The Lee Family
The Lee Family
We had an amazing time at this property. We are a family of 4 plus Grandpa. The main house upstairs had a very large kitchen stocked with everything we needed. Master suite was amazing with a very compfortable bed. and french doors right out to the screened porch. The kids loved the bedroom with the twins. Downstairs is where grandpa stayed. He said it was really nice to have is own space to relax and read. Now the pool is just what the we needed. After a long day on the boat everyday we would just relax and cool off in the pool. It was perfect for the kids. Thanks to the owner for making this home availalbe for families to rent. We will definitly be back next year. Oh we rented our boat from the tavernier marine. 190.00 a day. for a great center console boat that had plenty of seats for the 5 of us. Vic was who we talked to and he is a really nice guy. Now this price was because we were there in the off season so it might be more during the regular summer months.

We were two families of 4, and loved this house. One family stayed upstairs and one downstairs. Plenty of room for all. House interior was completely remodeled. Kids loved the pool, and jumping off the dock into the canal. Location was perfect as well. Ocean was 5 minute ride from the house, and Tavernier creek was only 10 minutes to get to the bayside. Additionally, Val the property manager was fantastic. She answered all my questions and even helped find someone to repair my boat trailer.

Nice place and nice friendly neighbors. Great for families with teenagers. The down stairs area is great for them. Feels like they have a place of there own. Lovely upstairs and clean. Well maintained pool and dock area. Be careful of low tides and going in and out of the canal. First day we came in at low tide and were almost grounded - scraped our prop. Neighbors said that the tides were low because of the moon phase. However as long as your away of the tides getting in and out was not problem. Grocery store near by and wonderful restaurants. Our favorite The Fish House in Key Largo. Needless to say we had a great time, thank you.

Pleasant - but not fantastic - accommodation
Pleasant - but not fantastic - accommodation
Overall, the house was pleasant: very clean, and had all basic amenities plus a very nice screened in upper balcony. The location was also very good, near to parks, beaches, grocery store, etc. We very much enjoyed the nearby attractions of Pennekamp Coral Reef State Park and Theatre of the Sea. We were, however, disppointed on a few fronts. First, the pool was tiny: for the website, it must have been photographed with a very wide angle lense, because in reality it was the smallest pool that I have ever seen - initially I could not believe that it was the pool in the photo - and was also freezing. The 'small sandy "beach" at one end of the pool' could more accurately be described as a small patch of fine gravel; in fact, my children had to be directed to this, as they initially thought it was just an unplanted section of the garden. The downstairs suite smelled musty and, more importantly, had no internal connection to the upstairs (something that is not explained on the website) which meant that my children did not feel comfortable sleeping down there on their own. The suggestion on the website of taking a stroll through the quiet neighborhoods just to the south is fine if you want to walk no further than four blocks (canals and dead-ends preclude a longer neighbourhood walk). Overall, a nice house, but not quite what we were expecting.

Family Vacation at Coconut Key
Family Vacation at Coconut Key
My family and I recently spent the week surrounding the New Year's Eve Holiday at Coconut Key in Tavernier, Florida. We could not have been more pleased with the location, amenities, and atmosphere of the house and the Florida Keys as a whole. This was our first trip to the Keys and it will not be our last. The house was comfortable, clean, and included all amenities that were outlined in our rental agreement. It was wonderful to wake each morning to the sunrise over the ocean and spend the day in the sun and warmth of both the indoor and outdoor areas of the property. Both the owner and the Property Manager Val were very helpful in providing us with tips to local entertainment spots, shopping and sightseeing destinations, and restaurants. We highly recommend this property to any family or group who is looking to explore and stay in the Florida Keys.

Well, we decided to use this rental on our wedding day. It worked out great!. We were married out by the pool & our guests could hide in the shade (3:00PM wedding). Family came in front Chicago & were excited by the location & the great canal/ocean view. If you have one, bring your boat. The property manager (Val) was very helpful & has a lot of knowledge about people in the Keys to help make your stay even better. I spoke with the owner a few times & he seemed very helpful & willing to make sure our stay was right. We looked at many properties & really feel like this one is very useful & a good bargain. Everything is pretty close so, you don't have to drive very long to pick up what you need. We have great wedding pictures to remember our stay but, hope to return many years to come. Put this one on your list.

We just spent a week at this house and back home today :( So sad to be home. We had the best week and this house had all that we wanted and needed. We took our own boat so we fished in mornings, snorkeled by day, fished at night. We even rented 3 paddle boards for 2 days to explore which was a great time and workout as well. Thanks Val for answering questions and getting the house ready for us, thanks to Tom for opening up your home to us. We had a blast and will be back for sure. Hope we cleaned up enough for Val before leaving!!!! Thanks again for a Wonderful Stay!!!!

I stayed in this home with a bunch of old dive buddies from the past - place is very clean and functional. Plenty of room and beds for all. Conveniently located near major supermarkets for stocking up and picking up those forgotten items. Val the property manager was in constant communication with us to answer any questions and act as our personal concierge. Overall this is a very clean spacious home with a great back balcony porch to relax on. on a completely separate note having nothing to do with the home - DO NOT RENT A BOAT FROM ISLAMORADA WATER SPORTS - THEY WILL CHARGE YOUR CARD AND BRING YOU A BROKEN DOWN BOAT , THEN TELL YOU THEY WILL NOT COMPENSATE YOU FOR THE LOSS OF YOUR TIME OR INCONVENIENCE- AVOID AT ALL COST - THIS COMPANY RUINED OUR TRIP WITH THEIR UNBELIEVABLE UNPROFESSIONALISM - A LAWSUIT IS BEING FILED - as for this house - Everything was right on time. If i made only one suggestion , it would be to add some ceiling fans on the porch deck to move the still, hot air. I would definitely rent this home again. thanks Doc.

Year Purchased: 2005
About the owner: Our family is from South Florida. Cyndi is a former professional horse trainer and Tom is a Veterinarian. We have three children, our boys are into water sports and motocross racing, our daughter loves horse showing and is trained by Cyndi.
Why the Owner Chose Tavernier:
I've been diving and fishing in this area since the 60's, it is the best location for proximity to oceanside reefs, lobstering and fishing(back country and offshore), sand bars and beaches. Being close to shopping, grocery store and fuel along with being on a very private street helped us make the decision to purchase this house. Making this house available for vacation rental, due to it's great location, was also considered in our decision. Attractions, parks, etc are close by for vacationers that are not water sports enthusiasts.
The Unique Benefits at this House:
Early morning coffee on the balcony as the sun rises, lounging on the patio by the pool, barbequeing in the evening with the family and friends. The boat is right there in the backyard ready to go, no long walks out to the dock here!
