts, have thought of every possible thing you could need, including high quality linens, comfortable furniture and big windows on all four sides. The bird life was hugely entertaining and feeding "our" lorikeets was a high point of each day. Jan and Ron are very helpful with suggestions on sightseeing both in Sydney centre and the outlying areas, which we urge you to see if you have time.They were helpful with "how-to's" with the public transit system and a weekly pass made it all so easy. Thanks to Ron and Jan's knowledge and encouragement, we learned a lot about the natural world, flora and fauna in the area and a deep respect for and interest in the history of Australia. We found Sydney a friendly, safe city to visit with something for everyone.We had a WONDERFUL time!

  Let me try to prequalify my comments by saying that I own and operate a luxury boutique hotel in France and Spain. I have been in the small luxury hotel business for decades in the USA and in eight countries in Europe. I have always believed that a small luxury hotel must provide more than a place to sleep and eat. It needed to provide a memorable lifestyle experience for its guests. When I made my reservation to stay at Ron and Jan's "Tree House" they advised me to lower any expectations that I might have harbored about their bushland pied-à-terre as a luxury accommodation. That combined with my trepidation about booking online based upon a website, made me nervous, but, in reality their elegant, unique Australian retreat was beautiful, functional and very, very comfortable. It also was peaceful, which in today’s world is very much a luxury. However, more importantly, it really did provide a memorable experience. Years from now, I will likely forget the 5 star hotels where we stayed during our Australian holiday. Each hotel was wonderful, but very much the same as dozens of other experiences around the globe, but I know that we will never forget the wonderful experience that we had at the Tree House. The only thing that will be even more memorable than Ron and Jan's home was Ron and Jan! They combine all the great qualities of Ausies-- good cheer and hospitable without ever being intrusive. Altogether, our tree house stay would have been an unbeatable value even at double or triple the price! As far as the location, when I booked, I was a bit concerned that maybe it was too far from Sydney or maybe it was not private enough, but really any concerns that I may have had, disappeared immediately upon our arrival. I also decided in advance to take advantage of Ron's pick up service and Sydney tour on our first day and also reserved a day on the river with skipper Ron at the helm of his and Jan’s boat. I can recommend that you take advantage of both of these offers if fits your schedule. Also, the possums and the parrots were a kick! You won't get tired of seeing or feeding them. We also had some wild turkeys welcome us home one afternoon. All in all, it is amazing, fun, warm and wonderful. If you are considering a stay at the Tree House—go for it. I am certain that you will enjoy the experience
