Beaune burgundy, with this apartment as our base was gorgeous. We had the best weather this week that was possible in early April, blue sky at several well appointed wine tastings! what could be better. This comfortable and spacious apartment was always nice to arrive home to after sightseeing and exploring. Burgundy is foodie paradise, baguettes to pastries you will be amazed. We were always able to prepare great meals in the kitchen. The region is blessed with excellent wine and many parks and sites that will interest all ages. Magical memories were made- never forget the charge and counter attack between the kids and the Beaune city park geese, the geese triumphed as the 'charge' and 'the hissing' was comically played out in the birds favour! hope to return, really.. had a blast.

My family had a perfect stay at this lovely apartment. Franck and Laura were very helpful throughout the entire process and we hope to go back next year. The apartment was as advertised or better as every need had been anticipated. Very clean and we felt right at home. The location couldn't have been better. We had a hard time deciding which bakery to go to in the morning and the rest of Beaune was just a few steps away. No car is needed if you're staying within the walls and the train is a couple of blocks away where we went to Dijon for the day. Don't miss the market on Wednesday or Saturday. My wife made some wonderful meals in the well stocked kitchen. Of course there are so many restaurants to choose from it's hard to have a bad meal in Beaune. A short walk away we had an absolutely delicious meal at Benaton with it's Michelin star. The market menu is very reasonably priced and well worth it. For some of the best deserts or afternoon "tea" it's a toss-up between Wagner or Bouche. It's like deciding who's your favorite child. If you're into food and wine I can't image a better place to visit. Also not to miss if you're going with children is the park. We packed a picnic, rowed a boat, the kids rode horses and the carousel. It also has a playground and some fun fountains to play with. Overall the apartment and Beaune provided our family a great vacation.

My husband and I stayed here for one week and really enjoyed this very comfortable & well-appointed flat. It is in a great location--walking distance to the best of Beaune. The owners, Laura and Franck, have created a great place to stay, and were very helpful to us in planning our stay, etc. Specific high points for us: The bed in which we slept was very comfortable and larger than typical French/ European beds. My husband is 6' 3" and other places we stayed in France were not nearly as comfortable for him due to the shorter standard beds in most places. The apartment is visually pleasing and well furnished with amenities and good practical extras that add to the comfort of one's stay. Everything was clean and in good condition. We had everything we could have needed or wanted and more. We also appreciated that there was a secure place (locked courtyard) to store the bicycles we rented during our stay. As far as choosing Beaune to visit, it is a fantastic place to experience the best of French living with a wonderful food market, some of the best wine you will probably ever experience, and really great restaurants. The city itself is great to explore and is steeped in history with great intact medieval architecture. It is also a good central location for exploring the greater Burgandy area by car. For us, however, we were content to get around town on foot (very easy to do) and rent bicycles to venture outside of the city to explore the some of the region's best vineyards and wineries. The bike paths winding through the vineyards linking one village to another are amazing such that cycling for many kilometers is quite easy. We enjoyed a wonderful 40 km loop stopping in a number of villages along the way. Rarely were we on roads with any auto traffic. If you go to Beaune, do not miss a visit to L'Ange Guardien. This is an excellent winemaker and purveyor of select wines from the region. It is a smaller operation, very personal, and not touristy like some of the other tasting rooms and caves. Whether you are a wine connoisseur or new to the culture of wine, you will not go wrong with a tasting and purchase from this high-quality cave. We had such a great time in Beaune and hope we are fortunate to be able to return some day. If so, we would not hesitate to stay in Laura and Franck's wonderful apartment.

I don’t think I have ever been so impressed by a vacation rental. This was our first time staying in Laura and Franck’s apartment in Beaune, and I didn’t want to ever leave. Our family (2 adults, two children) had been travelling for a long time all over France, and we were surprised to find that this was the best part of our trip. We slept like babies in the serene beauty of the gracious bedrooms. Our bed and bedding was so divinely comfortable, and our two children each had their own huge bed in their room. To complete to our mutual serenity, their bedroom was separated from ours by the hallway and the sitting room, giving us all additional privacy and quiet for slumber. We woke every morning to drink our coffee in bed and soak in the beauty of the exquisite old lozenges decorating the high ceilings of the bedrooms, and to wander around feeling the smooth ancient oak floors underfoot. After weeks of dealing with the grit of sandy beaches and the grime of larger cities, both the apartment and Beaune itself were just so clean! The apartment could not have been better equipped or more immaculate. Laura and Franck seem to have found the perfect balance between modern convenience (read: good bathroom, full laundry facilities, and a modern and totally equipped kitchen) and respect for old world architectural charm. The result is that you have everything you need right where you need it, but there is also space and elegance to inspire your soul. We had never spent much time in Beaune, and we simply fell in love with the experience that this gite and the city provides. It was a perfect amalgam of the pleasure of the countryside and the convenience and stimulation of a city. The apartment was so peaceful and quiet, but by stepping outside, we could buy pain au chocolates at the boulangerie twenty paces away, or stroll down the street to the Café Carnot for lunch or dinner. Our children could stay at the apartment to finish watching their video in the salon, while my husband and I could sit together and have a glass of Burgundy’s astounding vintages in the wine bar two blocks away. There was no worry about finding parking for the wonderful Beaune market on Saturday, since we simply wandered out the door to explore all the treasures. And Beaune at night! I never realized how the city was transformed by all the atmospheric lighting! We had the most divine dinner at Le Petite Paradis, merely a five minute walk away.

My husband could not have picked us a better place to stay in Bergundy. Beaune is the best place to settle and branch out. This apartment was charming, tasteful, well-situated, spacious and clean. It was the highlight of our European vacation. It was kid friendly. My seven and four-year old really appreciated the space, the tub and their own beds, and I the amenities. We had the pleasure of getting our pain quotidienne [baguette] at the family-owned bakery just a block away. The farmers' market, charcutteries, epiceries and outdoor restaurants were mere minutes by foot. We would highly recommend this apartment to friends and family.

We stayed in Le Relais Du Vieux Beaune for a week in May after a week's stay in another in Paris. We fell in love with Beaune, and this roomy beautiful apartment! It is lovingly maintained and decorated with antiques and up-to-date top shelf appliances. I loved the country style chandliers and medallions on the ceilings and the gleaming wood floors. There is a boulangerie/ patisserie, wine shop and restaurant about 200m from the front door. And it is situated about 5 min from the center of town where we walked every day and enjoyed great meals and wines. Our bests: Ma Cuisine and Le Jardin des Remparts (just gorgeous!) in Beaune and lunch at La Maison d'Olivier Leflaive in nearby Puligny-Montrachet. We dined in on cheeses, olives and sausages from one of the in-town fromagerie and bread from our neighbor! Would love to return! It's on my list! And Franck and Laura are great to work, ready with advice with and prompt in returning the deposit!

My wife and I spent a week in Beaune last May and we were so glad that we chose Le Relais as our home base. In the months preceding our stay Franck & Laura were very helpful, supplying any information we needed, especially the detailed package of directions for finding the apartment, parking, getting the door key and general orientation to Beaune. The folder of user instructions for every appliance came in handy a few times – especially as we had never used a front loader washing machine before. The folders of dining & touring recommendations were also handy. The local parking pass was invaluable! They thought of everything – even on our arrival we found the cupboards stocked with consumables like tea, coffee, sugar, sauces etc. - we saved the complimentary bottle of wine for dinner :) The apartment itself was perfect – clean, spacious (especially for 2), airy, plenty of natural light … and most importantly, exactly as advertised – no nasty surprises! It was a short walk (5 to 8 min) to the town centre, where we spent a few afternoons, enjoying a glass of Chardonnay, watching the tourists & locals pass by and soaking up the atmosphere & lovely Spring weather. Tourist tip – if you plan to do walks in, or tour the gorgeous countryside – find the ‘Office de Tourisme’ in Beaune and buy the brochure/map called, “Walks in the Beaune Countryside” – for only 3 euros – we used it as a driving, walking, touring guide for natural & historical attractions - we hiked through beautiful wooded hills & valleys, walked through some of the top vineyards of Burgundy, toured chateaux & their amazing wine cellars, explored ancient castles ... wonderful memories! Frank & Laura tick all the boxes for making Le Relais du Vieux Beaune, a wonderful home away from home.

Apartment is well located and exactly as advertised. Owners are super helpful and made our stay easy and comfortable. The apartment is walking distance to all restaurants and shops in Beaune and a short drive to most of the Domaines we wanted to visit. I've already recommended to friends and will stay there again when we return to Beaune.

We have just returned from a stay at Le Relais de Vieux Beaune. A last-minute necessity to be in France prompted this booking and owners Laura and Franck offered Paypal as an easy means to confirm the booking. The directions they provided to find and gain access the apartment were precise. It is an easy walk from the train station and, had we had a car, there was plenty of parking nearby. The apartment is spacious, clean, light and comfortable, appliances are easy to use and everything works! It is a beautiful renovation. You can walk to great restaurants, two groceries, bakeries and shopping including Wednesday and Saturday open-air markets. Beaune is the center of the Bourgogne wine industry and a treasure trove of local information is provided to make exploring easy. We look forward to returning as soon as our schedule permits.

Having spent one week here and having already signed up for two weeks in this unit next year is testament to how much we enjoyed the unit and our experience in beaune. The unit is ideally located for taking full advantage of the city of beaune and the surrounding vineyards. Being cyclists, we enjoyed easy access to all the cycling paths through the vineyards of world class wines. The literature and guides left by the owners were extremely helpful in selecting restaurants and ease of navigating the city. The website very accurately depicted the unit which is comfortable and clean with all modern conveniences. If you like wine, cycling and good food, this is the place for you.

Laura and Frank's apartment is divine. They thought of everything to contribute to the comfort of their guests... good lighting, plenty of mirrors, extra pillows, comfortable furniture (especially the bed) cozy throws for lounging on the sofa, idiot proof "user manuals" for the area, the apartment and all the appliances, electrical outlets galore, an efficient washer with a separate dryer and a kitchen worthy of a cook complete with an exhaust fan that vents to the outside. The apartment is centrally located and one can reach any point in the city easily on foot. Laura and Franck provide their guests with a parking pass and at most times one can park on the street that runs in front of the apartment. On the rare occasion when there are no spaces in front of the apartment, there is plenty of "free" parking outside the walls only a five minute walk away. Beaune is a marvelous, compact, friendly little city.We walked from end to end and ate ourselves silly. This lovely apartment was a welcome respite for our tired feet and full stomachs at the end of each day. We look forward to returning someday.

We arrived on Sunday, April 17,2011 at the Beaune Apartment for 8 nights after completing a 7 night Rhone/Soane River Cruise. My sister and brother in law joined us for our stay in this 2 bedroom apartment. I did have some concerns because we had only one bathroom for 4 adults. No worries, the one bathroom worked out fine, since in Europe, the toilet is in a separate room. We had a rental car for the week and easily found parking in front of the apartment or very near the apartment. Also, having the parking pass was a great savings for us because parking would have been expensive. The apartment was just gorgeous and wonderful. Kitchen was very modern and had everything you may need to fix meals, etc. We also used the washer & dryer as soon as we arrived since we had been gone already for 10 days. Having the appliance manuals handy proved to be very helpful. Both bedrooms are spacious allowing us to store all our clothes, luggage, etc in our rooms....and let me add the matresses were very confortable. The "things to do" binders were very helpful and made our outings very rewarding. During our stay in Beaune, we went to a variety of outdoor markets, but the Saturday Beaune market was outstanding. We went to the Beaune Market the Saturday before Easter Sunday and it was packed with people buying everything for Easter Dinner (at least that is what I assumed). We bought all of our food from the outdoor market, which included roasted chicken, salad fixings, french green beans, olives, etc for a proper Easter Dinner at the Apartment, and it was great. I am SO GLAD we chose Beaune over Dijon for our stay in the Burgundy area because it is truly a jewel, and the apartment and apartment location is an easy walk from anything you would want to see in Beaune. Also, the train station is a short 5-10 minute walk to the apartment. On a final note, who would expect the owners would call a day after our arrival to make sure everything was ok at the apartment. Thanks Laura and Franck for making our stay in Beaune one of our most memorable vacations.

Our family of five spent our spring break here. Apartment was fabulous and the location was a perfect setting to visit the town on foot and to tour the surrounding contryside by either bike or car. There was always parking in fron of the apartment for our rental car! The accommodations were superb and all the binders of information about the apartment, the town of Beaune and the countryside were fabulous. We dined at four of the restaurants in the binders and each one was a superb meal. Forget good food in Paris- the best is in Beaune!!! Working with Laura was delightful and she was so helpful in making our arrangements. The apartment was cozy and warm, sunny and inviting. All the rooms were perfect and the well equipped kitchen and living room were a wonderful element. The neighboring apartment down the street even had a cat who greeted us on our return from outings each day from his third floor window ledge! This apartment is a marvelous way to get a feeling for life in this very special French town that has inspired countless writers and filmmakers. Having spent 35 years travelling to Europe, this was one of the nicest places we've ever stayed. A trup to Burgandy is an elegant visit and staying at this apartment is the perfect way to go!!
Owner response:Merci beaucoup! It was a pleasure to have you and we hope to see you back in Burgundy soon. Laura

Very comfortable and spacious apartment in a small residential building with an unbeatable location in Beaune. We have stayed there twice and were not disappointed the second time around. Wish the owners would upgrade the TV to include international channels.
Owner response:We are indeed trying to get a satellite TV system set up for the apartment - however this is tricky as it is located in the heart of the historically protected area of Beaune and satellite dishes are not allowed on the buildings unless they are very, very well hidden. We are also looking at getting International channels via cable as an alternative...rest assured we are working on this issue - we are always looking for ways to improve our guests' comfort at Le Relais du Vieux Beaune. In the meantime we do supply a constantly expanding library of English DVDs and books. *** UPDATE!!! Dec 2010 - We now have a new system whereby we have many English channels (CNN, BBC, an English kids' channel and many more) that come in directly via our TV cable.
