Comfort and location. Our roomy log home on Sopris Avenue was built in the 1970s and later remodeled and expanded. It's in the heart of historic Crested Butte, providing a perfect place for one or more families any time of year.
With two dining areas and two separate living areas, the house has plenty of room for everyone to spread out and feel at home. But despite all the room, it still has a cozy feel. We've furnished it for our own comfort and relaxation, knowing it will also work for our guests.
In winter you can relax by the wood stove or in the private back-yard hot tub. Or in spring, summer, and fall you can lounge outside on one of two sunny south-facing back decks (upper and lower) or on the friendly front porch where passers-by will always wave and say "Hi." We've found it to be an ideal vacation home in any season.
Skiers and hikers will find the front entry/storage room to be a convenient place to stow skis, boots, and equipment. It's fully heated in winter and has shelves for boots, hangers for skis, and plenty of room to store backpacks and to hang coats and jackets.
The house is only a block from Elk Avenue (Crested Butte's main street), so it's just a short walk to most of Crested Butte's great restaurants -- and to lots of shopping. At busy times of the year, you'd easily end up walking further if you drove and looked for a place to park. It's also just a block to the Old Town Hall bus stop where a free shuttle leaves every 15 minutes for the quick 3-mile trip the ski area at Mt. Crested Butte.
In addition to high-speed internet, there's a fax machine and printer available for your use; an upright piano to plunk away on; a star-gazing telescope; and interior furnishings that include some sturdy "period" items from the late 1800s when Crested Butte was established. Of course, there's a full laundry room, too.
Obviously, we love the place and hope you will, too. Please feel free to call us with any questions.
-- Brad and Laura
P.S. Family reunion? We can recommend other VRBO homes in the same block.

Why the Owner Chose Crested Butte
Crested Butte is a special place with friendly people -- locals and vacationers that return year after year; hikers, bikers, skiers, wildflower fans, shoppers. If you've vacationed here before, you know that. If it's your first visit, you're in for a treat. Whatever you do, stay in the historic old town where the restaurants are great and you can walk to everything -- summer or winter.
The Unique Benefits at this House
Summer, winter, fall, and spring are the best times to be in Crested Butte. Sometimes "CB" has big crowds of vacationers and lots of energy. At other times the crowds are gone and the town is very quiet. Those are the two best times to be here, too.
Owner's Map of Crested Butte
We've had a second home in Crested Butte since 1995. But in 2006 we had a chance to purchase this amazing one-of-a-kind log home on beautiful, quiet Sopris Avenue. Our personal and rental guests are always impressed by its roominess, its coziness throughout, the convenience of its location, and the privacy of its yard, decks, and hot tub. So are we! We love this place and think you will, too.
