My husband and I stayed at the Ginger Hale for five nights. It was such a perfect match to the description on the website. The place was so immaculate and the location was perfect!!! We had everything we needed at our fingertips! The beach was just perfect and Susy had beach chairs, coolers and boogie boards for us to use! The walk to the beach was just as described on the website too - nice and close!!! Kailua was a great location for us to vacay with shops, restaurants, and anything else we needed! Would definitely consider the Ginger Hale again if in Kailua! Thanks Susy for all of your wonderful accommodations!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, families with young children, families with teenagers, girls getaway, romantic getaway, age 55+.

My wife and I revisited Hawaii in February of this year (2013). We were most fortunate to have had a contact who put us in touch with Jon and Suzy. What a fabulous stroke of luck. The apartment they rent is literally brand new. Its neat and spacious and the hosts are very friendly. The rooms feature a large master bedroom, living room and kitchen as well as modern bathroom. Kailua, is such a well kept secret., and Kailua Beach is one of the top beaches in the world. I would definitely rank it ahead of Waikiki and Waikiki is pretty darn good. Kailua is perfectly located so that you can enjoy a total Hawaiian Vacation. It is only 18 miles from Honolulu, a short drive to the Pele Lookout (a must see), a short drive to the highway that brings you to the North where you can experience the great waves at Sunset Beach or the huge turtles at Turtle Bay. Also, Pearl Harbor is an easy drive from Kailua. Further it is close to nice golf courses, The Dolphin Exhibit where you can actually swim with the Dolphins, or a deep sea shark dive. Kayak's rentals are also close by. This apartment is a bargain and we will be returning many time in the years to come. Enjoy!!!!! We stayed here for 18 days on what was to be a combination of business and pleasure. We were delighted to find fresh fruit and local coffee awaiting us on arrival. The unit was spacious, clean, well-equipped and very comfortable. Most importantly, it was a short walk to one of the most beautiful beaches on Oahu. We watched spectacular sunrises every morning, followed by a walk on the beach, then a swim in the gentle ocean all before noon. Another aspect that pleased us was the security of parking in a gate-enclosed area that doubled as a private side yard. We recommend this property without reservation and look forward to a return visit someday. The owners were available without being intrusive and accommodating though the thoroughness of what was supplied left us with virtually no requests.Recommended for: Families with young children, families with teenagers, girls getaway, romantic getaway, age 55+.

The Ginger Hale is the perfect place to stay in Kailua and I have been here multiple times. Located between both major access roads (the H3 and the Pali Highway), getting back and forth to Honolulu was a breeze. But staying on the Windward side was preferable, with gorgeous weather, a central location, and amazingly close access to the most lovely of beaches. The apartment itself is great, with everything you could possibly want (except an oven, but who really wants that on vacation?). The photos don't do the place justice at all. The owners are incredibly accommodating and pleasant. Suzy came out and flagged me down as I tried to find the address in the dark, then made sure I had milk for my coffee (provided) from her own kitchen - much appreciated as it was late when I arrived and pouring rain (the only rain of the entire week) the next morning. The apartment is located on the busy street, but the bedroom on the back side means the morning traffic is not as disturbing as other rentals I have used. If you are sensitive to noise, closing the windows would suffice, as they are of excellent quality. Off street, private/secure parking is much appreciated. We didn't test the air conditioning, as the weather was perfectly temperate and the ceiling fans made even the "heat" of the day completely tolerable. Wi-fi and TV were better than expected. Full-sized fridge, new hot plate/dishwasher/microwave/toaster oven and very nice stacked washer/dryer all performed marvelously... And the entire place was scrupulously clean. I can recommend this property highly and without reservation, even though that means it is less likely to be available for my next trip!Recommended for: Families with young children, families with teenagers, girls getaway, sightseeing, age 55+.
