This generous four bedroom, three bathroom victorian home is more than big enough to accommodate hours of fun and games for all the family. And when the spirit of adventure takes hold, discover a world of play right outside your front door. Head to the green acres of beautiful battersea park for picnics, boating, rounders, or a game of tennis, all just minutes away on foot, while for more sedentary pleasures, battersea is abuzz with cool cafes and international restaurants. Relax by the nearby river thames, or experience the fine dining and fabulous boutiques of chelsea’s kings road, ten minutes' walk away.
You hosts are a designer and a CEO who originally hail from Ireland. They met and fell in love with London, and now live here with their three children. As a busy family of five, they make the most of their leisure time, and you’re likely to find them cycling, en route to the local park, zoo, indoor swimming pool, or even to their allotment just twenty minutes along the river.
Gather with your brood for food, games and conversation in the huge, homely kitchen with its bottle green range style oven, wooden table for six, and two comfy armchairs. Pour out some home-made ginger beer, and let the little ones explore the patio, a cosy suntrap enclosed by old brick walls with climbing plants, and filled with pots, toys and seating. Further along, the large sitting room, with its snug sofas, chaise longue, piano, flatscreen tv and lots of chunky books and children’s toys, is equally perfect for some quality family time.
When little ones begin to flag, bathe them in a jade tiled family bathroom, and tuck them up into the bunks of a colourful kids’ bedroom. As the sun sets, head back out to enjoy a glass of wine on the study balcony, before finally choosing from one of three double bedrooms. Stretch out on a sumptuous wooden sleigh bed and gaze at the stars through two skylights overhead, curl up in a cosy double with sweet bunting, or explore the stylish master with its king size bed and ensuite bathroom.
Turf and terrain
Adorn the breakfast table with fresh flowers from the barrow boy on the end of the street, and fresh bread from the neighbouring baker, then take a short walk to battersea park to spot herons, cormorants and grebes on the boating lake, and coatis, capuchins and meercats in the children’s zoo. There are plenty of independent shops and gastro pubs in battersea but if you want to explore further afield, transport links are superb, with buses and trains to anywhere in london, and town less than 25 minutes away.
