We stayed in the Casita for a week and enjoyed every minute of it. It is perfect for a couple of people that don’t need a ton of room and the price was right. The Casita had everything we needed. The bed was comfortable, the kitchen was surprisingly well stocked with all the normal kitchen stuff but also had the little things you need to cook a good meal (pots, pans, utensils, steamer, cutting boards to name a few). We also liked the 5 gallon purified water dispenser. There were plenty of towels to get us through the week and even made use of a couple beach towels on our outings. There was also a small Coleman cooler in the bottom cabinet that we used every day on our outings which was another bonus. The beach is about a 2-3 minute walk where the snorkeling off the end of the pier was spectacular. One nice feature about the casita as is that the pool is only 5 steps from the casita door but you have to climb a flight of stairs to get up the Casa (main house). There is a laundry room under the main house with laundry soap if you get into a bind and run out of clean clothes. Overall, we had a great stay at the CasitaDid you find this review helpful? We were there from the 28-02-2013 to 14-03-2013. We loved that place the house is beautiful clean and well furnish. The pool was really appreciate. The emplacement was great just one our two minutes walk to the ocean not to far of grocery, west end, west bay.. and private emplacement with private pool. We recommand to rent a car to be able to go were you want when you want but we saw there was a lot of taxi passing there. We were a famely with teenager and also grand-parent and everybody liked there vacation. We will consider to go again in the future. We hightly recommand Casa and Casita Cervantes.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, romantic getaway, sightseeing, age 55+, tourists without a car, girls getaway.

This is a great place and I can't wait to return. There were 5 of us vacationing together and our expectations were more than fulfilled. There was plenty of room for us to gather as well to find solitude. There are three bedrooms and each one has a door that opens to the wrap around deck. The owners are generous with amenities and what they offer for guests to use, such as lounge chairs, pool toys, kitchen wares. There is an easily accessible washer/dryer downstairs. The practical aspects left us in comfort however it is the less tangible experience of the place that has stayed with me. It was a hard choice to choose a rental that wasn't right on the beachfront, in fact I have never opted to be away from water lapping yards from the door. I'm glad I took a chance as this offered a different experience. The grounds are well maintained and tropical. The house sits on a hill with an ocean view and even though there are other homes in the area, a couple of acres away and unobtrusive, there was privacy and a sense of being away from it all. The beach is a few minutes walk and guests have use of a community dock. My main activity was snorkeling in the warm water of which I never tired. Spooky Channel is right there and is very fun to explore. At times there would be a couple of other snorkelers using the dock , sharing tips and experiences. The other community owners were welcoming and helpful. A pool sits between the house and casita and there were two guests in the casita, which added to the experience, not what I would have predicted as I tend to think I want places to myself. The pool was a treat, well maintained, cleaned daily. I found no need for a car as you just walk down the drive and a taxi usually drives by within minutes though we did rent one for a day to explore the other parts of the island. Casa Cervantes is like an oasis of calm in an inexplicable way. The main road is not visible but the noise is audible, yet the place feels remote. It is not right on the beach but it is certainly an ocean experience and for me offered the best of both worlds, a short walk to great snorkeling, swimming, and sunbathing and also the privacy and view that comes with being on top of the hill. I had solitude anytime I wanted even though I was with a group of friends and there were guests in the nearby casita. It offered everything I wanted and I can't wait to go back.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

Roatan does not look like a dream destination to me, might be just yet, but …. Casa Cervantes did make our vacation just great. Me, my wife and 12 y.o. son did occupy the casa and my eldest son with his girlfriend – casita. Spacious, everything in good shape, view from veranda just amazing. Pool area is the perfect spot to spend some time all family together, especially when afternoon sun just scorching. Deck with immediate (50m swim) to reef is a good thing too. Very convenient location – away from crowd and, at the same time, close to everything. Car rental is highly recommended. Casita’s caregiver, Kerry, (very kind and helpful, by the way) has some ¼ ton trucks for rent but we did use Dollar rent a car in the airport – my insurance does not cover trucks. Driving on Roatan a bit tricky but nothing really bad - about the same as in Costa Rica or Mexico. Nearby restaurants we liked – Hungry Kiwi (no dinner), Blue Parrot (try Saturday karaoke night), Blue Bahia (you can drive through the beach to there), Tex-Mex in West Bay, Mayan Princess in West End. Did not have a good experience with local deep-see fishing captain – name’s Tex. I have a doubt that he’s really knows how to do his stuff. Again, Casa and Casita did turn our vacation into a pleasure – thanks a lot to Debbie for excellent communication and management, Kerry for his help with everyday needs, Percival for his hard work on the parcel every day. We just wrapped up our week stay in the pool casita and it was fantastic! The casita is a great value for couples. It has everything you need for a perfect vacation; fully equipped kitchen, comfortable bed, hot shower, great deck with beautiful view, refreshing pool, close to the beach... I could go on and on about it. The owner and property manager are extremely helpful and responded quickly to all our questions before and during our stay. We also had the pleasure of sharing the property with the guests of the main house which made our trip all the more pleasurable. This is our second trip to Roatan, which is a wonderful destination. There is great diving, snorkeling, fly fishing, and beach bumming. It really has something for everyone. If you rent a car and want to explore the island, I hihly recommend having lunch at Carl's near French Harbour. Can't wait to return!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/1

1st time to Roatan and opted for renting the villa versus a Hotel. What a great decision that turned out to be. We really wanted to get away from the hustle and bustle and the Casa was just what the doctor ordered. Comfortable and convienent ar ethe first 2 words that come to mind. We enjoyed the pool daily. We were there during the rainy season and i don't I've ever enjoyed a rainy day or two so much. the deck with its huge overhang is a wonderful place to sit in the rain - you stay dry but you get that wonderful sound on the roof and can look out at the breath-taking vista's. Word to the wise, you have to carefully search to find the driveway...we passed it back and forth 3 or 4 times before we found it....the Sunnyside sign was overgrown and difficult to see.....course, that's a 1-time problem as once you find it, its no longer a problem. Owners were easy to work with and very accomodating. 5-star rating all the way!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/1

We stayed at the Casa for four weeks in January/February 2012. The home was beautiful (ample space for our family of three), the pool is spectacular, the grounds are well tended and plentiful in a variety of fruits, and the beach is a short walk from the house with a dock for snorkeling and exploring. Kerry greeted us at the airport and was friendly and welcoming and available for us throughout our stay. He made our stay in Roatan a memorable one. The homeowner was quick to reply to email questions before, during and after our stay in Roatan and was always professional, friendly and helpful. We rented a vehicle on a couple of occasions to explore the island, but otherwise we were able to get taxis when we needed to go to town for groceries, as well as walking to nearby attractions. My husband went diving every day with a dive shop located a short cab ride from the Casa and we snorkeled on the reef most days. Our five year old keeps asking to watch the videos from the beach trip since we came back - it was truly the trip of a lifetime for this well-traveled family and we would go back to the Casa in a heartbeat!Recommended for: Families with young children, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, sightseeing, tourists without a car, adventure seekers, girls getaway.

I have read the other reviews of Casa and Casita Cervantes. They do a great job describing the property. What none of us can describe properly, however, are the intrinsics of an experience. Things like 7 days of Chamber of Commerce weather, or simply asking the owner and getting the name of the most reasonable boating experience on the island, or a light bulb burns out, it is out of easy reach, but a call to the manager and it is fixed before we return from the grocery store, the perfectly maintained pool, and most of all the view from the deck! All that said, for those of you over 60 and overweight, the stroll to the beach is about 300 yards and downhill...but I swear the return to the house is 1000 yards and straight uphill! :) Seriously, the best reason to rent a vehicle is to drive to the edge of the beach. For everything else, Taxis are both plentiful and cheap. Just about a 3 minute walk from the house to the pavement, and you will have a taxi within 5 minutes. There is a constant stream of them and at least a third of them are empty and hoping for a fare. That brings me to the last thing I can, and will change. Don't book just a week! I am always ready to be home after about a 5 day vacation, but at Casa Cervantes, 6 days into a 7 day stay, and the only reason we did not try for another week was that the airlines had no flights.Recommended for: Families with young children, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, age 55+, girls getaway.

This was our second year staying in Sandy Bay and our first at Casa Cervantes. Debbie the owner was very helpful in arranging our stay and answering our questions. We stayed one week in the Casita and one in the Casa. We thoroughly enjoyed the beauty of the property, view, pool, new palapa and the privacy, as we were the only occupants during most of our stay. The staff were very friendly and helpful during our stay. This location is great for snorkling. Just a short walk and swim and there you are. It's a good location for getting around if only using taxi's. We would highly recommend this spot for a couple (casita) or family (casa). We look forward to staying again next year.Recommended for: Families with young children, romantic getaway, tourists without a car.

Our family rented both the Casita and Main House over Christmas. Beautiful setting on a hill providing both a wonderful breeze and view. The home lived up to all the other reviews in VRBO. With the assistance of the very helpful gardener, Percval, we even created a Palm Christmas tree complete with lights. Having both a private pool and the close by dock with fabulous snorkling was amazing. Also there is a divemaster named Johney next to the dock in a white house. We rented an SUV at the airport upon our arrival which I would highly recommend. Good deals for cars on the internet. It gave us access to the wonderful restaurants at West Bay, shopping at West End and grocery shopping in Coxen Hole. In the end it saved us money over taxis for our large family and much more convienant. Also, be sure to visit Gumbalimba Park and their Zip-Line, the Dolphins at Anthony Key Resorts and our favorite restaurants in West Bay, Smugglers and Bite on the Beach.Recommended for: Families with young children, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, sightseeing, age 55+, adventure seekers.

About the owner: Our family went to Roatan on a scuba diving vacation and just fell madly in love with it! We live in Southern California and get down there as often as we can. You will just LOVE ROATAN!!!
Why the Owner Chose Sandy Bay:
This property is 1.5 acres of lush Roatan landscape with Banana trees, Papaya trees and all sorts of tropical flowers. The swimming pool was one of the first on the Island and it has a beautiful Palapa table to stay out of the sun. There is also a Casita that you can use if your party is larger or you are traveling with a second family.
