Once you get here you won't want to leave the Knotty Pine...maybe it's from exhaustion because you just had fun canoeing, hiking, fishing, golfing, or had some other outdoor adventure, or maybe you don't want to leave until you etch the peaceful moments in your mind as you are relaxing in the Knotty Pine's outdoor six-person hot tub viewing the stars and the Blue Ridge Mountains.
This three bedroom cottage with two full baths can accommodate six people comfortablely, & up to eight people using the new futon. (New futon not yet pictured. ~ New blinds too!) Dine inside or outside: There is a fully equipped kitchen, with dishwasher, and dining area, two couches (a futon & one a sleeper) in the living area with a woodstove insert in the fireplace. This is a great place to get cozy on cold nights, or on nice summer evenings sit outside on the large deck, cook on the grill, have a fire in the fire pit and listen to the sounds of nature and the Shenandoah River running, when the water's not too low. A canoe and four tubes are available for you to play with in the river, in the summer. Walk out the door of the Knotty Pine & you can hike the George Washington National Forest. It's a short 10 minute walk to the river, or drive, plenty of free parking. Walk for more than a mile along the river on national forest property from #8 to #9, stop & fish, or just sit & listen to the sounds of the river. Enjoy all this area has to offer, but also relax and do nothing at the Knotty Pine Cottage.

- Air Conditioning: Air conditioners are built in. One in the Kitchen & 1 in the master bedroom. Each one has a remote & both will cool the whole cottage. All bedrooms & the dining room have ceiling fans too.
- Washer: Laundry soap & other supplies are available.
- Dryer: A small hair dryer is in the master bathroom for your convenience. Also an iron & small ironing board in the closet of the blue room.
- Linens Provided: New sheets, towels, & comforters this year! Many extra pillows & blankets too! Plenty of towels for your stay.

- Pet Friendly: Pets welcome for a fee of $25/night.
- Wheelchair Accessible (may have limitations): This single floor cottage is wheelchair accessible, except for the bathrooms which are not large. A shower chair can be used in the hallbath shower/tub. There is a 4" step in to the Knotty Pine fr. a concrete porch which you can pull right up to with a vehicle. The kitchen, dining, & living area is open and/or furniture, like a rocker or table; or even a couch, can easily be moved. A wide wheelchair can go straight down the hall & into the master bdrm, which is large, & has the mst. bath close to the bed. Call for more details.

- Minimum Age Limit for Renters: Adult guests, 21 years old.
- Smoking Allowed: Prefer smoking outside on deck, however, there is a woodstove & some guests have smoked inside during the winter. This should not & has not discouaged our non smoking guests though, as they have said that cottage DOES NOT SMELL OF SMOKE.

Why the Owner Chose Luray
I first arrived at the Shenandoah River Outfitters, & knew I wanted to live in that area. The people I met working there were great, & they offered me a job too. I love the outdoors, paddling or floating the river, hiking the mountains, and enjoy the peacefulness of the woods. I looked at many cabins, but finally decided on the Knotty Pine, because there is a beautiful view, it is a short walk to the river, & it is on the edge of Page Valley Estates, with the George Washington National Forest just out the door.
The Unique Benefits at this Cottage
I love to come home to the Knotty Pine to enjoy the peace & quiet, relax in the hot tub, & refresh by just taking in the mountain views! I miss family & all of my friends at the Shenandoah River Outfitters! I usually work too hard when I'm there though, & don't get to visit people, because I want to make everything just right for my guests, just as Sandy does! I promise next time will be different, & it will be all play, but next time never seems to come. I usually try to fit in a river trip though or at least a few visits, & leave with a long list of "to do's" for next time, & can't wait to come back!

I came to Luray, Virgina looking for a place to live because I got a teaching job nearby. I found so much more than the Knotty Pine, as it was named long before it was ever considered to be a vacation rental. My family helped my buy & fix up the Knotty Pine as I lived & worked there for 18 years. I enjoyed many adventures with my life long friends from the Outfitters, who adopted me as family too. I miss living there but enjoy visiting now & hope to return living there someday with Chuck. Until then, I wish many guests a wonderful vacation at the Knotty Pine.

Greetings: What a wonderful comfy dwelling! All the amenities plus more. The beds are extremely comfortable. Loved the deck & the hot tub. We canoed down the river & used the tubes. We had a wonderful time kayaking! We saw osprey, a mink, & a bald eagle! Hubby enjoyed the hot tub everyday while I went into town & ran along the Hawksbill Greenway (a fab run by the way). Your cabin is comfy & charming w/ all the amenities needed. Stars inside & outside at night, fresh air, peace & quiet! "Our journey to this cabin was a long one. As teenagers we were the best of friends and inseperable for a few years. As we both grew older, our lives went in sepaerate directions. Eventually we lost touch with each other... except for the occasssional hello sent through mutual friends. Several years passed and we both grew to value and miss the friendship we once shared. As chance would have it we reconnected almost a year ago. Since them we have been together as friends and lovers on a daily basis. This cabin, this weekend was our first weekend away together.
