Waterhouse on the Mill Race Stream

By the second day our little grandson was feeling right at home and especially loved the books and cabinet doors in the kitchen. We all felt comfortable whether gathering in the living room, preparing meals in the kitchen or eating them in the dining room. The house was very clean (a real plus) and well-equipped. We enjoyed the views of the garden from the inside and hope to be there again sometime to fully enjoy your beautiful landscaping. Thank you for providing such a nice home away from home.

After graduating from Willamette My daughter and her fiancee decided to get married in Salem. We live out of state so renting a home in Salem was our best choice, This house is beautiful. The owners were are very kind leaving fresh flowers on the table and fresh veges in the fridge. Would recommend this house to anyone who wants a home away from home.

Owner response:Hi Jane, We were very happy to have you stay in our Salem vacation home. We are very pleased that the house worked out for you so well. Your always welcome back, when visiting again in Salem!

Since my oldest daughter moved to Oregon some 12 years ago, I've made numerous trips from California. This trip marked the birth of her 6th child. My youngest daughter, her two boys, and I stayed in this house while waiting for "the word". It was so nice, clean, and comfortable that we felt at home as soon as we walked in. We especially loved the kitchen, equipped with every gadget, appliance, pots and pans everyone needs! The little boys enjoyed playing in the beautiful backyard, and watching the Mill Creek run through the property. We loved the old house and will plan on more stays here. A very nice experience, for sure! Glad I found it online.

Clean and cosy on the creek.

We spent a week here with our son and granddkids. The house had everything we needed. Great kitchen for cooking with a spacious dining room for family dinners. Inviting living room with a fireplace and good comfortable beds. It was lovely to sit by the creek and enjoy the beautiful gardens. The owners take great care of the home and yard. Would recommend this home for any stay. Its so much better to be in a home than in a hotel.

"The Waterhouse"

This charming old home has been meticously restored and is in spotless condition. It is in a quiet, leafy neighborhood conveniently located near downtown Salem in the heart of the Williamette Valley wine country. Portland, Eugene, the coast and the Cascades are all an hour or less away. While there are plenty of good restaurants nearby, we particularly enjoyed eating at the patio table in the magnificent garden. You'll find all the amenities here--truely a first class property with with very friendly and helpful owners. We will always have fond memories of our stay & of our hosts Joanie & Dean. Not only do we highly recommend this vacation rental, we hope to be able to return in the near future. Marty & Lynn

My family and I stayed at this fantastic home in July for five days. We were attending a wedding in Silverton and decided on a home rental for the six of us instead of two generic hotel rooms at $160 each. We've had great experiences with VRBO rentals over the last few years, and this one was no exception. The house has lots of character, is in a very convenient location, and the front and back yard are fantastic. We had breakfast in the beautifully landscaped back yard every morning. Having A/C came in handy - every day was around 95 degrees!

This was our first vacation rental and it was truly a find. The pictures posted on the website don’t justify the beauty and serenity of this home.We made the trip to Oregon to drop our daughters off for their first year of college. My husband and I and another couple stayed at the house with our two daughters. It was so roomy; we had no problems with bumping into one another. The location was so convenient for shopping at Lancaster Mall as well as Woodburn Company Store, an outlet mall. The owner also made sure she gave us directions to a Walmart Super Store and Safeway for food, and also recommended restaurants in the area. She also had brochures available for other points of interest. After shopping all day, it was really nice to get back to the house. We made use of the gas grill in the back yard to grill up some steaks and sat in a spacious dining room for dinner. We felt at home. There is no question in our minds that we will rent this home again. Thank you for sharing your beautiful home.

We stayed in this wonderful, nicely decorated home with our 2 adult children and a teenager. The house is very well kept and comfortable with plenty of books, games & movies to keep everyone happy. We all had lots of space to spread out and found the location to be very convenient. Our always hungry boys especially enjoyed the 24 hour Mexican drive-through restaurant 1/2 a block away. My husband and I enjoyed our morning coffee and newspaper in the enclosed back porch and we all loved the beautiful yard with the creek running through it. All in all, this house totally exceeded our expectations and we would definitely stay again.

We have rented vacation condos and homes whenever we traveled with our children for more than a couple days, and now we would not consider anything different - even without kids! This home would be at the top of our recommendations. It's tastefully decorated and has a beautiful garden; close to downtown and the surrounding destinations like wineries, rafting and hiking. The owners did not furnish it with rundown appliances and leftovers from rummage sales. It's an old home, but immaculate. If you've never rented a home for a vacation, you absolutely will not be disappointed if you start here. Enjoy!

Lovely Old Home

We stayed in Salem, Oregon at this lovely old home in a quiet neighborhood. The house has been lovingly restored and furnished with a mixture of beautiful antiques and modern pieces. The owners met us there to hand over the keys and give us a short tour. The house sits beside Mill Creek which makes a beautiful backdrop to the well landscaped back yard. We used the barbecue one evening and sat outside to eat our meal on one of the decks. We were happy to be close to the downtown markets and other shopping. The arts festival was a few blocks away. This was a wonderful getaway for us. We recommend this house to anyone interested in a unique stay in Salem.

Thank you so much for offering such a beautiful home! Our graduation and family get together wouldn't have been the same if we hadn't met in such a warm and sospitable home. It is a most wonderful spot and I feel honored to have been the first guests to stay here! Thanks again! The Fish Family

What a delighful house! It was very homey and mornings on the porch with a cup of tea was peaceful and restorative. The gardens are lovely and you really don't have to go anywhere else if you are just looking for a quiet, restful place to relax.
