Large riverfront house - three bedrooms with two master suites - three bathrooms - large deck overlooking Swan River.
Beautiful, highly furnished waterfront home right on the Swan River. This 3,400-square-foot home has approximately 200 feet of direct Swan River frontage with views of the river from nearly every room including the sitting room and living room. The other side of the house overlooks a large, private front yard for your enjoyment.
We have been renting our home to families visiting Montana for many years, and we invite you to read some of our prior guests' review which are included below. We believe our home may be the perfect place for you and your family or group. Enjoy the beauty and fun of the great Swan River which is about 10' from your deck and also enjoy Bigfork, Glacier, and the entire Flathead.
The home is unique in that it has two master bedroom suites at opposite ends of the house - each with its own bathroom and one with an adjacent, small, private office for your use. An additional bedroom and bathroom is located in the center of the house.
The living room is large with a stone fireplace. It has picture windows overlooking the river on one side; it has direct access to the large 500-square-foot deck which also overlooks the river. A barbeque and canoe are kept on the property for your enjoyment.
There is a separate dining area and a separate sitting/reading room and a large kitchen which is fully furnished and equipped. Lastly, there is a separate laundry room with a washer, dryer, and utility sink.
The house has been fully renovated over the years complete with a new stamped concrete front porch and entryway and a huge deck on overlooking the river. The house is designed with some wonderful antiques and furnishings combined with soft leather sofa and loveseats and flat creen TV with DVR TV recording system in the living room.
The property is southwesterly-facing so that you can enjoy the vivid sunsets each night.
The property is conveniently located, only eight to ten minutes driving from the restaurants, galleries, Summer Playhouse, and shopping in downtown Bigfork. Beautiful Glacier National Park, Echo Lake, the more rugged Jewel Basin Hiking area, and Whitefish are also nearby for day trips.
The house is available on weekly basis during the Summer months (normally Saturday to Saturday), but we also especially welcome those persons or families who wish to spend several weeks or longer. We are happy this year to offer reduced rates for those staying a month or longer during the Summer, and we also have substantially reduced rates for longer term leases during the Fall and Winter months.

This house was a perfect home base for our family of 4 while exploring the Flathead Valley and Glacier NP during the kids' fall break from school. The owner is very responsive and provided pre-trip planning advice for our crew. The house is very well maintained and has all the cooking supplies we needed for our breakfasts and dinners. We enjoyed canoeing off the back dock, gazed at the stars at night, went fruit picking at one of the orchards on rte 35 (apples, pears, peaches, plums, oh my!) and enjoyed meals at several local restaurants nearby, and even went for a leisurely jog through the back roads alongside the farms. The house has a solid wireless internet connection and satellite TV service as well (and plenty of power outlets), so we were able to stay as connected to the digital world as we needed.Recommended for: Tourists without a car, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, families with young children, families with teenagers.

This is a wonderful, spacious home in a gorgeous setting and very convenient to Bigfork, Flathead Lake, and Glacier. The house is very well-equipped...the best-equipped rental home we've ever stayed in. The river views are great, and we even caught a few fish right from the back yard. Whitetail and mule deer visited the front yard almost daily and we watched them swim across the river just about every morning and evening. We'd definitely book again on our next trip to the area!Recommended for: Age 55+, adventure seekers, sightseeing, families with young children, families with teenagers.

This beautiful, fully-equipped house on the Swan River was an ideal base for fishing, hiking and visiting Glacier National Park. The place was immaculate, the locale beautiful and quiet and the owner very responsive to any questions. Bigfork is a great little town, and for fishermen, the Flathead is an absolute gem. A first-class vacation experience.Recommended for: Age 55+, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, sightseeing, families with young children, people with disabilities.

We stayed in this house last month and found the experience extremely enjoyable. The house is very comfortable and is all on one level with flat access from parking just outside the front door. All of the comforts of home are available and easy to find and the large deck overlooking the river makes a picture perfect setting for late afternoon sundowners and BBQ. This is a very quiet location and is only about a 10 minute drive to the local town of Bigfork. We purchased all our supplies from Bigfork Harvest Foods on HWY 35 which had everything we needed. Overall this house was the most enjoyable house and the best setting of all our accommodation during our recent 5 week US roadtrip.Recommended for: Girls getaway, age 55+, romantic getaway, sightseeing, families with teenagers.

We really enjoyed our stay at your Swan River home. The place was exactly as you described it and it suited our family well. The location was great and allowed us to access the park four of the days we were there. We also made use of the canoe several times and enjoyed seeing the deer, turkey, osprey and eagles from the deck. Thanks again and also thanks for the bottle of locally vinted wine, it was quite good and a nice welcome! Great place to stay. It was THE place that our extended family wanted to gather. Swam in the river daily, the canoe and tubes were very popular, and the water was crystal clear. Flathead Lake, Glacier, huckleberries, mountain goats, deer, fox, wild turkeys, "catch & release" turtles ... what a wonderful home base from which to experience all this and more.Did you find this review helpful? Beautiful home. We were in Bigfork for our son's wedding and stayed at Swan River for one week. Everything was perfect, from the well equiped kitchen, to the comfortable and spacious bedrooms, the great deck overlooking the river, lots of room to invite friends over for a Bar-B-Q or to just sit and relax. Wished we could have stayed another week so we could have explored the river by canoe some more. Thanks Mack and Shawna.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/2

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at your home. It fit our needs very well for a family reunion: we cooked our own meals using the grill and the kitchen, we went canoeing, we did some bird watching, and we were close to Glacier National Park, a golf course, and a mini-golf course. Thanks again. The De JongsDid you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/2

This is a beautiful home in a gorgeous setting. It is roomy, comfortably furnished and the kitchen is well stocked. The two master suites, on separate ends of the home, are quiet and private. The large windows throughout the home provide gorgeous views of the river. A canoe and inner tubes were available for our use - and that clear, easy-flowing river sure felt good on those hot August days. We hope to visit again!Did you find this review helpful? Owner info
Year Purchased: 1992
About the owner: I was born in Kalispell, and after many years away I bought this home on Swan River about 18 years ago. My wife and I and our son now split our time between Bigfork and our home in Santa Barbara, CA., but my whole family -- going back 4 generations -- is from Northwest Montana ... we hope and think you will love Montana .. hiking, canoeing (or tubing) downriver from our deck, relaxing and watching the deer, wild turkeys, Canadian geese, ...... We look forward to your staying at our home.
Why the Owner Chose Bigfork:
There are many beautiful places to stay in the Bigfork area ... we like our property because it is quiet, private, and on the river -- and yet it is still only about 8 minutes door to door to the downtown shops and restaurants of Bigfork ... (and only about 2 minutes from the famous Echo Lake Cafe -- which serves the best deck breakfasts in the valley)..
The Unique Benefits at this House:
Every property has its own unique charms ... for us, we think you might especially enjoy the quiet privacy, the front yard, the large deck overlooking the river, the Summer swimming, tubing, and canoeing right to or from the house ... Also, the property faces southwest so you will see the magnificent sunsets over the river every night from your living room, from the dining room, and from the deck ... Have fun. Most people come to Montana in the Summer, but maybe come sometime in the Fall and Winter as well.
