"Tern About" - Tuckahoe, North Carolina Vacation Rental "Tern About" is an amazing beach cottage located in the quaint town of Duck, North Carolina. Just south of Duck Village, our home is only 200 yards from its private access to the Currituck Sound and just 800 yards from the Atlantic Ocean. A 5-10 minute walk takes you to either the sound (for kayaking, fishing or watching the sunset from our pier) or the sea (for swimming, sailing and beachcombing). There is ample private parking both on the soundside and seaside for our guests and their friends. Our home is beautifully decorated and was just updated in 2006-2007 with new furniture, carpeting, baths and paint (inside and out). It has enough beds to sleep 8, although I would say that 6 sleep most comfortable. Amenities include: 4 good-sized bedrooms, 3 full baths, a port-a-crib, private community pool, basketball in the cul-de-sac, and a tennis court. The "Tern About" great room has a 27" TV (DVD/VCR), dry bar, tons of board games and over 100 first-run movies. Located on one of the highest points in Duck, you can relax and enjoy a spectacular view of both Currituck Sound and the Atlantic Ocean from our main level and decks. Duck, NC is reminiscent of Nantucket or Martha's Vineyard in look and feel. A paved bike trail (great for running, blading or just pushing the jog stroller) takes you from our home to the center of the village with its unique shops, galleries, and restaurants. North of Duck is Corolla, home of the protected wild horses and four-wheel drive beach access. In addition, liekly to be complete this season is the Park in Duck's center. It includes a play area and lengthy boardwalk for strolling through the sound side. To the south, is Kitty Hawk, Nags Head, and Manteo where there is so much to do, it is impossible to list it all. The Outer Banks is a wonderful island that offers just about everything for a family vacation. Nationally-recognized golf courses, outlet shopping, and spas, join family-friendly beaches to make the Outer Banks a great summer destination. Without traffic, you can get to our home in 4 1/2 hours from DC. "Tern About" is located approximately 1 1/2 hours from the Norfolk, VA airport. We are a Sunday to Sunday rental.
