Owner's Profile
Owner Description
Year Purchased: 1980
I'm 54 year old Quality Engineer for a printing company - I've been on the job for 31 years and am looking forward to retiring at the lake some day - my wide range of interest from climbing mountains, motorcycling to solitude of the BWCAW - and foreign travel have provided me with a unique outlook on life - and make me realize how good we have it living in the USA -many of my travels can be see in the photos and furnishing of the lake home.
My name is Mary and I am the better half of Ken. I started coming to Eagle's Watch two years ago. I have grown to love this place because of its serenity and peace. The natural setting is perfect for a nature lover such as my self.
I have a career in Sales and Marketing. I also am looking forward to calling this place home in a few years. Although I enjoy traveling. The BWCAW is one of my favorite spots to go to with Ken. I am a outdoor person in every season. There is nothing quite like the change of seasons here in Walker.
I have raised two great boys on my own since becoming widowed. I am a very proud mother.
Why the Owner Chose Walker
The property was inherited from my father - the original cabin was built in 1952 and was a three season cabin - It had succumb to years of Minnesota weather - I rebuilt the home in 2006 - a log cabin that I had envisioned for years - One of the goals of rebuilding was to made it a year around property which we use year round now. A Minnesota winter is the woods is a special treat
My father says about the cabin "it is a pretty comfortable place" and we hope to retire there in several years
The Unique Benefits of this Cabin
Eagles Watch is a unique vacation spot - it affords the visitor access to shopping and other city activities and offers seclusion of the woods as well - set in the Superior National Forest - It is easy to forget that you are surrounded by acres of woods Our favorite spot is in the screen porch watching the birds, listing to the loons, watching for the eagles that nest across the bay or sit at crackling fire and watching for satellites overhead - Being on the third largest lake in Minnesota we also enjoy leisurely trips in the boat exploring the lake and many bays - and of course the swing by the lake watching the sun set - it is a great place to kick back and enjoy day or two.
The cabin is charming. As soon as you walk in the door the smell of the pine logs welcome you!

My husband, son and I spent a few days at Eagles Watch and can't wait to go back. We are avid fisher people and Shingobee Bay offers a wide variety of fishing experiences without having to go into the main part of the lake. Eagles Watch is comfortably furnished and spacious enough for 4 to 6 guests. Would love to see a washer dryer added but not having one does not detract from the property. The owners clearly love Eagles Watch as it is expertly maintained. We hope to visit again soon. Thank you for your hospitality.
Recommended for:Adventure seekers, age 55+, sightseeing.

since when is Shingobee Bay in the BWCA and Superior National Forest!
Owner response:The reviewer is correct Shingobee Bay is not in the BWCAW I did write in my personal profile that I enjoyed the solitude of the BWCAW as personal insight ? QUOTE - "my wide range of interest from climbing mountains, motorcycling to the solitude of the BWCAW and foreign travel have provided me with a unique outlook on life " - that is the only reference to to the BWCAW in the listing ? What else can I say ?
