Two friends and I decided to give the VRBO thing a try for our weekend in NYC. We weren't sure what we were getting into, but the people who own this apt were fantastic. The apartment itself was clean, well taken care of and well laid out. The owners were in constant contact with us and even made arrangements to pick up our balance while we were out on the town, so we wouldn't miss seeing anything since our flight had been delayed. When we arrived at the apartment, there was a very minor issue with the shower head and we let the owners know. They were quick to have it fixed and we had no other issues for the remainder of our trip. The location is right where you want to be with several subway lines within a block or so. It's quiet, but not so far off the beaten path you feel alone. We didn't spend much time in the area, because this was our first trip to the city, but from what we could tell, there were several great restaurants, some little boutiques and cafes and some decent shopping right there. There is a Starbucks a block and a half from the apt, if that's your thing and as soon as you walk a block north, you've got a fabulous view of the Empire State Bldg that is 5-6 blocks away. We are already planning a trip next year and will make sure to stay here again.
Owner response:Hi Jennifer and Friends, It was our pleasure to host you all. Regards, V+L

We had a fantastic time in Manhatten staying at Gramercy. The flat is compact and comfortable and the location is unbeatable. The accomadation was clean and had everything we needed. The lift did not work the first day we were there but worked well for the rest of our stay. The owners were very prompt with emails and were very helpful. Definately recommend this stay.

Myself, my 2 sons and daughter-in-law stayed at this apartment for a week in September of 2009 and it was the PERFECT location! The apartment was clean, well-appointed, and in a safe location. The bathroom is pretty small but suited our needs just fine. I slept in the bedroom that has a closet, dresser and comfortable bed. My son & daughter-in-law slept in the loft and my other son on the futon/couch. The pc was VERY handy for mapping out our trip, looking for events and restaurants in the area and checking on flights. The flatiron district is now our favorite area-with subway entrances, great restaurants, the park with the delicious Shake Shack (yum!), and many shops all within walking distance. There are a couple of markets just around the corner as well, and a little place on the street level of the apartment that makes coffee and energy drinks that are delicious. If we return to NYC, we will definitely come back to this loft apartment!

We spent 5 days last July, and I would like to say that the apartment is really great. The location and the easy access to everywhere, as the welcome letter by the owners giving suggestion to the guest. For sure we will come back.

My friend & I stayed in the apartment for 6 days in May '09 & loved it. The location was fantastic, very clean, quiet, secure, & well furnished. The computer was helpful with any last minute tourist inquiries & we enjoyed being able to walk around 'Block Beautiful' in Gramercy only two blocks away. Big Daddy's around the corner became our breakfast gig & the friendly servers treated us like locals...with banter & quick wit. We felt completely at home during our stay & we attribute that to the ease & personalized attention our hosts Viet & Liezl extended to us. They were wonderful & sweet hosts who I would recommend as they only enhanced our first NY experience. We would truly refer this rental & the hosts. We hope to return to NY next year & plan to stay at our home away from home again.

We enjoyed our week in this Gramercy area apartment. Beds were comfortable, towels plentiful and plush, apartment was clean and quiet. Most importantly to us, the neighborhood (only a block from the Flatiron Bldg. and Madison Square Park) had many convenient shops and restaurants, easy access to subways, and lots of charm. The kitchen and bathrooms have been recently, and tastefully, remodelled. We look forward to staying there again. Patti & Paul

'We are just back from 6 day stay in New york. The apartment is right between Broadway and Park Ave, perfect location and fantatsic amenities. Home from home and the computer allows you to plan your journey before you leave each day. Also right around the corner from Gramercy tavern which is an added bonus!! Well worth booking an apartment over a hotel!' Thanks, Elaine

Just got back from spending a week in New York. This apartment was perfect. Great location and all the amenities of home. Easy access to everywhere and everything in the city. Having the internet made life easier when trying to find directions. I would not hesitate to stay here again!

Thank you very much for letting us stay in the apartment. Everything worked out great. Even with 5 people. We weren't there except to sleep but the location was very nice and quiet. It's very close to subways. The Gramercy area seemed quite comfortable. The internet was great to have and the apartment was furnished with everything we needed. Thank you for making everything simple. TZ from Illinois

With 3 friends, we stayed 5 nights in this apartment at the beginning of May 2008. The flat is well-though, greatly furnished and very clean. If you add the welcoming people who manage check in and out, it brings you a very good feeling about you journey to come! It was perfect for 4 adults; the neighborhood was quiet and friendly whenever encountered. We spent one night in a hotel somewhere near Time Square before staying at this apartment. The hotel cannot stand the comparison: it was more expensive (more than half the price more), far smaller, noisy... And I do not even talk about the great feeling to be "at home" in a real New Yorker apartment, making you a bit less tourist in this town! We had a great time in NYC, and this apartment with its managers surely were a big boost in this!
Owner response:Christophe - you and your friends are so very sweet. Thank you for being the perfect guests!

The Grammercy/Flatiron appartment was great! Our family of four (including our 13 year old son and 9 year old daughter) stayed for a week during 2008 spring break and thoroughly enjoyed it. Everybody got their own bed, the kitchen meant "breakfast at home" (which saved a bunch) and the cable tv and computer were great for information and trip planning. We also slept well, as it is very quiet. The location was also very convenient. Close to the subway, it is also great for walking either uptown or downtown via Park Avenue or Broadway. And the selection of local, reasonable restaurants (complete with brochures in the room) were a nice touch -- we were able to eat at a diner, deli, chinese, italian and bistro, all within a five minute walk! All in all, a great experience, and we will definitely be back!

We enjoyed a 7 day stay here and opted for an apt stay instead of hotel on our 2nd visit to nyc. The neighborhood is a good mix of residential and businesses on the fringe of greenwich and soho. Very quintessential shops and restaurants. Frankly in this city you can have a taste and option of every palate; though this neighborhood seems to gear towards youth and arts somewhat more but still littered with excellent shopping both high end and small and independent. Compared to hotel this is very spacious, comfortably furnished, and well situated. I think it is important to note that this lovely pad is accessible via only 5 flights of fairly steep stairs and could hinder some people as there is no lift. Liezl and Viet were very communicative and accommodating during our stay. We had an issue with the radiator heater and they quickly responded. The price is quite fair and considering there is no taxes, and fees it should very much be considered. I would gladly stay there should my travels return us their way in the future. Thanks Again Jess and David

We stayed in the apartment for one week in April. It is very conveniently placed, with "everything" in walking distance or reached by a short trip on the subway (two stations very near). The apartment in itself is quiet, and very practically furnished - with a nice and modern bathroom and kitchen. The Mac with internet connection is an extra bonus and makes it easy to plan what to see and do. The layout of the apartment is especially OK for those travelling with children 10+; no need to be cramped in a small hotel room and with a private sleeping place on the loft for the kids. The possibility to make their favorite breakfast in the morning and to relax with some take-away and a DVD if they are too tired to go out again in the evening is very practical. Viet and Liezl are also very kind and hospitable; I lost my cellphone on my way to New York and they responded promptly with suggestions and advice. We have rented apartments from owners many times before (from Beijing through most of Europe to New York) - have never been disappointed but this is definetly one of our nicer experiences!

This was the perfect hotel alternative for our 5 night stay in Manhattan. The apartment was spotless, quiet, and well stocked with plenty of clean towels and kitchen supplies, and lots of closet space. The location is perfect- close to lots of wonderful restaurants and markets, and just a few short blocks away from multiple subways. The owners, Viet and Liezl, made the payment process simple and hassle free, and were very hospitable to boot!
