Gorgeous!

If you're looking for a place to stay near PV.... seriously, stop looking because you found it! You can thank me later. I stayed at Casa Rincon for 5 days with a group of 12 to celebrate my friend and my 30th birthdays... and it was beyond what we'd hoped. We had the best vacation of our lives. When we arrived we all were literally screaming and jumping up and down at how beautiful it was, how gorgeous each of our rooms were and how delicious Luis' margaritas were. ;) Since there were 12 of us, we also rented the main house of Casa Selvetica next door, which is gorgeous as well and has a close, easy access back and forth... the two houses are also private if you don't want to rent both. We all were in the "palapa" at Casa Rincon most of the time or on the beach. We had plans to do many excursions but ended up staying at the compound most of the time because it was so relaxing and there was plenty to do. But there are may adventures to be had very nearby. We did go hire a boat (for very cheap) from Punta Mita (15 minutes away) and went out to Las Murrieta's Islands which was so much fun! We also drove to Sayulita (25 minutes away) which is a really cute village to walk around and shop. We had Alicia and Luis cook breakfast and dinner for us every day... and the things they made were amazing!! Delicious Mexican food from scratch and Luis kept the margaritas flowing. You have to hire them if you come and definitely ask for the shrimp tacos!! Luis is amazing... he went above and beyond. He picked us fresh coconuts, bought us fireworks which we set off on the beach, he got a bon fire ready for us each night and did all of our grocery shopping. Dealing with Barbara is easy and she is very sweet. And Pablo, the house manager once you arrive, makes sure everything is perfect during your stay. This place really is paradise. The sound of the ocean putting you to sleep at night is the icing on the cake... we all never slept so well. If you have a group or big family, there really is no better way to go. It felt like we had our own private beach and as if we were the only people around! We can't wait to go back!!!!

Owner response:Thank you for that wonderful review!!! I want to go there too! Just kidding. Well, that's exactly how I feel when I go there. It makes me so happy that everyone feels like it's home away from home. It's a paradise for sure and sharing it just seems to make it even better. And Pablo, Luis and Alicia???? They are the best!!! Thanks for appreciating them.

The wife and I stayed here and it was one of the best vacations we've had. The location, the house and grounds, and especially house staff Luis and his wife Alicia (and their cooking!)... were all just perfect. Nice quiet beach at your doorstep and if you surf, Punta Burros is just down to the right an easy 3 minute stroll with board in hand; you can watch the break right from Casa Rincon. We will definitely be back. We miss the local beach dogs Bella and Mila, who are the sweetest dogs you'll meet, already. And eating dinner under the grand palapa while watching the sun set is...well...paradise. Every day from 4-7 you'd find us sitting on the patio under the palms, chips and guac, cervezas, just watching the ocean...(checks calendar for time off). Then after a long day of surfing, beach walking, reading, hammocking, playing with the dogs, swimming...sleeping at night with the waves crashing was a very peaceful way to end the day. We didn't even rent a car or go anywhere for the 7 days we stayed there. We had Pablo (house manager and great guy) pick us up at the airport, take us to the grocery store to stock up for the week, and then we just stayed at the house the entire time. No need to go anywhere else. Oh, did I mention sea turtles and humpback whales?

There isn't much to say that hasn't already been said - this place is truly a slice of heaven on earth. From the moment you arrive you know you're in a great place. It's true, the photos (which are very nice) don't even come close to doing this place justice. My group rented the entire compound and stayed for 8 nights. Every person in the group commented (pretty much the minute they walked in the house) that this would be an annual event. Luis and Alicia, who will cook for you, are incredible people and cooks. While there are lots of sites to see nearby (Sayulita is less than 1/2 hour away, PV is less than an hour away), just staying put is also quite enjoyable (I didn't leave the compound for 8 days!). There is surfing, kayaking, swimming out front. There's a pool and ping pong table, both of which were lots of fun. Barbara, the owner was great to deal with and Pablo, her manager in Mexico made everything so easy. There are also some resident fury friends for those of you who miss your pets (loved Mila). We also saw lots of whales and 5 baby sea turtles! We were all really sad to leave this magical place and will be back!

Owner response:I can't tell you happy it makes me that you enjoyed yourselves so much and all became enchanted by Casa Rincon, our soulful staff, and the incomparable location. We feel just like you do, and blessed every time we have the chance to get down there. See you next time!

We just came back from a week with our daughter's family and friends. Casa Rincon offers the perfect combination of intimacy and privacy with the separate casitas. Luis and Elisia, the couple who live on the property provided us with fantastic meals, wonderful charm, and were the spirits of the house. We surfed, kayaked, boogie boarded, and hung out. The kids (lots of them, ages 4 to 10) had a blast. We will be back soon.

Great surf, amazing food, wonderful surroundings. We spent most of our time out in the surf or relaxing around the villa. Very comfortable. Did not want to leave! Thanks to Louis and Alicia for all their hard work and wonderful food.

Owner response:Hi Brian, thanks for your review. It means a lot to me that folks have an unforgettable time at our little secret Paradise. I just got back from a marathon 'house-work' week there which included getting excellent and ridiculously affordable dental work done , (my air fare and the cost of the crown cost less than a crown in the U.S. and the work is at least as good as the best here in Santa Barbara!). I managed to write, paint AND swim and surf everyday, sit and daydream at the sea wall while watching the better surfers , like you, surf into the sunset. I'm home and going through serious withdrawals. Also, super thanks for your wonderful write up in your online surf-water-magic world, The Scuttlefish. Luis and Alicia and all await your return!

Casa Rincon Surf's Up!

Just got back from a very relaxing 4 days @ Casa Rincon. What a fantastic house and location, right on the beach with a great surf break right out front and several others close by. Many thanks to Barbara for taking the time to ensure our group thoroughly enjoyed themselves. Luis & Alicia could not have been more hospitable, the breakfasts and dinners they made us were outstanding. Casa Rincon is a beautiful property and we plan to return for our annual surf trip again next year. I would highly recommend a stay here.

Owner response:Hi you guys. Thank you so much for the very nice review! I'll share it with Luis and Alicia. I'm going down soon to visit Mila! All the best, Barbara

We stayed here last year... about 12 in our family. Ages 10 and up. We had the BEST vacation ever! This was honestly the first family vacation that we did not want to leave. The property is beautiful and Luis and his wife were the best!..We found it to be so relaxing and peaceful here. We are on our way back down in Feb. with new family members this time.. can't wait for them to enjoy this little piece of heaven too! Thankyou Barbra!

Owner response:Luis and Alicia are so excited that you are coming down again! I love how Casa Rincon feels like your own getaway home when you are there. That's how I like it. It truly belongs to everyone and has a soul of it's own. Thank you for your thoughtful review. Enjoy! Barbara

This property is the closest thing to heaven on earth that I can muster. The video only begins to do it justice. Amazing architecture, both indoors and out. Flawlessly stocked kitchen. Delicious food. Warm company from the property caretakers. Tranquility. Plush accommodations. Luxury and seclusion, built to handle just about as many folks as you chose to invite. The ocean in its vast perfection is only a few steps away (a manageable break for a first-time surfer like me), which made sunset frolicking my most treasured time of each day. "Tropical Paradise" defined. I can't wait to return.

This place is absolutely rare and incredible. I tried to describe it to friends once I got home and could only come up with "hobbit/ewok" world. There are low down adobe rooms in the jungle and the cylindrical center house that feels like you're living in the trees. Sitting on a body board in the silvery calm evening surf watching the sun go down is transcendental and the mornings are deserted and golden calm. This place is a blank slate of beauty and the privacy will allow you to make it anything you want with your friends or family.

We visited this past May/June and had a terrific time. The property accomodated our party of 8 very well, with something for everyone to do. We made regular use of the kayaks and surfboards (several from which to choose). Luis and Alicia may have been the best part of this visit. They regularly prepared guacamole and pico de gallo for us, and prepared meals at our request. We invited them to dine with us some evenings and very much enjoyed their company. They are more than happy to help you with your spanish, in exchange for some help with their english. Wonderful people and a wonderful property.

This place is truly special & the online pictures do not come close to capturing its beauty. Our family and extended family shared a peaceful Christmas holiday at the casas. The layout was perfect: each family had a casa to themselves, but there were perfect gathering spaces under the Grand Palapa (right off of the beachwall which was even decked out with a Christmas tree when we were there!), in the main house, & at the firepit on the beach. The house is perfectly situated at the end of a beautiful, very high-end neighborhood. Even at Christmas, we had the beach and perfect surf break to ourselves. The houses are intertwined with lush gardens, and the paths/layout is whimsical & private (at first we completely missed Casa Luna tucked up in the gardens). Luis & Alicia were unbelievably gracious & accommodating. Luis got the freshest fish and lobster for us each day & the also cooked divine, authentic, dinners for us several nights -- with fresh, local ingredients (Alicia's guacamole & house-specialty salsa are to die for). There is a spa within walking distance, as well as a larger hotel from which to book tours or grab a taxi. We had a car and made daytrips to Sayulita occasionally which was quick & easy too. Barbara has created a beautiful place which emanates serentity and warmth. I feel lucky have to spent my holidays here. Feel free to e-mail w/ questions.

All we can say is WOW! We had the most fantastic 2 weeks at Casa Rincon and will most definitely return. The surfers among us were happy and the inner surfers within the rest of us were even able to try our hands (feet?) at it. When the waves went flat, we snorkeled, swam, kayaked and simply relaxed. Casa Rincon was private, quiet and extremely comfortable. Alicia and Luis took great care of us and the place really lived up to all our expectations! Thanks Barbara for creating such a great place to escape to!

My family of 4, including 2 teens, was lucky enough to rent Barbara's compound for one week in mid-February 2007. We live in a beautiful part of the world; yet, for the 1st time, we didn't want to come home. The word for this house and location is FANTASTIC! The setting, beach, area of Mexico, surf, water temperature, and climate are perfect. The houses are beautifully renovated and comfortable. Barbara has thought of everything from soft sheets to fragrant shower gel in each bath. She even provided a crate of aqua shoes and booties so that we could surf or play in the waves at low tide! We layed on her surfboards or kayaks everyday. Her caretakers, Luis and Alicia, are friendly and attentive, but careful to give you your privacy also. We ate every meal outside and watched the sunset over the Pacific. Barbara provides a terrific book of restaurant suggestions. Every choice that she liked, we loved! There are a surprising number of great restaurants in the area for how quiet it is. This rental is a great location for a romantic vacation. I really couldn't rate this rental higher. Our family plans to return to Casa Rincon next winter.

Dear interested seeker: We have been grateful to have lovely and satisfied renters, many who return and some who become family friends, if they aren't already. For years this has been the coveted haven of famous surfers and muscians who have stayed with us or with the previous owners and builders of Casa Rincon. I named our house Casa Rincon because it is tucked into a private beachfront corner, and mostly because my husband's favorite surf spot was Rincon Point, and last but not least, this house now replaces our family's dream ranch on Rincon Mountain. My late husband, Bill Cleary, discovered Burros in the 60's and always wanted to live here. A few years ago we were blessed with the opportunity to buy this house built on the very land he had once dreamed of owning: the closest and most private spot next to the Burros break. Visitors are not only enchanted, but leave feeling stress free and filled up with the tranquility this paradise offers. We feel the same way! Our daughter and I spent the year of 2005-2006 here, she attending the Colegio Americano, while I worked on the house. We have had to return to Santa Barbara where family calls but we return with friends and family as often as possible. Since we are no longer here full time we have decided that Casa Rincon wants to be loved and shared with others, and so we began the adventure of sharing this slice of paradise. Please let us and any other interested renters know how your vacation was and enter something in this online guest book. There is also a guest book in the house for you to scribble in and we would love to add your photos to it. Thanks from all of the Dentzel's and Cleary's. Rest and Enjoy!
