Walker cabin description
Log Home built in the fall of 2006 - elevated view of Shingobee Bay from family and dining rooms - main floor has bedroom and bath, kitchen, and family room - loft has bedroom, bath, and sitting area (open floor plan). We are located four miles from the city of Walker - Shingobee Bay is quiet isolated bay located on the south-westen part of Leech Lake, there is water access to Walker Bay and Leech Lake via two water channels allowing you to explore the 112,000 acres with out leaving your boat. The City of Walker has public slips available, you can boat to Walker for shopping and dinner, with a scenic, relaxing ride home.
Eagle's Watch - It's more than just a name. Resident bald eagles roost in the pines along our shoreline. From their vantage point the eagles watch over the entire bay. If you have a keen eye you will be able to watch the eagles as well. You will also see several pairs of loons that make their home on the bay. At night you will fall fast asleep to their enchanting calls. After their chicks hatch in the late spring, you may spot them touring the bay on their parent's back.
A paved deep water boat landing is located across the bay making boat launching a snap - Fishing from our dock we have caught, sun fish, perch, crappie, and pike - Walker has an excellent public swimming beach four miles away.
Area Activities include Fishing - Golfing - Hiking on the North Country Trail - Biking on the Heartland Trail - Sightseeing - Boating - Casino - Shopping - Water-skiing - Exploring Itasca State Park (headwaters of the Mississippi River) and much more!
To the Objiwa 'Shingobee' means cedars, spruce and balsam trees that line the river and bay.' Come experience the scent of the pines, the breath of earth itself. Nothing save the call of the loon, more epitimize the spirit of the north. After visiting Eagle's Watch, we think you will agree.

Great for Us
Great for Us
My husband, son and I spent a few days at Eagles Watch and can't wait to go back. We are avid fisher people and Shingobee Bay offers a wide variety of fishing experiences without having to go into the main part of the lake. Eagles Watch is comfortably furnished and spacious enough for 4 to 6 guests. Would love to see a washer dryer added but not having one does not detract from the property. The owners clearly love Eagles Watch as it is expertly maintained. We hope to visit again soon. Thank you for your hospitality.

Owner response: The reviewer is correct Shingobee Bay is not in the BWCAW I did write in my personal profile that I enjoyed the solitude of the BWCAW as personal insight ? QUOTE - "my wide range of interest from climbing mountains, motorcycling to the solitude of the BWCAW and foreign travel have provided me with a unique outlook on life " - that is the only reference to to the BWCAW in the listing ? What else can I say ?

About the owner: I'm a Quality Engineer for a printing company - I've been on the job for 31 years and am looking forward to retiring at the lake some day - my wide range of interest from climbing mountains, motorcycling to solitude of the BWCAW - and foreign travel have provided me with a unique outlook on life - and make me realize how good we have it living in the USA -many of my travels can be see in the photos and furnishing of the lake home. My name is Mary and I am the better half of Ken. I started coming to Eagle's Watch two years ago. I have grown to love this place because of its serenity and peace. The natural setting is perfect for a nature lover such as my self. I have a career in Sales and Marketing. I also am looking forward to calling this place home in a few years. Although I enjoy traveling. The BWCAW is one of my favorite spots to go to with Ken. I am a outdoor person in every season. There is nothing quite like the change of seasons here in Walker. I have raised two great boys on my own since becoming widowed. I am a very proud mother.
Why the Owner Chose Walker:
The property was inherited from my father - the original cabin was built in 1952 and was a three season cabin - It had succumb to years of Minnesota weather - I rebuilt the home in 2006 - a log cabin that I had envisioned for years - One of the goals of rebuilding was to made it a year around property which we use year round now. A Minnesota winter in the woods is a special treat My father says about the cabin 'it is a pretty comfortable place' and we hope to retire there in several years
The Unique Benefits at this Cabin:
Eagles Watch is a unique vacation spot - it affords the visitor access to shopping and other city activities and offers seclusion of the woods as well - set in the Superior National Forest - It is easy to forget that you are surrounded by acres of woods Our favorite spot is in the screen porch watching the birds, listing to the loons, watching for the eagles that nest across the bay or sit at crackling fire and watching for satellites overhead - Being on the third largest lake in Minnesota we also enjoy leisurely trips in the boat exploring the lake and many bays - and of course the swing by the lake watching the sun set - it is a great place to kick back and enjoy day or two. The cabin is charming. As soon as you walk in the door the smell of the pine logs welcome you!
