Christmas 2011 at Sandy Bay

Our family rented both the Casita and Main House over Christmas. Beautiful setting on a hill providing both a wonderful breeze and view. The home lived up to all the other reviews in VRBO. With the assistance of the very helpful gardener, Percval, we even created a Palm Christmas tree complete with lights. Having both a private pool and the close by dock with fabulous snorkling was amazing. Also there is a divemaster named Johney next to the dock in a white house. We rented an SUV at the airport upon our arrival which I would highly recommend. Good deals for cars on the internet. It gave us access to the wonderful restaurants at West Bay, shopping at West End and grocery shopping in Coxen Hole. In the end it saved us money over taxis for our large family and much more convienant. Also, be sure to visit Gumbalimba Park and their Zip-Line, the Dolphins at Anthony Key Resorts and our favorite restaurants in West Bay, Smugglers and Bite on the Beach.

Can't Wait to Go Back!

My husband and I had a lovely ten days in the Casita. The vistas, the flora and fauna, the short walk to the dock, the wonderful snorkeling, beautiful pool, and ease of catching a taxi all made for a perfect trip. The Casa was empty for much of our stay, which added to the wonderful sense of privacy and tranquility. The caretaker, gardener, and maids were all delightful and friendly. Kerry, the caretaker, was very helpful and went above and beyond to make our stay comfortable. Can't wait to go back!

January 2011 at the Casita

Guest: David (Rochester, MN USA)

My wife and I stayed at the casita for a week and thoroughly enjoyed the cozy comfort of the cottage and the luxury of having a pool just a few feet from our door. The photos on the web don’t do justice to the beauty of the location. The foliage around the place is lush, the walk to the beach takes only a minute and the snorkeling off the dock is wonderful. I took many beautiful underwater shots. The property manager was accommodating and personable. I highly recommend this place!

Just Right

Guest: Susan (Northern California)

We stayed in the charismatic Big House for 2 weeks. We loved it! There was six adults, 3 siblings and spouses. It worked out wonderfully. The deck was perfect for dinning, to stay up late having great conversations along with glasses of wine and rum. One night, with the help of the care-taker, we even hired a local cook to make us some delicious local fair. Fish soup to flan, it was all extremely yummy. The bedrooms were all adequate, but my husband and chipped in a little more to have the master suite. It was worth it. It was the quietest and largest bedroom in the house, with a private bath. The community dock offered all of us hours of entertainment. We sun-bathed, swam, and snorkeled off it. We could have even went scuba diving there (Spooky Channel), but we had signed up with a West-End shop at a good rate of $25 a dive. The dock also offered a beautiful, cool place to hang out. We watched many golden sunsets from there, cheering and clinking to each one. There are some many places to vacation in life that my husband and I usual plan on new places for each vacation. For Roatan we are already planning a trip to come back. There are so many fun things to do there from steel pan lessons (Debra at Steel Pan Alley) to extreme scuba diving (shark dive out of Coxen Hole). A big and most appreciated bonus, most all of the people who live in Roatan are very friendly and appear to be thankful for tourism.

Perfect Private Get-away!

Date of Stay: 11/13/10 Review Submitted: 11/24/10

My husband and I stayed at the Casita for seven days in mid-November, 2010. It was just terrific - exactly what we were looking for! The efficiency apartment was very clean and well appointed - the property had a pristine pool and the surrounding gardens were lush. Precious deck had a great view and handy grill. The kitchen had everything we needed when we decided to cook ourselves. The location was only minutes from West End but mostly, we swam and snorkled from the beautiful private pier - there was no need to look further for spectacular coral reefs! We were picked up at the airport and returned there at week's end and even rented the car for a day - however for our purposes, we found that unneccessary because the location was so good. I would highly recommend this place for any couple and the adjoining "Casa" looked like it would serve a large family beautifully. I expect we'll return to Roatan in the future and will look no further for accomodations. Also, for good food, drinks and friendly service, check out Ronnie's Barfeet Bar and Grill at the end of the road of West End!

We love your house. We were seven people two of them kids. The house was clean and had plenty to room, The location was excellent. We snokeled everyday from the beach at the house. We also rented the small castia for two of the family. We all said it was the best family vacation we had. Each day we did something fun. The house was fully stocked we all you need to cook and play. The pool was a extra addition to the fun.

Perfect Family Getaway!

Guest: Brenda (Barrington Hills, IL/ USA)
Date of Stay: 03/20/10 Review Submitted: 06/22/10

Our family flew to Roatan for spring break, 2010. We knew when we stepped off the plane we made the right decision. While others waited to rent a car, we were hand delivered the owners truck (which I recommend renting for the week). We stayed in the main home. We had plenty of room for the three children. It was an easy walk to one of the most spectacular snorkeling spots on the island. Each morning, we would start our day with a morning swim off the dock. We would then set out to explore the island. The people are friendly and the food is delicious! All the beaches we visited had unique characteristics, some were secluded, some had tourists/shopping/restaurants. We went zip lining three times! (our boys loved the parrots and turtles) The house was clean/well-maintained, with a large deck encircling the entire place. The views were spectacular, and in the afternoons, we sat on the deck and read books. (no need to bring any, there are plenty to choose from the previous guests). This is a great place to get-away for an adventure (especially if you like snorkeling/scuba diving). We would highly recommend this property to our closest friends and family.
