Saint Vincent's Hill House is an elegant Victorian built in the 1890's with a unique setting overlooking Vallejo Harbor with views from the Napa River and Mare Island bridges all the way to Mount Tamalpias in Marin County. It is situated in the St. Vincent's Historic District of Vallejo, and has recently been lovingly restored by the owners from the foundation to the attic.
It is a three bedroom, two bath house and sleeps five people. (This may stretch to seven including a double futon upon request.) A downstairs apartment (rented separately) houses an additional four to six people. The home and apartment are non-smoking venues.
The house has hardwood floors in the living, dining, and master bedroom, and restored fir floors in the kitchen and other bedrooms. The larger bath boasts a claw foot tub with shower; the small bath has a shower. Both baths have vintage fixtures.
The kitchen is thoroughly modern while maintaining its Victorian charm, and is adjoined by a wonderful sun porch (perfect for morning coffee and twilight views). All rooms are blessed with over ten foot ceilings and period chandeliers. Spacious grounds and gardens are now being developed for outdoor living by summer 2007.
There are good restaurants, antique shops, and convenience stores within walking distance from the house. A wonderful multi-cultural farmer's market takes place on Georgia Street (a ten minute walk) every Saturday morning year round.
Vallejo, once the capitol of California, is an undiscovered hideaway from which one can explore much of northern California.
