Beachbiscuit, a newly constructed waterfront home situated on Broadkill Beach, has high ceilings and miles of windows overlooking the sand and surf on each level. Main level has a fabulous layout for relaxing or entertaining.
Modern kitchen opens to a family room and 30 feet of Beachfront deck overlooking the water. The appliances are top of the line and the furnishings are upscale but not stuffy. Designed for privacy and convenience, each master bedroom also opens to beach side decking and has its own full bath (a shower in one and a jacuzzi in the other). Over-sized washer/dryer are nestled out of sight on upper level.
The prescription for a perfect vacation. Start the morning with coffee and a glorious sunrise -- End the day with the sound of the surf lulling you to sleep! A golf course is only a mile away. Broadkill Beach, almost 9 miles north of Lewes Delaware and just off Route 1, is just over 2 hours from DC(avoids the Rehoboth/Dewey traffic).

My family and I just returned from our second stay at the Beach Biscuit. This home is in a perfect location - so peaceful and quiet - the only sound you'll hear is the waves against the shore. The sunrise is so incredibly beautiful - I took pictures of it every day from our balcony and every one of them is unique and special. The home itself is warm and inviting - I love seeing the seashells in baskets and on shelves. It inspired my sister and I to have a contest this year as to who could find the largest conch/welk shell. (I technically won but my shell had to be returned to the ocean because it was occupied!) The Beach Biscuit is a place to make many special family memories. We loved the Broadkill Store for fresh donuts on weekends and wonderful crabcake sandwiches. My parents came with us again this year and had an even better time than last year. There is so much to do in and around Broadkill or you can just do nothing and relax. I can't even count how many miles we walked along the beach just talking and looking for shells - we didn't want to leave! Thank you for sharing your beautiful home with us - I know we'll be back next year!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with young children, girls getaway, adventure seekers.

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this property. It is so peaceful, quiet, and private for the days on the beach! Close enough to busier towns like Rehoboth and Lewes for restaurants and evening activities. Very cute local store within walking distance. House itself is beautiful, well supplied, and very comfortable. Love the double deck and being able to be front and center to the beach.Recommended for: Romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

Broadkill beach was a wonderful family friendly beach away from all the crowds. The Beachbiscuit was very comfy, clean and even though decorated very nicely was very family friendly for our children. We felt very at home there. There was a friendly little store just a walk away that had pretty much anything you might have needed and wonderful homemade donuts on the weekend. We stopped on our way out of Broadkill to take 2 dozen home with us. The evenings on the deck were a little buggy because of the beautiful refuge that surrounded the area, but was easily taken care of with some citronella candles. Our children enjoyed the strolls on the beach in the morning so that they could save the horseshoe crabs that had washed ashore. Thank you so much for sharing your wonderful beach house with us.Recommended for: Sightseeing, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with young children, girls getaway.

We stayed the last week of July 2009. It was nothing short of a perfect week. The house is just wonderful, the outside shower wonderful for the kids and sandy feet. Beautiful sunrises. Enjoyed watching the ships travel up and down the bay. We literally spent ALL day on the beach; swimming, sunning, fishing, and collecting conche shells. Every morning we coudn't wait to see how many we'd find.Recommended for: Romantic getaway, families with young children.

My husband and I are looking forward to our fifth visit in the past four years to this home. We enjoy the proximity to the beach, the quiet of the area, and every part of the house itself. To be honest, I have resisted reviewing this house because I don't want it to become too popular, but as long as we can get in our 2 weeks every year, it's a shame not to let someone else have it during the other weeks! Unlike in many beach communities, this house is not built up against the neighbors. It is beautifully decorated inside with framed prints and furnishings that I covet for my very own, and the kitchen is very well furnished. Bring your bikes because the streets are relatively quiet and most drivers slow down and hug the opposite side of the road when they see you. A small general store down the street makes great sandwiches for picnics and fresh doughnuts on weekend mornings. Trips to Rehoboth (25-minute drive) and Bethany Beach (45-minute drive) will afford boardwalk experiences, and Lewes (a 15-minute drive) is a great town to walk around, peruse the shops (Marsha's is one of our favorites), and eat (our #1 restaurant there is Striper Bites). A day-trip, on the ferry, to Cape May is a lot of fun, too. There is a long staircase to get from the entry up to the main level, so this would not be acceptable for those who have difficulty with stairs. With any luck, I will not have any problem doing this for the next 20 years or so because I cannot imagine spending my beach vacation anywhere else! Be kind to the horseshoe crabs, too. They can be plentiful on the beach, depending on the season. Flip them over with your toe if they are upside-down, and they will find their way back into the water. These guys are NOT any danger to humans, they do not sting or "pinch", and resist the impulse to be daring and pick one up by its tail. The tail is its "rudder" and is absolutely necessary for the creature's navigation. The only, and I mean only, downside about this area is that, at many times of the year, flies and mosquitoes are plentiful (from the nearby wetlands). It is almost impossible to peacefully sit out on the decks after sunset but, with the windows open, the sound of the waves crashing onto the nearby shore will be clearly audible throughout the day and night.Did you find this review helpful? This is a beautiful home right on a quiet beach. The serentity and peacefulness was much needed. If more excitement is desired you only need to get in your car and drive to Rehobeth or Ocean City. We took the ferry from Lewes to Cape May as foot passengers and had a wonderful day. Would definitely love to come back! Broadkill Beach is quiet and laid back-if you're looking for beachtime without the boardwalk or nightlife crowds-this is it. Beach access at end of driveway-2 balconies-2 in suite rooms-slept to the ocean sounds! House well stocked and not crammed too close to neighbors. Nicely decorated, light filled and not too themey with board games and magazines in case of bad weather. Wildlife horse shoe crabs and regular crabs. Swim, fish or sunning done easily. Great vacation place for our family of four!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.
