This comfortable home is located on a large lot in a quiet Point Judith neighborhood. It's an easy 1/2 mile walk to Sand Hill Cove (Roger Wheeler) beach and less than 1/2 mile to several eateries, and nightlife. Point Judith Lighthouse, the quaint fishing port of Galilee, and the Block Island Ferry are in walking/riding distance. It's a 10-minute drive up the coast to the shops, restaurants, and beaches of historic Narragansett pier; Scarborough Beach is a 5-minute drive.
This home is owner-occupied for 1/3 of the summer. It's been enjoyed by the owner's family for generations and shows plenty of TLC (tender loving care). Our vacation home has a private, lush backyard bordering a protected area. There's a picnic table, gas grill, umbrella, lawn chairs, and plenty of room for entertaining. The furnished deck off the second floor overlooks the backyard and is a perfect spot to relax, read a book, play a board game, or enjoy lobsters, clam cakes, "chowda," and the daily catch from Galilee's fishing boats.
The first floor includes a living room, master bedroom, guest bedroom, kitchen, bathroom with tub and shower, and a sun porch with an attached deck. There is wall-to-wall carpeting throughout the living area. In 2005, the downstairs was finished, adding a bathroom with shower, new washer and dryer, and family room. Off-street parking is available in the tree-lined driveway or back yard.
There are golf courses close by, fishing, tennis, movie theatres, and restaurants of every price range and type (you'll find some of their menus in the house). Shop and enjoy the interesting gift shops and boutiques at Narragansett Pier Marketplace or even more distinctive shopping in Newport and Wickford. Wakefied, a few miles away, offers a complete selection of "in town" services, goods, and activities. Narragansett's Adventureland offers fun for the entire family (miniature golf, batting and driving ranges, go-carts, and other entertainment).
Day trip destinations include Newport (20 minutes), Jamestown, Block Island, Roger Williams Zoo in Providence, Wickford, Mystic Seaport and Aquarium, Martha's Vineyard, Foxwoods Casino and Mohegan Sun Casino.
